Thread: weapons slow movement while equiped OK but a pistol ???

you know ...i was thinking.... with the new CU in place when ya have a weapon equiped it slows your movement speed.

now i could understand a rifle..mabey a carbine ...but pistols are light.

i know it's a small detail.every little detail counts.

I agree and I've thought about this as well. If they arent going to give a close range bonus to a pistoleer, like where a rifleman cant fire at a target 10m or less, then they need to look at the weapon enc. I think rifleman should be extremely slow, carbineer should move a bit faster than a riflemen, and a pistoleer should move just a bit slower than a melee prof.

I was thinking about this yesterday also, it should be quicker to run with a pistol then a war hammer or pike even.

The Devs commented about this while at fan fest. It seems movement speed with a rifle is going to be slowed down even more.


Personally, I dont see why I can't run at full pelt with a pistol in my hand.

I dont see how a feather weight fwg pistol is heavyer than a big ass power hammer.

Christ, if they slow Rifleman movement anymore then u can find urself a new Squadleader Basger, coz I'm still gonna be walking through the starport at Mos Eisley by the time ur already killing Krayt dragons.

Movement speed with the pistols kind of bug me, but I hate the god awful movement penalty I get with heavy weapons which is even slower than the other firearms and doesn't deal adequet damage but it makes sense as "heavy weapons". I think they should slow down not only movement speed but rate of fire too on rifles, right now too powerful and still able to fire high damage attacks every 2 seconds.

yeah... doesn't seem very balanced that I have to slow down with a pistol while my friends with powerhammers get no reduction. I think it should be equal for fencer and pistols, carbs and swords, pike and rifle.


And if you want to make it realistic.... there should only be about a 15% speed difference AT MOST even with a rifle... unless shooting. I can run pretty fast with an M-16A2 in my hand.... just can run and shoot very fast.

Its all about balance. if you could run full speed with a ranged weapon equipped, be it a rocket launcher or a pistol, then there would be no way for a melee profession to close with you. As it is now, its very difficult but possible for a brawler type to close.
