I had a friend make me one tonight and it rocks. it's basically a DX2 with better damage and energy damage. I love it, I can't stop shooting stuff with it.

what skill level do you need for the republic blaster cert. I looked on the pistoleer tree and it is not there. I got one from the emporer while doing the theme park and it says I will have reduced damage when I use it because I do not have the skill?

if i look on my characer it says im certified, if i look on the gun menu it says im not, but it still works. i hit a creature for 2.5k with it (last ditch) so it definitely works. i think you have to have a post patch one made also.

I've never tried a scatter or launcher before, but of all the other pistols these are definitely the best now.

They are basically as good as DX2s on my server except they are energy based (not as good as acid), make cooler noises, and are more accurate.

How are the HAM costs compared to FWGs or DX2s ?

almost exactly the same as DX2 (plus or minus 1 or 2 points from an unbuffed person's "floatie")

I had my speakers up way to loud when i first shot this gun.

The interesting thing with this gun is that CURRENTLY (last night) it didn't seem to require ANY skills. I.e even without novice marksman people could use this gun. I.e a gun which seems to be in some ways as good as or better than the DX2 that is usable by any noob or non-combat player? Say WHAT?

I think you get a cert for a republic blaster right off the bat. Or perhaps it's when you join the rebellion. Either way create a guy and look at his certs. I think you should see a republic blaster.
