Thread: Stopping Shot at MASTER Pistoleer only!

Pistoleer lacks the range of carbineer & rifle. Our edge, do to our range, should be Stopping Shot at master level only! This will stop all the ranged FOTM players from raping our pistol tree. A true gunslinger of this profession is a Master.

I agree however, you have to look at the large picture, the CU was made for inter-profession stacking. as soon as you do this to one prof, others will want the same, and we will end up back at the begininng of SWG....

You know..your probably one of the few people who realizes that cross profession abilites is what's causing the imbalance.

A whole slew of abilites needs to be placed in higher level boxes to balance out combat.

Well if they are going to do that they should put Last Ditch in the Smuggler master box as well.

Afraid to tell you, but I went Master Rifleman/Pistoleer for the Ranged Intimidate, Disarm shot, warning shot, fan shot, and Stopping Shot. This is a profession that pure Ranged templaters want to master

Only BH's don't want to masterpistoleer because they rather steal my rifles damage dealing abilities

Your sig says anti-jedi, but you certainly sound like a jedi crying nerf. The last thing we need are things being moved to master or put to nerf'dom.

Mastering your profession should give you something more unique Dourne for reaching that goal. Why bother being a master if the title means nothing when others can use your skills at lower levels?

Pistoleers have Adv Stopping in Master, Improved at teir 3 and normal at teir 1, whats wrong with that?

The real problem is not the cross profession abilites, its that the abilities are kinda off at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if pistoleers and melee profs get some defence against movement drainers, and I expect rifleman wont. Disarm currently breaks on dam, and concussion shto doesn't. Just let them finish before you start crying nerf or else you'll find that the only ability non masters get is ranged shot.

I currently have Pistoleer xxx3.

What about us Riflemen? I am not a tank myself(even though I have good def. values) but as a rifleman, I ALWAYS get aggroed. I'm like an involuntary tank. It's high damage, slow speed, andI end up to be the one getting attacked.

Kneecap shot is one solution for this. So are a variety of other shots, but nothing, NOTHING can replace the 8 second root I used to get with stopping shot.

I just got Improved stopping shot yesterday and since I'm decorating my new home, I wasn't able to try it out. So I don't know how long that will take.

But I got owned several times by the smuggler roots in PvP. Also got intimidated by pikemen, etc. I, as a MRifleman, NEED stopping shot. I don't understand why people STILL cry about the combat not being balanced. It is FAR more balanced than pre-CU and I'm loving CU. I'm loving to PvP in CU and I shunned PvP pre-CU. It is very, very close to what Guild Wars has to offer in terms of PvP (GW has one of the best PvP systems ever created, and I can argue for years defending GW). Such low level special skills are there for a reason (mimicking Guild Wars again). This is what having a second/third profession means. And it's very balanced.

Yeah yeah so what if the system isn't *unique* and all that, it's Star Wars and it now has a much better working (and currently faster developing) PvP system, be it unique or not.

Now they say duelist stance has been fixed to give more protection, so I'll see what happens.

Stating a point and whining are two different things. I was doing the first!

If you worked at a shoe store selling shoes and where surrounded by other stores that didn't, business would be good. But then one day the other stores around you start selling shoes and everything goes to hell.

FOTM advanced skills should only be a MASTER level...period. I understand the fun of mixing and matching skills in the CU, I think its cool, but sometimes its balance remains in question.

But when all stores start selling shoes, there's competition, and shop owners start fiddling with minor details. Just like this system, when I can drop MMarksman and the carbineer column anytime to start going for other Pistoleer stuff as I think Pistoleer is an awesome profession.

Or I can consider dropping the same things and grind some FS slots (it's Phase 2 now so that's out of question for me), I can also drop pistoleer and mmarksman with carbineer tree completely and invest that to some brawler/smuggler, or brawler/commando (I forgot if commando needed MMarksman or not. never played as a commando so won't know).

I could also respec back to TKM (my original pre-CU profession instead of BH, yeah yeah I'm a respec BH so what?)

It's all about this little fiddling and detail. I haven't spent this much time calculating for defenses, speed, accuracy, what to use when, how, in what order, etc.ever in my SWG experience. Now it actually has meaning for me.

I agree, however, that there are some stuff that might really make it imbalanced. I don't know if the melee guys actually have a skill to recover from root or attribute values associated to protection against rooting, but that seems to be a must for many TKM as I could not take melee combat anymore as a TKM.

(I also removed the "stop whining" comment as it was a sudden burst of defensiveness towards the CU)

believe me stopping shot isn't all that great, it is too short of a root and takes too long to recharge. I was thinking they should add an Improved Stopping shot to the Master Box and make it somewhat close to the smuggler's Improved Concussion Shot in rooting effects. Or at least cut down the recharge time.
