I've got a relatively encouraging story from a couple days ago...
I'm currently 4-1-4-3 Pistoleer, with BH Pistols.I decided to do go overt to help a noob friend of mine join my faction. Knowing that enemy overts show up at the worst times, I decided it wise to get buffed and put on my %30 stun PvP armor before heading to the nearest Starport.
Once I get to the starport, lo and behold! An overt rifleman! Spotting my Trickshot title, the rifleman immedeatly goes in for an easy kill. I panic a little bit, hearing stories from the forums of mass genocide induced by riflemen, and decide to play this battle safe.
The rifleman switches from his T-21 to his Jawa Blaster, ready to blow me into tiny, ionized chunks. He begins firing off head shots, running from me. I apply my DoTs, the blind that is eyeshot, and run up to the enemy rifleman...
Who, in one attempt, is KD'dby PMD1.
I stared at the screen fora moment, before coming to my senses and blasting the Rifleman's mind straight into the depths of hell. He never got to stand up before being deathblowed.
(on a side note, the Rifleman never accused me of exploiting, nor did he send me hate tells, like I expected. Damn the forum propaganda!)
So, there youhave it. A story of inspiration for people that think we Pistol users are useless in PvP.
Or it's further proof that pistol users are useless without Eyeshot.Either way, I feel proud to've annihlated a Rifleman.
Unfortunately, I didn't take any screenshots of my first real PvP kill

I love being a Pistoleer, i really do. It's not as boring and unpersonal asa rifleman, it's not as self mutilating asa carbineer. I love getting in people faces and blasting their eyeballs out of their sockets. It makes me all warm inside...
I do rely almost completely on eyeshot though, with it i manage to kill my master Carbineer guildmate more often than i lose. Then again neither of us has a 'competitive' PvP weapon. One thing i noticed, much to my annoyance, is that he finds me a lot easier to knock down than i do him. He's dabbled in the pistoleer defencesbranch and i guess the carbineer KD is just more effective than our PMD1.
How important of a role do DOTs play in PvP? I'm Master Pistoleer with the pistol branch in BH.

DOTs are your best weapon as a Pistoleer. Because of your lower damage output atm, you have to rely on as many DOTs to boost your DPS as you can. I use HealthShot1 and 2, the Modified Republic Blaster, and then drop three BleedingShots on my target (random pool, random pool bleed, so you may need a few to stick a health bleed). The problem with that, though, is that if you apply four Health Bleeds and spam EyeShot, you're not actually going to help yourself at all. If you just spam EyeShot, you might as well use BleedingShot and hope for a Mind Bleed, and then spam EyeShot. But four Health Bleeds and a nice HealthShot2 spam can bring an opponent down fast too.
I dueled a friend of mine the other day (TK/Pistoleer/Fencer), and I found my HealtShot2 attacks to be more effective than EyeShot, actually.... weird!

I was only spamming eyeshot because he still has some medic skill he's yet to drop. I am not so stuck in my ways that i can't change *grins*.
Thanks for the advice, i'll try it out on him later!

Ah yes, the infamous Medic skills! I love having Medic... Healing is this PvPer's best friend! I keep toying with the idea of dropping it, but I really just can't.

If you had to choose between novice medic or novice brawler, bearing in mind you plan to hunt down and kill Jedi, which would you choose?

brawler, stim b's will do shag all against saber dam, at least with brawler u can intimidate and warcry (non exploitingly of course).

If all I ever did was fight Jedi, then prolly Novice Brawler. But I don't just fight Jedi, and I do lots of PvE stuff, often unbuffed... so I think Medic. Against anyone except a Jedi, Medic is very useful for me. I use First Aid 2 so I can heal Bleed too.

Nice story, shame you had to have BH skills to accomplish this
glad to see PMD did its job though

Yeah, when agood Pistoleer with some decent weaponry and no Bounty Hunter skills can be a foe worth reckoning, THEN we'll have achieved our final, nefarious outcome!

i disagree...i am mpistoleer; bh pistols, and fencer 0/4/3/0...and i am now having no trouble at all with most professions...not including CM/jedi...the key is staying on your feet and a good blaster...i have the dodge cap and KD defense of 100....and a 408w/pup geo. i usually use torso shot, but if they can heal that then i switch to eyeshot with a bleed and thats usually all it takes. dropping BH pistols to pick up defencesis good too...but i think both templates are competative, and food and equipment is the difference maker.

Umm... Congrats. Except that my point was that most Pistoleers will be happy when we can be a worthy foe without the help of BH skills and defense stacking Fencer onto our temp.

Yes, you use torso shot with your suped up geo...but if they even have novice medic (which many who serioulsy PVP do) then you switch to eye shot...both of which are BH specials...and you enjoy a nice speed and accuray boost from BH...his point was we want to be that competitive without needing BH Pistols Line...so we can use Healthshot 2 and....and...hrm... well PMD1 too!
