Thread: Redevelopment of the DX2...
Make friends with a melee professional and let him/her be your pet!
Or just take up a melee profession.

Does the AP bug just affect acid guns like the DX2 or is it global in the sense that ANY AP gun doesn't get AP damage if the creature is vulnerable to its damage type?
Also wondering if your damage goes up as your aim improves? I've seen several people talk about 1200 dmg with double-tap, which I have yet to see. I average around 800 dmg with a dx2 (or fwg5) on stopping shot? Am I missing something? Perhaps I just have a crappy pistol. DX2 is sliced 70-148 dmg 1.4 speed. I've looked for better pistols but I'm seeing them top out at about 180 (unless you find a Krayt FWG).
The AP bug affects weapons of all damage types, but in PvE you see the problem most with weapons that spit out acid damage because so many mobs have a vulnerability to acid.
The people who post about these insane amounts of damage are generally 1) using uber Krayt enhanced weapons -- not just the normal 30 tissues, but the real good stuff, and 2) are reporting damage against enemies who are knocked down (50% damage increase against a knocked down enemy). Since Pistoleer only has a 7m range melee knockdown and no ranged knockdown, the enemy was usually knocked down using skills from another profession.

Wouldn't it be so cool if there were some way to be able to play this game without requiring a pet?
Thats one of the least talked about attacks we have that works pretty good. All you need to do, is go to the krayt canyon and get about 15 banthas on your pet and WASTE em with pointblankarea.
Also if you have a GOOD pet you can bait voritor hunters and trackers on Dantooine, They are only vunerable to acid, and have light armor, so your pet probably wont be able to hurt them much at all while you can shoot them all day long with a pointblank area like they had no armor at all for 4.5k pistol xp a piece.
You can, just go PvP. Leave the PvE to the people who can handle it.
Oh, and this PBA thing...it's all changing post-patch becuase anti-CH whiners made the dev's change creature AI's so they are more likely to go after the CH (or others in the group) rather than staying focused on the pet.
Congrats.
people being able to tank crap just because they were a CH was crap.
So you get 2 branches in scout then go grab CH and you can kill anyhting in this game? Thats total BS
no other profession in this game could solo what a CH could. Try telling a pistoleer/marksman to go kill something 30CL's above him.
ill be doin a jig on the heads of all CH's when this patch comes out.
on the note of the DX2, it stinks no matter hwat way you look at it. I even have one with 130-210 sliced damage and i still have weapons i prefer to use over it. Half the time i use it is just because i liek the green beams. Also the ugliest weapon of all.
beef up the tangles!
I carry a metal DL44. its not as good a the FWG but its better then the scout in my mind.
My stats are 69 - 200 damage 1.4 speed thats without a powerup. I use it all the time against energy vulnerable mobs like greater womp rats.

Im sure they are just using better pistols, accuracy does not affect damage, other than missing less often.

I want the DL-44 beefed up.....it was the heavy blaster pistol of choice in Star Wars....yet are never seen in SWG.
Amen! This is the pistol made famous by Han Solo! There should be a "high-end" variant of the DL44 for us to use. Ah well, we can hope...
The DX2 is a decent pistol for certain situations. I'm a Master WS and have crafted every pistol and tried them all out. ALL I use is a DX2, Krayt FWG5 or Krayt DH17.
I got a lucky schematic and made alittle over 200 of a 111-170 damage 2.1 speed DX2. With a 33% Damage Slice and 16/33% Powerup, this DX2 is doing 171-300 damage.
I also have a 90ish-450 damage 1.4 speed FWG5 and a Damage Sliced Krayt DH17 that does 152-322 damage with 1.5 speed.
I use the FWG5 for PVP and the DX2 against Grauls, the Krayt DH17 against any "cat" like pet. Most of them have no resistance to Energy damage and I can kill a GSP in 5 seconds or a Graul in 10 seconds. All you do is initiate combat from distance, or pistol whip if close, then retreat as the Graul will NEVER catch you and GSP will be dead by the time it can hit you.
I quit using Fan Shot as it targets all HAM poosts. I strictly use Body Shot 3 now as it targets only the health pool. I can usually incap any unbuffed Overt foe in4 to8 shots with my FWG5 even if they are wearing composite armor. I don't even bother to use bleeds to start, I just spam BS3.
Getting back to the DX2 issue, I think the appropriate fix should be a crafting change and have Power Handlers factor the damage a weapon can do. A single PH weapon should be starter and do basic damage and multi-PH weapons should have their damage multiplied. The DX2 uses 4 PH's, so increase it's damage an appropriate amount. The Elite Carbine uses 5 PH's, this approach would certainly make all Carbineer's happy. Doing the same thing to the T21 Rifle would make all Riflemen happy.
If this was done, they'd have to restructure some of the weapons requiring multiple PH's. I'd move the Laser weapons down to 2 PH's and the Heavy Commando's down to 1 PH and let there specials do the big damage. I don't feel it's fair a novice commando can one shot somebody if there Flame Thrower hits and sets them on fire.
The fix to the Scatter Pistol and movement of Eye Shot to the Master BH box is the perfect solution. Maybe require 2 Projectile Feed Mechs in the Scatter and Launcher Pistol, keep one in the FWG5.
and yes the SG82 Rifle does Cold Damage and the Jawa Ion Rifle does Stun damage (ignore composite).
I'd also improve the Tangle Pistol factoring in the quality of the Control Unit and giving it 2 PFM's as well. The best Tangle I can craft is 47-106 damage with 3.2 speed. Even with a 35% speed slice, you're only getting 2.1 speed which is TOO SLOW for this pistol to even be used. a 2.1 speed DX2, for some reason, fires much faster than a 2.1 speed Tangle as well. It's weird.
And just for the record, my normal DX2's are 96-155 damage 2.3 speed or 103-161 damage 2.5 speed. This is TOO SLOW for a Master Pistoleer.
My soon to be nerfed non-Krayt FWG5's are 63-215 damage 1.7 speed and my DH17 is 100-153 damage 1.8 speed. Any Krayt FWG5 or DH17 with a damage slice is the PERFECT speed for PVP or PVE game play but a 2.5 speed DX2? C'mon!!!!
