before any gunfighter panties get in a bunch I wil clarify (= So I am shooting at speed cap and using pistol melee defense which I happen to love because does it get cooler than pistol whipping people? I don't think so. The problem is that I rarely get to see the animation of melee defense because the animation cannot keep up with the speed cap. Not to mention the sound effects and tracers don't match the damage being shot either. So I suggest increasing all prof speed caps equivilently(along with all creatures) so that all sound effects/animations/tracers match the actual speed. Is this seriously dumb or logical? Why not slow the whole thing down?

You are suggesting sacrificing game mechanics for the sake of aesthetics. My priorities are somewhat different to yours.

Lol you don't have to be condescending about it cool guy. Besides, as i posed it, my suggestion sacrifices nothing but merely changes it. The game mechanics are that some weapons/prof are slower than others and that will remain, so what is sacrificed?

Dumb. That's actually one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. 99.9% of people don't care if they see the stupid animation of Pistol Whip as long as the special works. I'm sure it's like that for all the other professions also. What we would be sacrificing is killing speed. This would make a lot of the mobs we hunt on a regular basis a lot harder and make the "hard" mobs near impossible. Not to mention how much it would screw a noob player. It would take them an hour to kill a freaking meatlump.

Hawaii this is the second post I am having to calrify for you. You have to fill in SOME of the blanks yourself. The creatures HAM can be lowered accordingly. The point is I said to change everything equivelently, so that nothing is sacrificed, only changed. This really wouldn't be very complicated, just lower all gun speeds in accordance to the DPS which is required now for killing the mobs. This is certainly not more important than fixing the specials, but there are dozens of posts about twirly moves and holsters so there is proof some people care. Also, I don't care if 99% don't care, ignore the post then, it is clearly marked.

Yeah... change alls speeds of professions, change all hams of creatures, then change their speed to so they don't tore you into pieces while you make your first hit... why not rewrite the entire code? And for what? For a animation of which you get tired after the 20th time you see it?

Lol I am sorry I brought this up. All those that read this and disagree you can save it, I got it. But they're already revamping the entire thing. Obviously you guys were satisfied with how the first pong game looked. Why do you play this game if all you care about is numbers, why don't you play freaking magic the gathering or something with no visual stimulus whatsoever? Why don't you just play chess? Things like this, although much less important than specials working, balance, etc, is what makes a game funner than checkers and dungeons and dragons.

It seems to me you never experienced a pen&paper AD&D game, sad thing, you really missed something. Not everything is about visual effects. You should give Horizons a try, the system is crap but it looks real good.

I tried D&D once and it has its place, but my point was that isn't what you're playing now. I've never played horizons but you're not playing that either even though it looks good, which means there is a balance and that balance falls in slightly different places for everyone,I have discovered from this thread. The goal of this gameis to allow one to be immersed in the realism of living in the galaxy, and I can't do that as well as I could,as long as there is no synchronicity between action, sounds, and lasers. If you were to ask the DEVs how important realsim and immersion is to their goal for the game, they would tell you, I think, that this subject is key. I thought everyone played this game to best imagine the life of an artisan, combatant, medic, or entertainer in a galaxy far, far away, but it seems some people simply play it like any other game as simple as the first shooter--to take other player's life points to zero and to hell with wether YOU are doing it or the pixels/code is doing it. Many, many MMORPGs and similar games have done that already though, and I think the DEvs of this game have a higher aim.

I find it very interesting that Hawaii flamed me about syncrhonicity and wrote the post he did in the 'pistoleers don't have a deathblow' thread. Evidently he loves to role play and imagine blasting someone, but he couldn't care less if the laser comes out after he shoots, or if the sound is never heard. Go play Doom or something if you don't care. BTW True Kieran I have nothing against you yet, just him.

I have nothing against you too, I don't even know you yet

For me the most interesting thing about this game is to RP, but to be honest Blaster sounds and animations is the slightest "RP problem" I have in combat. Last night I was on Dathomir, buffed. I've killed some nightsisters that day, no not with pistols, I used TKM, and came to a lair of real big creatures, forgot the name. Looking at the HAM and the resistances, I know I would have no problem to defeat such a creature. Now this thing was about as big as an AT AT, with jumping I wouldn't have even reached their knees, now how in a million years would you ever be able to "box" such a creature to death?? Combat in this game is about as unrealistic as it can get, at this point, I don't mind blaster sounds anymore.

You definately have a point there. The difference is that I thought changing some numbers in the code would be easy
with no sacrifices, unlike removing teras kasi from the game. I thought it was a rather simple solution to a simple problem.
