Thread: Redevelopment of the DX2...

As a pistoleer, I have only used the DX2 against one creature. The rancor. Other than that I would rather use a Scout Blaster or a FWG5because of the greater range and damage. I would really like to see the Pistoleer get another weapon certification or redevelop the DX2. As it stands now, I see no need to even use the DX2 over the FWG5 and the Scout Blaster (unless the mob you are killing is specifically acid vulnerable). With the FWG5 nerf going live soon, there would much less complaining and flaming going on ifyou (the devs)decided to upgrade the DX2 to a gun along the lines of the Scatter Pistol (in damage, speed, but most importantly range)....If you wanted to make them different, change the DX2 to a cold damage gun or something with a different type of damage than the Scatter. These are just my thoughts and suggestions on the DX2...I welcome all feedback and hope that this will get the attention of the Devs. Thanks!

We all agree with you 100%. It's one of the top issues we've presented in the past, and one of the top issues in the "State of the Profession" Report I'll be posting for the Devs soon.

Good Idea..

It makes sense that if an animal is vulnerable to cold, shouldnt there be a frion based gun somewhere?

Why make it vulnerable to something that I have never seen?

With the new FW/scatter/launcher nerfs, the DX2 will be better than the scatter pistol. My current production DX2 is 93-150 damage @ 2.4 speed. I can add more damage with the advanced barrel but it takes away speed, which for a high level gunfighter is not an issue until you start spamming stopshot or fanshot. Because the speed of the special scales with the speed of the pistol, .2 seconds actually count. After the removal of the power handler from these weapons the scatter will be about the same as the DX2, with the remaining advantage of accuracy. This is a bug with the DX2, the ideal should have a +20 mod at 8m istead of a -26, which in turn should be at 0m. This is the bug that is ripping the DX2 apart. The only other item that really get's me is the resources needed to build a DX2 Vs. a scatter, being that the DX2 needs 4 power handlers as opposed to one which will be taken care of with the removal of handlers from the scatter. I hope this makes you feel a little better. My personal carry is a sliced DX2 with 121-195 damage @ 2.4 speed. You just can't beat that bruiser. On the hunting worlds I have never even drawn my FW, unless we are killing Bols. I use a 94-192 3.1 speed SR combat pistol (sliced) for killing anything that is resistant to my DX2 (Pikets, gurreks, so on.. so forth). I think people need to give the DX2 and other pistols a chance, although if the devs want to beef it's base stats I am ALL for it.

I kind of disagree with the range thing. One need not fear getting xp after the fanshot nerfif they have a pet, a DX2 and pointblankarea

Thats one of the least talked about attacks we have that works pretty good. All you need to do, is go to the krayt canyon and get about 15 banthas on your pet and WASTE em with pointblankarea.

Also if you have a GOOD pet you can bait voritor hunters and trackers on Dantooine, They are only vunerable to acid, and have light armor, so your pet probably wont be able to hurt them much at all while you can shoot them all day long with a pointblank area like they had no armor at all for 4.5k pistol xp a piece.

Riflemen have it - it's called the SBG2 or something like that.

The DX2 is my default AP pistol also. Nope, when I'm fighting Krayts or Force Dweebs with high armor and no vulnerabilites, i bust out an old worn-out DX2 and hose them them with body shots.

I recently got a krayt SR combat pistol, and the stats are decent, but I haven't really been able to figure out in which situations it might be better.

Are we forgetting the AP1? That is the only reason I use my DX2. Against any non Armored enemy, I do about 1K damage (top end double tap) with my FW. Against an armored enemy, I was doing 400-600. I switched to my DX, and got 1200 hits. So it definately has it's place. The acid damage is nice too, but really, Heat works just aswell in most cases. My experience has beenmost thingsresistant to energyare open to Acid AND Heat.

I'm a little new to this stuff, so if you guys are already taking that into account, I apologize.

Wouldn't it be so cool if there were some way to be able to play this game without requiring a pet?

You can, just go PvP. Leave the PvE to the people who can handle it.

Oh, and this PBA thing...it's all changing post-patch becuase anti-CH whiners made the dev's change creature AI's so they are more likely to go after the CH (or others in the group) rather than staying focused on the pet.

Congrats.

Unfortunately the armor piercing for the DX2 doesn't work if the enemy is vulnerable to acid -- this is a global bug, but it affects the DX2.
