Sadly, this is the state of the game.
However, if you really love pistols and want to use them in pvp, the rogue-desperado-master pistols template is probably one of the best. Some people take out rogue and add some fencer for defense; some people swear by last ditch -- whatever your style is. If you're a tri-master, you'll find yourself just using all your TKM skills (at least that's been my experience).
IMO, if you want to be a TKM, just get in line and be a stacker. TKM + dabbling is better than TKM + mastering two borked professions, at least from an objective viewpoint (do you especially like pistols? That could change things.). Don't get my wrong -- I love pistols -- but if you're objective is to be a hardcore leetpvper, there are easier professions to do it in. It's certainly not impossible if your smart (you wont automatically get "OWNED" by everyone), but you have a serious disadvantage.
My opinion? Go with the pistols template. It wont be as powerful, but darnit, its fun. Until the CB, we'll just have to wait and watch pvp be dominated by DoT weapons,TKM stackers, and the odd Rifleman every once in awhile.
But unless you have some special attachment to your pistols (like I do
), look elsewhere. ![]()
Also, another point to raise about the Pistol-Template over Tri-Master: In good pvp (i.e. not attacking kids in starports) you're in a group, and in agoodgroup,there's a doc and theTKM meditating skills are redundant. Pvp isn't all about one-on-one super duels, ya know.
High offense, low defense templates are very effective with groups to support them -- just look at rifleman, lol.
So I guess the question really is: do you want to use pistols when you fight?

That's a funny statement. I know how to use pistols and dont need melee.
You have no medic (hello Last Ditch) and I have eyeshot. What will you shoot me with, Last Ditch? I have novice medic. Switch to TKM (+100vsKD thak *gulp*) and I will stun/intim your defenses away and hope you switch back to pistols to get Ranged Mitigation 3.
I'm M.Pistols, BH 0020, Smugg 0040, Medic 1000. I challenge any Triple Master on Intrepid.
