Thread: Tuesday Tip and the ongoing Jedi/BH war

I am not a master pistoleer I have 0404 Pistoleer Master Smuggler and Master Commando.


I rely heavily on stopping shot for pve. commando damage and aoe is bugged and neither smuggler nor pistoleer are heavy damage dealers.


This battle on the tuesday tips will most likley end in concessions to the jedi fanboi's complaints about it being unfair for 5 bh to chain root a jedi.



Now it may be unfair to chain root someone but so is having a clas sthat is 5-10x stonger then any other paying customer. So in this game of unfairness I dont care if a jedi gets chain rooted. He should be more aware. Is it fair for the BH that jedi can cloak and force run away? NO.


Oh well I take no part in their battles I jsut though that several of us who use pistoleer as a way to survive in PVE are going to be hit hardest. BH and Jedi will find other ways to kill each other and other profs to nerf. As smuggler was hurt before.


Either way just though I would put this out in your forums.

Stopping shot isnt all that overpowered, concussion shot currently is... electrolyte drain from CM is a bit special as well.


Oh, getting shot with stopping shot while flying a swoop is very confusiong too.


Hahah, just reading through it and that Tueday tip has degenerated into a nice hot flame war... dont bring it in here though.


Blimey, maybe TH should have asked a Pistoleer or two about his Tuesday tip about Stopping Shot... anyone could have predicted that mess.

I didn't mean to attemp to drag the trolls in and drag the filth of flaming into the forum I just wanted to see what some minds who weren't busy taking potshots and insulting each other would say.



I'm just afraid the stopping shot which i use to control groups of mobs when too many aggro at once and I use to stop a charging creature in pve will be nerfed in pve as a result of changes to make it fair for the pvp/jedi/bh conflict.

you know whats funny is i was chain knockdown but npcs in lok the other night. I am lvl 80 andI was out riding around trying to do missions then i ran into these 2 lvl55 weak merc's(as they were called)that knocked me off the swoop and chain knockdown me for 10min. with me having full armor and a factory crate of stim d's i sat there trying to get up and up and up. After 10min of watching them hit me and running around doing the cheer anim. I was finally able to get up and kill them with ease. So i can kind of feel for the jedi if this is happening. Atleast they will have a quick death. Instead of 10min or longer of pure hell.

I've said it before, I will say it again. Jedi is a tough profession. Tough in this game means one thing. Time invested. It is possible to solo grind Jedi, it's just SLOW. Insanely slow. As well it should be. Jedi is a commitment, and players need to treat it as such. Jedi is a risk vs reward system. The first reward is getting your character to Padawan and getting a second character slot. There's no risk up to this point, just time invested. After that, the reward is faster XP gains through grouping, but the risk is player BH's coming to take the XP gains away.


Moving on to the actual issue. Stopping Shot doesn't need to be changed at all. It's FINE as is. (Concussion shot on the other hand, needs the nerf bat. 40 second root with a frickin' fast cooldown? I don't think so.)


The problem is multiple BH's per Jedi who can't have anyone help them. The simple solution for the BH/Jedi issue is to allow the Jedi's group to participate. On the BH side, either allow 8 BH's to take a Jedi bounty (the Jedi can have 7 others in his/her group, so 8 BH's is fair) or allow 1 BH to take the bounty and group with up to 7 others to go after the Jedi.


It's about time we had real posses going after these Renegade Jedi! It's also time that the Jedi's friends can help protect the Jedi from the posse. Just think how much fun it would be for a group of 8 master Bounty Hunters to go after a Jedi and end up finding a group of 8 Jedi. Completely against the Star Wars timeline (but the Jedi already@#(*@# are against it!), but it'd be total fun for both sides.


The best part is they won't have tomess with our specials that are working as intended!!!

Are you getting "You cannot use Knockdown Recovery while Knocked Down"? That seems to be a bug that happens if you get KD'd with a move queued.


It's kept me out of PvP since I got hit with it twice, very nasty.

All they have to do is add a 30 second grace period after a root clears. The old system had that with KD's, this one needs it as well.



And Badger, electrolyte drain is a bit more than "special". I went up against a 153K jedi last night (guessing MDef, though he could've been MEnh) and once I got the properrythm on stoping shot and electrolyte drain... He lived, 'cause after 15 minutes ofmepunding him with relative impunity (I had to use an instant stim once) he forceran, butif he'd stayed, he'd slowly but surely been withered into death without causing me any serious injury.


All because of electrolyte drain + stopping shot

I stuck drain on Tommy' and he just forceran right through it so I dont think they are too worried about movement speed debuffs. It's the Roots that make the jedi cry.

Well the Tuesday Tip has flamed to over nine pages in 1 day, whereas as the three previous Tuesday tips managed a couple of pages in their entire run.


I'm baffled as to why Thunderheart would pick Stopping shot as a Tuesday Tip. I find it hard to believe that the Developers could be that out of touch with what is going on in game.


I reckon just woke up one day and fancied trolling the game guide forum and inciting a BH/Jedi flamewar.

so the 5 BH's against 1 glow stick ain't a gank squad waiting to happen? Oh yeah, I forgot, the glow stick just gets their friends to take the mission so they usually won't see more than one real BH after them. Gank squads are part of MMORPG life. You travel alone as a PvP open player, you're asking to get ganked. Unlessthe BH missionscan be set for a 1v1 only opportunity (dunno the mechanics that would be fair to do that) it should be gankable both ways, not just the BH's on the glow sticks. Whatever the case, nerfing special moves isn't the answer to the issue (and fortunately, it looks like the devs possibly realize that given TH's comment that the issue extends beyond the use of one special move.)


I find nothing wrong with a root immunity timer after a root, in fact I suggesteditawhile back in one of Maxx's threads.A root timerdoes not affect my ability to solo in PvE, since Stopping Shot has a long cool down anyways. Nerfing Stopping Shot so it breaks on damage does affect my ability to solo in PvE. (As an aside, Concussion Shot lasts entirely too long to be a root like Stopping Shot. It should function like paralyze in the CM profession.)


Also, what's with the whining that a single pistoleer can perma root someone with quickdraw and stopping shot? There some bug I don't know about? My quickdraw doesn't magically remove my cooldowns on my other moves in my toolbar. If I quickdraw, stopping shot, spam quickdraw, I can't use stopping shot any faster than I could using any other special. Sounds like more overexaggerated whining by the glow stick fantatics. (they ain't Jedi. I haven't seen butone glow stick wielder in the game who even remotely acts like a Jedi.)
