Thread: Why I don't WANT to wield dual pistols....

But INEEDmy speciels fixed first. July 4 will be my one year anniversary for this game. The very thought that day will come and my Pistoleer specials are still borked is becoming more of a reality with each passing day. 1 freaking year /sigh.


And yet many are asking for dual weilding? Is this really the priority here? I know it isn't. But when I see these petitions for dual weilding pistoleers I wonder sometimes. Honestly if ALL our specials were working the way they were intended then pistoleer would have probably been nerfed. The possibilities and strategies you could use with this profession alone (fixed) are eye opening.


Now here comes a combat balance. How can they balance a system that is fundumentally based on abilities in each class when a good portion of combat classes cannot use all their abilities? Wouldn't it be more prudent to FIX all the classes first then step back and balance?


So no, I don't WANT dual weild pistols. However cool it may look. What I NEED, and have every RIGHT to ask for, is to wake up on July 4 2004 and get what I am paying for.

i also agree, its our profession is pretty banged up right now, lets work on the main problems first. Then to the cool and fun stuff. I agree if our specials worked, we would be a great profession.

Although dual pistols would look good and it would be a bit better weilding 2 krayte enhanced republics would be kinda sweet, the special attacks still need fixing up.

No, because the devs will end up working harder on the the dual wield, when our specials are what we need. Get our specials in line, then talk about changes, good or bad.

I'm workin on pistoleer atm because i got sick of holo grinding and wanted to have some PvP combat skills (seems the best compliment to master CH ) and i see nothing wrong with most of our specials...Fanshot - tons of damage to random pool...stopping shot does tons of damage to random pool while being slightly less than fan. Melee Defense knocks down stuff almost every time for me. Body shot does a good chunk of targetted ham damage. Health shot does a chunk of damage and then bleeds the health pool. Doesnt seem too broken to me atm. Only thing i think needs reworking is the pistols themselves. I dont think there even exists a "good" pistol, all of them may have 1 good point but about 4-5 bad points to them. There is a new post up about publish 8 that is supposedly rebalancing combat...at least a little which may solve your issue with the specials.

i want duel wield pistols simply for the sake of looking cool, it wouldnt even have to have a damage modfier, i could be doing the same damage and same accuracy at the same speed as long as both pistols shot and i looked sexy doing it



Old school MBH, now a gimp lvl 70 because I decided to renew.

Well i guess when you look at it from the pov of exactly what is supposed to happen. I only use fan shot for big groups or high DD. Bodyshot and bleeds for fighting with my pets. Melee 1 if things get scrappy. Disarming is just mean and spiteful IMO hehe. Extensive testing of all the specials has proven me wrong and i admit that the specials arent up to par on the high end. Dual pistols would definately be a boon though because I can just imagine the higher DPS that would come out of it...ala EQ rangers.

I have made it clear to Thunderheart that the fixing of our specials is our #1 priority. I broke it down something like this:


1) Fixing our specials.


2) Fixing our DPS.


3) Conceptual stuff.

You see nothing wrong? Pistol Melee Defense 2 doesn't do knockdown like it's supposed to; neither Disarming Shot 1 nor Disarming Shot 2 are useful for anything except shooting lairs; Body Shot 3 isn't significantly stronger than Body Shot 2 given how much slower and how much more HAM it costs; Multi-Target Pistol Shot is whack (not even wiggity whack); Point Blank Pistol Area 2 only hits one target instead of multiple targets (and frankly both Point Blank skills of ours are useless because we've already got great accuracy at point blank range); and lastly Double Tap is useless given that it barely does more damage than Body Shot 2 but it's definitely slower than BS2 so you might as well use BS2 and hit the Heatlh pool only rather than just hit a random pool with Double Tap.


Fan Shot works, but the AOE bugs need to be fixed (namingly how it can go through walls and how it freaks out when there's too many corpses around); Stopping Shot works fine; Pistol Melee Defense 1 works fine; Health Shot 2 works fine.


Doesn't exactly seem like nothing is wrong.
