Thread: A Case for DX2's
I guess then I don't understand the Speed issue then, I thought the greater the number, the better the speed?
If I am wrong, don't laugh at me!

IMO a master made scout blaster is actually superior to both dx2 and fwg. The dmg range is much smaller (mine is 59-120) and they are MUCH faster. (Sliced mine for speed and it's 1.4 now). Add the lower HAM cost on the scout blaster and it puts out mean dmg per second especially in longer fights where your HAM is going to matter.
((120+59)/2)/1.4 = 63.4 dps.
Lower the number, better the speed.
Scout= Good for low/no resist mobs. Try going to endor with your scout and watch those -50 hits on a 4-8k ham mob. hehe.
Hmmm...this discussion is a moot point for me since I'm on Starsider where the DEVs haven't given us the resources to make DX2s...![]()
Still waiting to hold one, see one, or view a picture...
It all comes down to resistance/armor.
I'll use my 126dmg 1.5spd Scout Blaster against mobs with poor 'energy' resists. My FWG5 is probably a bit better, but I trade off just so I don't wear down my weapons as fast.
I'll use my 178dmg 1.7spd FWG5 against mobs with poor 'heat' resists.
I'll use my 154dmg 2.1spd DX2 against mobs with poor 'acid' resists or high resists to heat or energy.
And then there's the 89dmg 3.0spd Tangle Pistol when all else fails. **edit** 3.0 is slow, and 89 is not packing much of a wollop, but not many things resist stun damage.
As for high end damage, I'm still climbing the Pistoleer tree so PointBlankShot2 is my current best special. I'm probably getting damage using that and the FWG5 from 190-784 per shot with the average being in the mid 400s.
There are two reasons I use my FWG5 over my scout blaster in PVP...
1.) It looks **edit** cool ![]()
2.)It does heat damage, and most armor has a vulnerability to heat (this means the target is treated as if they weren't wearing any armor for calculating damage)
The DX2 is pathetic compared to either of these two guns. There is no reason to use it over either of these two guns IMHO. I have done alot of tests, and its not worth it no matter how you look at it. the DX2 doesn't even have an armor rating of 1, its still a 0 armor rating.Even if it did have a 1 armor rating, the FWG5 would still be superior in PVP due to the fact that most armor is vuln against heat.
The DX2 needs a serious revamp.

Aha the DX2 pistol (with Acid damage) vs. the FWG5 (with Heat damage) , such a controversial issue....
As a novice pistoleer working up the tree, I use (primarily) a DX2 because I don't get involved in PvP combat too much. However, I disagree with the developers that a marksman level gun (in this case, the FWG5 and the heat damage it does on player's non-heat resistant armor)should take precedence over a pistoleer gun (the DX2 and it's acid damage that has 0 effect on a player's armor)in PvPor any other other situation, it's just not fair for those who sat down andearned the exp to wield the DX2.
My DX2 was made by Qyll'okk, a master weaponsmith onthe Wanderhome server, just south of Coronet on Corellia. The original specs were 3.0 speed, 72-125 damage, and the costs for health and mind were 23-24 and the Action cost was 43. I got it sliced to 87-135, and frequently (almost always) use powerups supplied by Qyll'okk that lower the action cost to the mid 30swhiel raising the max damage to 178.
I realize that there are many issues with many different guns in terms of certification (the ugly head that isthe whole BH/Commando thing) as well as overall stats, I also realize that many servers don't have the schematics worked out correctly for the DX2. However, I will hold to my own and try to make as best a case I can for this underappreciated gun.
I do not have a stopwatch or the time to sit down and punch out time specific numbers (like attack per second) which is why I would like for Jaegen88 to help me out with this next bit of info. I believe firmly in my own experiences that for now, at least outside of PvP, the DX2 is the most superior gun available to pistoleers. Here are three reasons why I have made this theory: 1) The speed is significantlyfaster than the FWG5 meaning more hits per second in battle, 2) The min damage is a lot higher than the FWG5, eliminating underkill and creating a higher damage per hit in battle, and 3) Because of reasons 1 and 2, this cuts out the issue of the high special move action costs because: you will spend just as much action on special moves with a FWG5 since it will take more time to kill your enemy (this is not to say that the total action cost spent will be more or less, but more of the same, or equal,instead).
Both of these guns aresomewhat ugly and don't look anywhere near as sharp as the Scout Blaster, so cosmetics can be a whiny-kind of issue for the dev's to take care of. I'm stoked about the Republic Blaster, it will be the best pistol available when it is finally debugged, it's compact and sleek in shape, and silver in color!
I understand that not everyone is like me, and that most do get involved with PvP a lot, so I would assume even after hearing this argument many would still prefer the FWG5. This is not neccesarily an unwise decision, but it is something that the developers need to change, by either adding to the type of damage the DX2 does or by (last resort) taking away the heat type of damage of the FWG5 (I'd much rather havethe DX2 better
. Let's face it folks, if the best weapon in the game for pistoleers to use is an FWG5, that means that someone who put in the 91,000 exp to get Pistol Specialist is getting the same out of his top weapon as the Pistoleer who has put in 211,000+ exp. Let's reward the patient and perserverant players, not chastise them. It's bad enough to other professions wield better pistols than us. However, I do believe in the end the dev's will give all pistol certs to master pistoleers. Thanks for your time, thistook longer than I thought it would.

FWG5= Looks like a colt .45 caliber gun with a barrel extender, much cooler than the dx2.
FWG5= 1.6-2.2 Sliced/nonsliced= Faster than a DX2.
FWG5= almost always hits in the higher end of it's damage range.
DX2= needs help.
