Hi all, I am almost pistols III, and would like to know a fast way to get xp (fun too would be nice) and what tree to go up first when I get there.Would the geonosian cave work for me? What planet would all you suggest? Is there any special that would help?

2.Could anybody out there also help me with picking a weapon? I have 300k or so. Could you also tell me the stats on what you would think a good weapon is? I'm not sure what to invest in, and would like to know. Also, if there is any good weapon vendors out there, could you spare the WPs? What should I go for? Speed or damage? What are good HAM costs?

3.I have some good comp armour, and I have plenty of brandy. Should I buy spices or different foods? What are the spices/foods mods?

4.Should I bring a pet? I am dropping MCH soon, but I have a couple mereks that each are level 40 and have 10700 HAM all around.

5.How should I migrate my stats as a pistoleer? ( If you could help on this one, tell me what you have and the numbers you think would be good for me.... I am also a human )

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and please do not refer me to many FAQs and such, I would like all your opinions

(A) Just go to Dantooine Mining outpost and hunt Janta and Mokk... They are sort of fun.

2.Could anybody out there also help me with picking a weapon? I have 300k or so. Could you also tell me the stats on what you would think a good weapon is? (A) Get them all nearly every kind of damage you have: kinetic, energy, stun, heat and acid to choose from. My personal choices are DX2 acid pistol, Modified Republic Blaster, Krayt Geosonic Pistol (regular Geo should be alot cheaper) FW5 (?) and Striker for those times Kinetic works best. Republic Blaster is light armor peircing and your most powerful (always examine your target to see what protection they have and use the weapon they have least protection of). Don't expect to be a PVP champ... Pistols are kinda weak for that sort of challenge.

(Q)3.I have some good comp armour, and I have plenty of brandy. Should I buy spices or different foods? What are the spices/foods mods?

(A) Spice is good in emergencies. Muon Gold (mind) and Pixi (healt/ action) are the best. BUT try to use food like Canapes or Vasarian Brandy before taking spice (downer effects of spice are bad) Also doctor buffs and entertainer buffs are nice to have.

(Q) 4.Should I bring a pet? I am dropping MCH soon, but I have a couple mereks that each are level 40 and have 10700 HAM all around.

(A) Up to you if you need a tank, might save your armor from wearing out fast.

(Q) 5.How should I migrate my stats as a pistoleer? ( If you could help on this one, tell me what you have and the numbers you think would be good for me.... I am also a human )

(A) Put it all into your mind, willpower and focus (?) everyone needs buffs to play no matter what. BUT... FYI your specials take from your action... I do hope all this changes after the combat balance that keeps getting pushed back (now sometime in 2005)

OK Jantas and Mokks are good for a lot of cash on top of your xp, but when you take into consideration the time needed to kill those guys at a low level, you're probably better off hunting something from a little lower mission payout. SO here are my suggestions:

1) Go to Dantooine, and try to find a player city that's also an improved job market. Get Huurton Huntress missions. When you get to the mission site, go to the lair and spam point blank area 1until all of the Huurtons are dead. You'll average about 30k xp per lair if you're grouped with a droid or pet in your case. These guys should be easy enough if you're doc buffed, brandied, and wearing a good suit of either ubese or composite armor with a high kinetic resistance.

2) Go up the techniques column first. Fan Shot is what will make the rest of your grind that much easier. After that, it's whatever suits your preference.

3) With Fan Shot in your repetoire now, do the same thing with the Huurton Huntress Missions, except stand back a bit and spam Fan Shot on the lair. The Huurtons will run back and forth from attacking you and healing the lair and you'll be able to slaughter them all in short order.

4) Get a great pistol for every type of damage. At first a good DX2 and a good FWGF pistol will get you through the Huurtons, but do like the previous poster suggested and snag everything you can so you have one for most every situation.

5) Stay away from overcharge shot at all costs.......unless you wanna buy a new pistol every few days.

6) If you really want to stick with pistols, go ahead and go up the pistol column in BH for the extra accuracy and speed as well as the extra specials. You also may want to consider going up the smuggler pistol column for Low Blow and Last Ditch. (Feign Death is also nice in a sticky situation) Now that will take up most of your skill points, so take that extra few and get novice commando. Doing all of that will give you all of the pistols and all of the pistol specials as well as every type of damage offered. And trust me.....seeing all of those specials while using a Launcher Pistol is so fricken awesome.

7) As far as stat migration. I went with high mind stats. This will allow you to suffice without entertainer buffs for the most part. As long as you have your doctor buffs and your brandy and canape, you'll be able to use your specials with little orno HAM cost.

8) Remember that as you increase in your skills, lean more toward high damage pistols rather than speed.

If you can afford the extra (minor) expenditure, Ranged Weapon Power-Ups are nice, too.

Just click and drag onto the weapon you want to power-up and it'll receive 100 shots of increased damage/range/whatever (depending upon the Power up Stats.) On a gun with pretty decent damage, you can power it up to very nice damage.

What planet would all you suggest? Is there any special that would help? Use healthshots all the way. Stick to Corellia/Tatooine/Naboo till pistols IV. Then get buffs, and go to Ft. Tusken. That's how I leveled pistoleer.

