The FWG has been knocked down a few pegs by having one of it's sub-components removed making it "un-Krayt'able"

Top end damage on a current RB on my server is comperable to the FWG, around 207 or so. The rb is, however, slower than the FWG. The 207 gun mentioned above has a 2.2 speed rating.

The place where the RB shines is that it is light armor piercing. As we have few AP guns in our arsenal it was a welcome addition. It can also still be upgraded with krayt tissue, giving it even more oomph and letting it surpass the old krayt FWG's. The downside is that you will ned 3 krayt tissues to upgrade an RB, where as the FWG used to only require 1.

General consenus is that the RB is the best all around pistol in the game right now. And it sounds cool too

The Republic Blaster is also great because range doesn't matter with it. You can sit 63m away from a target and be some sort of pistol sniper, hitting as well as if you were 10m away. My Krayt RB with powerup does a max damage of 424 with 2.1 speed. I can take out most white cons before they know I'm attacking, unless they have energy resistance.

Krayt FWG 5's are still "attainable" on most servers, just cant make new ones so they may not be around for long. They FAR out power the RB's, my current FWG5 is 1.7 92-393, and with the pistoleer speed mods you dont need anything with a slower speed than 1.7 or so. I hit any where for 2000-4200 with this, Ive yet to see a RB do damage like this. I do however like to keep my Krayt DX2 with me also, as it has acid damage, AP1.

I've hit 4500+ with my republic blaster. Of course the mob was glow-juiced then knocked down, and this was with a stopping shot.

Republic Blaster has "AP", but since Armor Piercing doesnt work, FWG5 is your best bet. Tangle Pistolwould bethe best against composite if they weren't so weak. As it is now, Im hitting in PvP for almost nothing if someone has a good set of composite.

Not buying JTL. Its just more of the same bugged game.

What? I would love to know how you are hitting for 4500+damage?! The most I have ever hit for as a 4-3-4-3 pistoleer is around 1500. Can you explain how you hit for this much damage. I generally use Fan Shot and Double Tap for normal MOBS but use Stopping Shot and BS3 occasionally as well. Anyinfo on this would be great.

Hmm, you might need a new gun. With my republic blaster, I'm regularly doing 2500+ shots with Stopping Shot. Also don't forget that a nocked downned causes the shot to do much more damage. Double I think, so it's not to hard to do 4-5k shots.

His taeget was KD'ed and glow trapped ( ranged resists down). Thats how he's hittin for that kind of damage. Yes your Krayt FWG may hit for more than a regular RB, but if both guns are Krayted? A Krayt'ed DX2 takes 5 tissues, an RB only 3. It's a nice comprimise.

Yes, for PvP any energy base weapon is gonna blow as every carbineer uses a laser carb, and there are several Laser rifles floating around so most folks have high energy resist armor. Stun based weapons are best for PvP.

Um I think this whole argument is kind of pointless due to the fact that ALOT of mobs are either high energy resistant or high heat resistant or both (which means you switch to the tangle, DX2, etc). So 1 is going to be better than the other depending on you are attacking and what its vulnerabilities are.

Sure you can hit for a TON sometimes with your Rep Blaster but if its energy resistances are high, you aren't doing doing crap for damage.

And really, anybody who has gone up the pistol accuracy tree (stances?) won't have a problem hitting at 0 or 60m in PvE so the pistol type doesn't matter when it comes to accuracy.

However, PvP is quite different. Like a couple people said, the tangle pistol is your best bet against Composite wearing enemies and really if they have a template with good ranged defense you're not going to be hitting reliably no matter what range you're at even if you are a master pistoleer.

I could be wrong, this is just based on my experience.

Good points San, but the AP on the RB helps to compensate for the commoness of energy resists. No such compensation on the FWG.

Even at master pistoleer the DX2 is still majorly inaccurate, unless you are standing on your opponent.

The Republic is better. It has about equivelant stats, maybe a little slow, but maybe a little higher damage. And the important thing is it is AP Light. I only use it on larger creatures or in PvP, NPC attacks. For lower level animals though I use FWG5.

But remember, the FWG5 is heat type of damage and the Republic is Energy. So look at the defences and see what it might have defence against.
