Thread: Riflemen own me... bad

OK... I've been a master pistoleer for a looooong time now. I'm thinking I'm finally going to say **edit** this class and go rifleman. I get pwned in 2 shots (unbuffed, through 72% composite) vs master riflemen adv. strafe shot every time. That happens in 2 seconds flat... and then the ranged DB usually on the 3rd shot (third second). With rifles that can do quadriple the damage of the best pistol at the same speed as the fastest pistol, and target the mind pool, with huge bleed capability, blah blah blah, why the hell am I playing this pitifull gay little BROKEN class? Well, I'm not anymore. Rifleman obviously is WAY more powerfull... (Then take into consideration the Jawa Ion gun which is stun damage which passes through composite like butter)... I don't know what all the riflemen did (DEV BJ's anyone?) to one up every other ranged class, but I'm jumping on that bandwagon. Screw this pistol class I spent so long working on, I've had it.


(OH, and so you know, I usually use a prenerf FWG5 with 98-419 damage at 1.5 speed) You'd think that would be uber, LOL... any average T-21 rifle shoots faster and does more damge... how gay (at master rifleman vs master pistoleer... don't get all gay on me)

lol yeah i was defending base last night and a rifleman used masterheadshot and did close to 900 damage in 1 shot lol **edit** is that all about

The Krayt FWG is the worst gun you could possibly use in PvP. Look at the spread on that thing. Ranged mitigation3 eats those guns alive. I keep mine on the wall in my house now. To rare to PvE with, to random for PvP.

98-419 against ranged mit3. 419-98=321 point damage spread. Reduce by %60=128.4

That ALL comes off the top end, so your Uber gun is effectively a 98-291 AP0 weapon using heat damage. Anyone NOT wearing composite with at least %50 base resists?

a max value hit with this gun on autofire against an opponent in the aforementioned %50 comp is,

291*1.5( damage multiplyer for auto-fire)= 436.5*%50 (reduction for AP0 vs AP1)=218.25*%50 (damage type resist)=109.125. It gets even more ugly when you figger in specails as now your burning HAM to be ineffective.

Your Uber gun is considerably less effective in PvP vs master rifleman than that pathetic looking tangle you rarely use.
I agree %100 that the Jawa Ion is a mean gun. AP1 stun eats almost all armor alive. Look for a PSG with a decent stun rating. They are expensive but can really save yer head from these guys. My fav Armorsmith on my server now has %36 stun layerd comp helmets. Not great, but better than nothing. You will need some very special tools to help fight a rifleman and even then there is no way to be sure you'll win. Once this defensive stack nerf goes thru there will be less TKA/riflemen so kiting/closing will be viable options again.

give me one of those my best rifle is a T21 Stocked that dmg sliced and max dmg powerup 209-645. HAM cost 107mind.


the pistol is the tangle nice little pistol, used it when i was a pistoleer

Yeah, I think riflemen *should* hit hard, but hitting you at 1/shot per second to the dome from 5 metres away, while running, is over the top.

Agreed.


When we go on base attacks we ALWAYS send a crew after the enemy riflemen as soon as they are spotted. They are IMHO the most overpowered group in the game. With damage mitigation in place and no longer suffering from the 2.5x damage nerf the master rifleman is the ultimate field of combat master. I have seen a master rifleman completely control the field of battle time and time again.


No one should be able to "one shot" anyone in pvp.

A Rifleman's accuracy shold be shot to hell if he is moving and/or is within 20m of his target.

I've been thinking the same thing, switching to rifleman, but they are so obviously overpowered and so unbalancing that it'sinevitable that in this patch or the next they'll be nerfed into the stone age.


So I'm going to wait it out and see what we're like against the new rifleman. And btw, I feel your pain. I'm constantly 3-shotted by riflemen.


Once the decay is removed from PvP, my 1mil apiece stun resistant comp will come out of storage. Til then, I die. :-)

Its called the tango pistol...and the stats really suck on it. For the time being Rifleman Pwn all but after the imfamous nerf bat comes it will be a different story. Look around for stun layored armor...its your only chance, and carry alot of moun and fishnaks.

I find the only way to beat these guys is to run at them and try a get a PMD1 in and hope for the best, but if you have rogue panic shot then low blow and i never lose to a rifleman.

Rifleman/defense stacker here. I have been raking in the kills since I hit master.

- Our point blank accuracy needs to be nerfed.
- Our accuracy while moving needs to be nerfed.
- Our melee defense bug (which helps us a lot) needs to be fixed.

But I'll only be happy with the above nerfs under the following conditions:

- Our accuracy while prone/kneeling remains untouched.
- Our damage and speed remains untouched.
- Supression shot is made to work a hell of a lot better.

The idea is if you can get inside our death zone, you can beat us. Furthermore, to be maximally effective, we must become immobile. However, although we cannot win at close range, we have a tool (suppression shot) that works at close range to try to jockey back into an advantageous position.

I think this would be fun for me, because i would have to think about kneeling, lying prone, using an effect shot rather than a damage shot, saving my burst run, etc. Yes, I want a reason to use Cover in PvP. Currently my tactics are to run around like a monkey (trying to maintain 64m but it doesn't really matter) spam my max damange t-21 with strafeshot2 and/or mindshot3 until I win. (I have a low-ham t-21 and a jawa and I never use them.) About the only interesting choices that I get to make is what pattern of SS2 and HS3 I use to win the fastest. Sometimes I forget to eat my pate and win anyways because I only shot 3 times. Winning is so easy that it's not fun. (I do lose against kd/dizzy, but I just bumped my melee defense from 134 to 161, and I have another 25 coming, plus 20 more d.vs.kd/dizzy. Furthermore, whether or not I have defense, the only tactics I can use against kd/dizzy is to kite... *yawn* not exactly rocket science there.)

I had a blast the other day fighting 4 rebels, killing two and incapping a third. I'm guessing they were all master level fighters, at least two of them were. There were at least one TKA and one Commando, and they were fully outfitted. I had so much fun, I actually was challenged to use all my best tactics, landing some bleeds and some stun, switch to my jawa on one guy... but I bet the first guy that I mowed down in the first 5 seconds of the fight with a few t-21 HS3s didn't think the game was very balanced. It took a lot of time and luck to bring me down... 1) landing a firedot 2) landing a warcy to stop me from healing 3) landing a shot, any shot, to finish the job. all three were difficult tasks.

BTW, this is purely my opinion. To paraphrase a cliche, ask 10 rifleman where they think the profession should go, you'll get 11 answers. We don't know if we are snipers, machine gunners, assault troops, artillery men. Another disclaimer is that I am not speaking as a rifleman... I am speaking as a rifleman/defense stacker. But my aim is to be maximally effective in PvP, and I would be selling myself short if I refrained from using all the tools available to me when I know I'll be facing others without the same inhibitions.

I could go on forever with my ideas how to make each profession fufill a unique role...
