Thread: No FWG Nerf! Anyone with me??

I have been playing SWG for a while now, and all I really see form the developer side is nerf after nerf after nerf... Here is the situation, I am a MCM and 0-4-4-4 in pistoleer. So far I haven't seen many good things come TO the pistoleer class, only TAKEN away... We have only 1 specific weapon (that doenst work anyway), and our special are still weak. However the good thing i loved really (that kept our class alive, and worth anything in battle) was the FWG (krayt enhanced). I myself have a pair of kryat fwg's that i love using. If these 'developers' nerf the FWG, to what the rumors are, then it will be another crippling blow to this class. I mean WHY nerf it? whats so wrong with it in the first place? why not nerf the BH scatter (now that is an overpowered pistol)? Its like they keep nerfing the weak classes and leaving the better ones alone? I willprobably drop pistoleer if this nerf goes down.. whats the point of keeping it? I dont understand the logic of pi**ing off your fan base? Why try to lose customers? Why not make them happy? ... Oh, i forgot, its not like we pay to play this game, anyway....

The problem issupply and demand. If they put a bunch of pistols throughout the elite profession crafters would craft even less of them than they already do. If everyone and the gurreck couldn't use a FWG5 with relative ease they would be relatively rare. Crafters wouldn't see much point in building them and would be pissed that what they build is usable by a small number of people. Pretty soon you are left with vendors with nothing but marksman certed weapons on them and a few elite combat weapons. Pretty soon the elite professions are using marksman guns again because those are the ones that get the most experimentation and best resources because they sell the fastest.
The other part of the problem is that as weapon crafters go up through their profession they would have to wait for the advanced combat professions to catch up before its even remotely worth it to make some weapons. So a small handful of powergamers would want the advanced weapons for a month ortwo at server start while the poor weaponcrafter is stuck making endless scout blasters. So your scout blaster price gets set at 10k early on and the later weapons have an exponential leap in price because...they aren't going to be priced less. Pretty soon you are paying 40k for a normal FWG5 and 100k (not talking krayt, talking what you got in the first month or two of the game) for a good one because its only worth it to sell one or two of them to the elite professions. The elite professions are stuck because they want to use their guns and there are no real random loot drops to be had so they are forced to pay whatever price is set. The player economy gets ugly if only a few different professions can use a craftable item. Imagine if only BH could use Composite Armor. It would be astronomically expensive because no one would make it on a regular basis. They'd make whatever everyone could use and special order the composite, for outrageous prices. It would also suck as a general rule except for the one or two crafters who dedicated themselves to making the best possible specialty composite for their PA or friends or alt. Then you could get good armor but again it would be even more expensive. Or imagine if combat droids could only be used by Squad Leaders. You'd rarely see a combat droid for sale. What would be the point of it?
So no, we are better off with the certs the way they are currently.

**edit**!? What the hell do you mean "leaving the better ones alone"? I don't know if you've been keeping up with current events, pal (Aliens quote) , but BH is, has been, and is continually beingB-R-O-K-E-N. That's the whole reason I decided to take the pistoleer route instead of BH, because it's been a pretty stable class for the 4 months that I've been playing this game. You dare to think that you're getting nerfed bad? Why don't you take a little trip over to the BH forum to find out about what they're having to going through. BH is a second rateprofession that can barely functionas it is and you people don't even realize it.
We have it easy compared to those people considering our flexibilty in skill pointdistributionby being able to EXTENSIVELY dabble into other classes likesmuggler, medic, and/or CH,which in turn makes us extremely powerful in almost all aspects of the game. The BH's are going to pretty much lose thier last viable PvP special "eyeshot", which really isn't THAT powerful considering it only does 250 damage in PvP to a player WITHOUT a helmet (which means that person is a complete retard), while we get stopping shot, which does roughly 500 dmg/sec in PvP with a good pistol at master level, which is a one shot kill for a lot of people. Pistoleers have been dominating the PvP scene and this next patch is only going to strengthen that. And with the new CH adjustment,BH's aregoing to lose a lot of their viability in PvE because BH's have almost no defense mods whatsoever. If anything, we're getting a boost, not a nerf, in the next big patch because our defenses are actually getting increased, a lot (which, by the way, the BH's will not, at all), so stop complaining aboutthe FWG5getting nerfed and suggesting that scatter gets nerfed instead. We're still way better off than BH is.
Now, before you guys get pissed off by this, and I know you will, just realize that I'm not trying to flame anyone here. I just want youall to realize that BH has taken more crippling blows than ANY other class in this game. At least our class is still fully functional, but it seems like every week BH's are drifting more and more into obscurity with each bigpatch.
Bottom line: do your research, then flame.

As a elite profession the pistoleer should have the largest array of pistols. Each with there particular strengths. The marksman pisol line should have only had some basic pistols in it.
It was originally that way but the cries from the beta testers caused the Dev's to cave despite their better judgement and migrate alot of what had been meant as elite weapons down into the marksman lines.
Now of course, the player crafters are fully realizing the full potential of these weapons and the devs can't possibly concieve of migrating them back into the elite professions. Nooooooo, now the only choice that can be concieved of is to 'adjust' the weapons themselves to balance them.
I still think the weapons cert system stinks. I think there should have been a weapons usage skill similar to the medical usage skill. Weapons could have a base requirement that would be modified by the weapons performance.
Such a system would limit the super uber weapons to the masters while the rest filter down based on where you are in the trees.
what I'm suggesting would decrease demand. You are right there, but it won't decrease it to anywhere near what todays supply is. So the Uber pistols will still be in high demand, just not as high as now. Yeah we'll see a lot more activity on what would then be marksman weapons but not so much as to seriously displace current production of what would be the elite weapons. So maybe some weaponsmiths wont get /tell'd to death and burn out like so many do now.
On you second point though, I'm a little confused. We're not talking about a fresh server here. We're talking about a fairly mature server with plenty of master weaponsmiths. As far as the powergamers go, though, you can cry me a river. I've played since launch. I remember when there were no masters armorsmiths and peeps were crying for composite or even chitin. Some of them got rather beligerant and down right rude on the boards and in person about it. People with attitudes like that arn't getting any sympathy at all from this Rodian.
On your third point I'm also a little confused. Only a BH can use a scatter pistol. That's a cool pistol and I'd love to have one, but I don't wanna be a BH so I do without. Only Commandos have the launcher pistol. That one is just plain cool to watch in action. No pistol goes BOOM like a launcher!
As for your examples, Armor tends to be self limiting. Just any n00b isn't gonna just don a sst of composite. No profession/race combo has the secondary stats to equip composite straight out of the box. Even if you are intelligent and migrate before you get planetside you still can't wear a fresh suit of composite. You gotta get it sliced first.
Without a cert system, ANY n00b could pull out an uber FWG5 and start cutting down things far above them to the point where the starter planets would be a joke. As it stands with mere marksman running around with these weapons, there arn't many challenges on the starters
Well, this nerf comes I for one will do something. I will quit. I have re-up'ed my account for the last time if this is the case.
I played beta for 3 months, started my Master Pistoleer from day one with that as the chosen class only to find me being nerfed every time I log on. Now they are taking away the one pistol worth a sh!t? DX2s are crap, Tangle and Strikers are a joke, Republic Blasters are no good sept wall hangings.
Hey!!! Lets nerf the FWG5 too!!! Why let Gunslingers have a F|_|CKING chance!
