I have made it clear to Thunderheart that the fixing of our specials is our #1 priority. I broke it down something like this:

1) Fixing our specials.

2) Fixing our DPS.

3) Conceptual stuff.

I certainly have the utmost confidence that you, and the other fine Pistoleer correspondents before you, have made these priorities clear to the development team.

The way I see it is that the Devs have a plan of action. A process of elimination if you will. Fixing one or two professions at a time each patch. They have told us before that Pistoleer is scheduled to be fixed.(August 2003 if I recall correctly)

What they will NOT tell you is that the planned fix is sitting behind what they deem more important issues. Thus pushing back the Pistoleer patch by months. And dare I say 1 year.

Then there is the proposed 'Droid Handler' Profession that TH said the DE's were asking for. What an uproar that caused on their forum. So it would not suprise me in the least if we can't do with two pistols what we cannot do with one.

Pessimist? No, I am just a Master Pistoleer since longer than I want to remember.

I'm workin on pistoleer atm because i got sick of holo grinding and wanted to have some PvP combat skills (seems the best compliment to master CH ) and i see nothing wrong with most of our specials...Fanshot - tons of damage to random pool...stopping shot does tons of damage to random pool while being slightly less than fan. Melee Defense knocks down stuff almost every time for me. Body shot does a good chunk of targetted ham damage. Health shot does a chunk of damage and then bleeds the health pool. Doesnt seem too broken to me atm. Only thing i think needs reworking is the pistols themselves. I dont think there even exists a "good" pistol, all of them may have 1 good point but about 4-5 bad points to them. There is a new post up about publish 8 that is supposedly rebalancing combat...at least a little which may solve your issue with the specials.

Stoppingshot is more powerful than Fanshot. Bodyshot 2 and 3 do so little damage that it's sickening. It's actually just better to use HealthShot 2 because it does more initial damage than either of the Bodyshot's. Master Pistoleer is actually pretty decent in PvE right now (still not as powerful as others) but our PvP is gross. What we need along with fixed specials is more accuracy and speed mods because defense stackers will still be running rampant after the patch. Also, when the frick are they gonna fix the dismount warp when you get off of your swoop?!!!

I think we just need to get priorities... fix the specials first.. then we can get dual pistols ...

Here here.I also disagree with the entire principle. The idea that we would need to pay for and maintain TWO weapons in order to be comparable with other elites (presuming that we *are* indeed fixed sometime in the distanct future) is laughable. Our weapons wear out quickly now, how frustrating would it be drop what we're doing and visit the local repair guy/shopping mall TWICE as often?

Furthermore, as cool as it looks in Unreal, Matrix, The Crow and Last Man Standing, it isn't particularly Star Wars. The only example of its use was on a Bounty Hunter. How many of you would like to see more pistol abilities granted to BHs?

Take the blue pill,Ô
Play SWG, never dual-wield your pistols and believe whatever you want to believe.
Take the red pill,Ô
Play MxO, and I will show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

SWG was never the game I wanted it to be, even before the NGE. All the NGE did is take away what gameplay SWG actually did have.

Why oh why cant we sling our rifles or carbines on our backs or holster our pistols...thats bloody insanity. I mean planetside can do it, daoc can do it (not rifles of course).

Somehow I doubt (in fact I know for certain) that Planetside can be compared to SWG. Planetside isn't exactly the most complex MMOG out there, so they can afford to spend more time on the pretty/fun/extra stuff.

But INEEDmy speciels fixed first. July 4 will be my one year anniversary for this game. The very thought that day will come and my Pistoleer specials are still borked is becoming more of a reality with each passing day. 1 freaking year /sigh.

And yet many are asking for dual weilding? Is this really the priority here? I know it isn't. But when I see these petitions for dual weilding pistoleers I wonder sometimes. Honestly if ALL our specials were working the way they were intended then pistoleer would have probably been nerfed. The possibilities and strategies you could use with this profession alone (fixed) are eye opening.

Now here comes a combat balance. How can they balance a system that is fundumentally based on abilities in each class when a good portion of combat classes cannot use all their abilities? Wouldn't it be more prudent to FIX all the classes first then step back and balance?

So no, I don't WANT dual weild pistols. However cool it may look. What I NEED, and have every RIGHT to ask for, is to wake up on July 4 2004 and get what I am paying for.

haha cool me too

i want duel wield pistols simply for the sake of looking cool, it wouldnt even have to have a damage modfier, i could be doing the same damage and same accuracy at the same speed as long as both pistols shot and i looked sexy doing it

Personally I don't want to look cool, I want to look like I'm in Star Wars. Number of characters we saw dual wielding pistols in the movies? 1. Number of characters we will see dual wielding pistols in SWG? Everyone that can. Forget about style and go for immersion. Just my two credits on the subject not meant as a flame or anything.

Out of all the combat professions and hybrid professions i've made, i never have more then two pistoleer specials in one toolbar...ever.

I've tried every possible pistoleer / something combo and each time the most pistoleer specials i've had have been two.

Whilst BH/pistoleer i had stopping shot and fanshot

Whilst smuggler/pistoleer I had fanshot

With every other combat profession you need to use a series of attacks to even be decent in a fight. With pistoleer, you've only got 3 attacks that do what they want. Pretty crappy.

Make our toolbar more varied and fix the damn specials!

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous statements

We do need specials fixed to be a combat profession that is balanced with the other professions out there. In order to even have a 'chance' in PvP I've taken Dirty Fighting alongside Master Pistol, and its a shame all those extra points need to be used to make pistols even worthwhile. The extra cost/maintenece of dual weilding pistols (which again, everyone would do in order to be 'the best') far outweighs the 'cool factor'.

With regard to holsters, I really like the idea. However planetside has only eightpre-set player models for each faction that use holsters (male/female versions of standard/infiltrator/light armour/heavy armour). The vastly customisable SWG characters would cause a much larger problem with bugged graphics (bandoliers and belts are still very buggy in they way they sit around the character models), and consequently a LOT of work for the art department to get right. We may hopefully see this in the future, but I'm all for getting what we have at the moment fixed
