Thread: Anyone with insight or knowledge of future of Pistoleer

I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the "real" future of our skills etc. I am asking because I feel a little low on the food-chain with regard to my skills and especially when compared to the melee combat professions. They seem to do a lot more damage on hunts and quests (not to mention threads I have read with regard to competing for loot).

Will we be a force to be dealt with? After all Star Wars is supposed to be primarily ranged combat.

I know I am echoing what has been said a lot and in many threads?

No one can know for sure how things will turn out.

But it has been said that after the CU each profession will be needed. I take that to man that pistoleers will be needed to compete, either PvE or PvP. It may be our speed/mobility or our different damage types that make us appealing who knows. All I know is that after the CU I think it will be a very cool time to be a pistoleer.

I have heard rumors of us getting duel weild, not sure though.

Also I think we are going to get the biggest change, us and carbineer actually.

For starters, no one wants to nerf us, no one complains about the all uber pistoleers, and we also dont really complain, we sit here and wait patiently to become uber neo-gods.

Everyone else complains about everyone else, except us, and also they want to make ranged a primary, which means a lot of melee people will get nerfed, or thats how I read it all.

Therefore we will fly under the radar and become awesome

on the flip side since we dont complain they just forget all about us. That would suck, but I dont see that happening and I am a pessimist.

I don't think he or anyone else in the sandbox CAN tell you anything. It's like being in the JtL Beta, you sign a non-disclosure agreement.

I Think, no matter what our estimed correspondant do,that post-curb we, pistoleer, will still be low on damage. The devs already stated that pistoleer isn't supposed to be a "heavy damage dealing profession", and that statement gives me some worries. Yes. I do agree thata man with a pistol should do less damage than a man with a rifle on this game, or else there won't be any specific profession "feeling", but being always the short stick when it cames do damage dealing needs to be compensated some how.We have been a low damagedealing profession with some decent allaround defensesforthe last 20 months orso, and we all know where and what that leaves us- Our defenses aren't enough to make any diferenceor even compensate our low damage output.

Amd I'm still waiting to see the devs state something like "you are supposed to be..." or "when it comes to combat your profession has the role of...." with a accurate description. I'm not expecting to get any information on the CURB inner mechanics or any data on new skills skills. I Just want to know whatmy role issupposed to be in the combat field. And until this moment, I have got nothing ...

I can say as one of the sandbox team that there is a reason so little info has come out. The changes are so sweeping, that to simply make a statement like " Pistoleers are the new baloon animal crafters, their role will be to craft baloon animals" raises more questions than it answers. " Baloon animals? what do they do?" " Who else uses them?" etc, etc.

I have seen statements like " Your role is..." and " your primary abilities are..." from the devs and it looks good so far.

NDA in full effect, but trust me anything we can share we will. Maxx is on top of it.

Keep in mind that being the best damage dealer isn't always the same as being "viable."

Pistoleers represented in movies and the like are innovators, masters of unconventional -- even dirty -- combative techniques. They're often a mixture of close-range firearms and hand-to-hand combat. Theymove quickly, are hard to hit, and keep their opponents offguard.

I'm more than happy not being the best damage dealer, as long as that low DPS is balanced by better defenses, and more tools at my disposal (ie. delay shots, KDs, a change to accuracy so that Riflemen really can't hit things at close range). Tactical options is what I'm looking for, not defense stacking, and not a high DPS.

I want being a Pistoleer to involve thinking, strategy, not spamming the same special while he spams his and hope that my buffs are better than his.
