Pistoleer
Primary Role: Close Range Crowd Control (Attacker Control)
Secondary Role: Opponent Damage Reduction (Attacker Modifiers)
Offense: Weak(2)
Defense: Moderate(3)
Crowd Control: Strong(4)


The Pistoleer is a lightweight combat specialist. They move quickly around the field of battle softening up targets and reducing their effectiveness. The damage output of the Pistoleer is relatively low but given time and careful tactical control they are still fully capable of taking out targets on their own. The Pistoleer's abilities truly shine though when combined with a well organized group.


Pistoleers are similar in function as a Pikeman. They are more potent in their ability to reduce a target's combat effectiveness and make their opponents weaker in defensive ability. While Pistoleer skills may not create a significant power increase, it can be combined with many other profession's skill abilities to create a significant increase in tactical opportunity.


Profession Mixing Tip: As a versatile close to medium ranged combatant, Pistoleer can benefit greatly from other similar ranged professions. For example, a Pistoleer can add Teras Kasi or Bounty Hunter skills for defensive abilities or Carbineer skills for increased offensive and crowd control ability.

bounty hunter for defnsive capbilities?

I thougth bounty hunter was designed and was locked as a offensive profession :-(

Since when are Pistols used for crowd control anyways? I have yet to see someone giving supression fire or cover fire on the field using a pistol?!


Oh man... and here I thought they would do any good stuff with the CU.

Just wait and see what the whole CURB brings - this is an MMORPG - not profession is meant to be a standalone profession, they are meant to work together and interract with others- quoting changes to one profession in isolation does not make any sense or allow anyone to make any conclusions.

According to the CU infos the old and new uber Template will be something like TKA / Swordsman. Best damage "Avoidance" with best "Close Damage". 'nuff saied.

You know my only real disappointment with this is that just from what they were saying pistoleer would suck in pvp. Doesnt it seem that pistoleer would be much better versed in PvP than PvE... think gunslinger, old west. Just my thoughts... carbineer or rifleman really should have been the crowd control. I guess we will see. I hope SOE is careful with this... SWG rests on this CURB


If they are really going to make our crowd control abilities viable, they have got to fix the issue of agroing things in other room, otherwise you will still have people freaking about you using fanshot ya know. Nice way to hamstring us out of the gate if they dont.

Uhm... I must confess I completely ignored the "what would you want pistoleers to be" thread after replying, but I seem to recall crowd control or the likes actually being quite highly sought after.


And what damage capability are we losing exactly? The one we had? You're joking right?


We're being given a clearly defined role in group combat (heck, we might even *gasp* be desierable in group hunts! When was the last time you heard someone go "yay, a pistoleer joined the group!" And no Badger, you don't count =P ), we're basically having the same role as we've always had rebalanced (high defense, low offense) to a hopefully working condition.


Like with BH, the only way to go is "up" and just fixing our current setup of low offense/high defense would have been good, but we're getting both a role and additional abilites to support it. What's that saying, don't look into the mouth of gifthorse?

This is crap, Pistoleers have been always an offencive/One on one postition... now they are making it light defencive crown control... This is the biggest load of crap i have yet to see... turning this game into evercrack is not the answer, and this is a lame attempt at it... they even put the abb Mezzer in the crowd controll section of the diagram, as if this is some d&d crap.

If I get the "crowd control" label correctly, Crowd Control means crippling abilities. Im ok with that. Pistoleer damage rate always sucked anyway.

Besides, if this means we get a set of WORKING specials this time, its ok with me.




Besides that, I also have an annoying sig that looks like part of the post.

Crowd controll = area attacks (aka softening enemys and not somthing that can solo enemys)