2.Could anybody out there also help me with picking a weapon? I have 300k or so. Could you also tell me the stats on what you would think a good weapon is? Get speed sliced weapons. A Dx2, and A Repbulic Blaster. Stats vary galaxy to galaxy, but average Dx2's have about 165 max dmg, and Repblics capping out average 206.

3.I have some good comp armour, and I have plenty of brandy. Should I buy spices or different foods? What are the spices/foods mods? Canape would help. Keep a muon in case your mind gets in trouble.

4.Should I bring a pet? I am dropping MCH soon, but I have a couple mereks that each are level 40 and have 10700 HAM all around. Would help, but with buffs, unless you get in huge trouble, they will be unneeded.

5.How should I migrate my stats as a pistoleer? ( If you could help on this one, tell me what you have and the numbers you think would be good for me.... I am also a human ) You could go the min to action and health and put everytthing you can into mind, and always fight buffed.

Thank you for all your replies, I appreciate it! I do have a couple DX2s there was a bug with one of the vendors I bought it off, so it bought me two more and I lost some cash But three of them were speed sliced and one dmg sliced. the speed slice took it to about either 1.6-1.9 with around 107-166 dmg. I have some powerups to help with speed and mind cost as well. I have three FWG5s, one dmg sliced other speed sliced. Spd slice was like 28% and dmg was 30% each have good dmg. PUPd they are better but I only have like 10 crates of the powerups

Keep the help and opinions going, they are really helpful, and thank you all who posted in response to my questions

A few other things to consider: We only have AP 1 and underguns as Pistoleers. Above it was mentioned that the repub blaster is AP 1. This is correct, but the DX2 and the SR Combat Pistol and the Geo are also AP 1 (and the D-10, but you don't get that until M. Pistoller and even then they are ahrd/expensive to obtain). Actually, the DX2 will be your best bet 95% percent of the time, as the other two are energyand a lot of things have high resistance to that DT (damage type). When you get money for a good Geo (they are around 300k on Naritus), snag that as itis also very useful (but annoying and loud in combat)Now unless you find some sort of uber looted SR Combat Pistol, you aregoing towant to stay away from thisgun. It's horrible. Not sure why it even exists really.... As someone mentioned above, at earlier levels, maybe some extra speed is good on your weps, but there is a Speed cap so in later levels start trying/hoping for those good damage slices.

As others have stated and I will reiterate, one (of the few) advantages Pistroleers have in combat is our wide variety of DT'savailable to us. As things stand now, we are only missing weps that do Electric, Cold, and Blastdamage (and, of course, Lightsaber. =)Note: You can get blast with the Launcer pistol but that's for commando's and since you only disucssed becoming a Pistoleer I'll keep it to that. AND I'mworking on a pistol that fires lightsaber bolts and has a speed of .2 ) We may get even more DT'swith these fabled future pistol upgrades that have appearedin the Pub10 .tre's. But who knows....

I also suggest maybe picking up some Bounty hunter Pistols and Smuggler Dirty fighitng to round out your template, but that is up to you.

In the Pistoleer Tree, claw up the 3rd tree and get Fan Shot ASAP. Get buffed, go to Dath and do Giant Biz Natch (or Baz Nitch...)missions. You'll be pulling around 4k Pistol exp and 400 combat xp per Biz and can get close to 16k (more if you are a Smuggler =) ) credits per mission.. That and they are prettydarn easy to kill for those rewards. Bring aGeo with you...

As for stats, go high on the recharge secondaries and focus on the mind pool stats.

Ok, thanks again! I was thinking of going pistoleer/armoursmith, so I don't think that leaves much for the bh and smuggling pistols and last-ditch. I am already pistols IV working my way to novice pistoleer, using some of the advice given to me here. I'm doing huurton missions right now, they are giving me 7-8k credits per lair, and around 1-3k xp per kill

By the way, I'm really enjoying these smileys

Keep 'em coming!!

Just to clarify, the Geonosian Sonic Blaster does not have armor piercing.

Fan Shot does hit multiple targets, 1 ofour 2 working specials. I believe the targets need to be in a ccertain area, or cone to be hit though.

I would like to throw a question in here. I just get into pistols the past two weeks. I have Pistoleer 0043 and BH 0044 (also MCH, which I foolishly don't want to part with). When fighting I typically spam the state specials from BH pistols (Bleeding, Eye, and Torso) until they all stick, and then spam stopping shot or fan shot until it drops.

Question 1: Does fan shot hit multiple targert? Haven't seen this work yet. And I thought I read that it only hits a single target multiple times.

Question 2: When I use the above specials, the condition on my weapons seems to go down dramatically fast. I'm not using overcharge shot at all, and I'm not using power-ups. What gives? I was Commando w/ flame 4 and the ol' flame throwers never lost condition like this. Is it a certain number of condition lost per time the weapon fires, regardless of the damage output of that weapon? If that's the case I'm going back to commando =) I'm gonna go broke buying pistols every week.

Thanks

Any help with question 2? What's with the condition on these pistols?
