Thread: Comparing pistols
DPS....is overated!!! Think about it...every special has a damage multiplier. If a special has a damage multiplier of 2.0...would you rather have a weapon with a max damage of 1k+...or one with 800+?
Everyone hoots and hollars about DPS and I just shake my head. My best scatter has a base dps of 314...pretty low ya say huh? Well with a damage pup it reaches 654 min 1084 max damage. Now if your best pistol special has a damage multiplier of 2.0 (hypothetically) would you rather have a chance to hit for over 2k damage...or 1600? Not to mention the cooldowns of specials. To my knowledge...they dont change.
And dont get me started on the whole speed pup thing....yeah great, put a speed pup on a pistol and watch the dps skyrocket!!! Ya lose accuracy, and your max damage is still a measly 800.
Max damage is still the most important. SAC is second...unless ya wanna kill yourself with your own pistol specials.
Just my opinon ofcourse. But I would like anyone who thinks the opposite of me prove my points wrong.

If a base DPS of 314 is low, then every weapon on my server must be low quality.

If a pistol is to be considered good it must have these things imo.
1) Damage cap for that gun
2) Speed Cap
3) SAC < 100
Then you can use reinforced stocks for a SAC of <70.

What is the name for these reinforced stocks (or PuPs) that keep SAC down? So that I can look for them in the bazzar.
They are excatly that, "Reinforced Stocks".
Select Entire Galaxy and look under Misc and Factory Crates and then Reinforced Stocks. If there are none there do the same on the vendor listing tab.
The best ones I have found were -29% Action cost and -19 accuracy, 3k for a crate of 10. I beleive these were converted from pre-cu pups, the best my guild artisan has made so far are -25% Action cost and -19 accuracy.

Is there a list somewhere of the defferent dmg caps for the different weapons?
