Thread: An idea for Pistol Melee Defense 1 and 2:

In a way it sounds like a nerf, however, the only nerf would be changing the knockdown effect of pistol melee defense 1 to a posture change, and havingit move up to pistol defense2. Then, change pistol melee defense 1 to a dizzy state effect. Catch is both still have to be in melee range.
We all know that Pistoleer is basically a range version of a fencer (since they both focus on health as their main form of attack, and actually have close to the same defenses). Since fencers get a dizzy/lunge form, one would think, why not a pistoleer get something equavelent such as this. I know that there's still some other things that should be fixed, but I thought this would balance pistoleers out some.
Pistol melee defense 1 since it has the animation where they literally look like they hit their opponent in the head, why not give it a dizzy state effect. Then pistol melee defense 2 would be a stronger form, to the point where it can literally force them to kneel down. These 2 would compliment nicely with each other where it can actually make a pistoleer a nice pvp adversary.
Anyways just a thought that came across my mind, and would be easy to implement. While it would remove the knockdown effect, I think the posture change version is just as powerful when it's accompanied by the dizzy state effect. Anyways, just an idea. ^_^
Wonder if anyone else though of this, I bet they have heh.

Just so that I understand, you want pistol melee defense 1 and 2 to have a dizzy effect but for one you just want it with a posture change and two you want it with the knock down?

Posture Down + Dizzy in one attack might be too overpowered for the Devs Liking. Dizzy + Knockdown in one attack definetly would be.

No, remove knockdown all together, give pistol melee defense 1 just the dizzy effect, then for melee defense 2, just give it a posture change. Then you combine those 2 (using dizzy first with pistol melee defense 1, then the posture change with pistol melee defense 2) and you got a nice combo, the catch is it's just melee.
Also to the other poster, the knockdown + dizzy would be pretty powerful. That's why I thought why not make it a posture change instead of dizzy, that way there's still a chance that a person in posture change can still have a chance to stand up, but the high probability is low.
EDIT: BTW because pistoleers would get this combo, and it's suppose to be a melee attack, they would be a nice contender vs jedi's. I could see BH starting to master pistoleer just for this (to get the speed modifiers along with pistol anyways).

how about melee 1 be a stun/posture change and 2 be a dizzy/kd ..
since they'd be our only 'state' inducing attacks.. and they're not ranged.. why not make them a little more powerful.

Personally, I think if they just added a dizzy affect to PMD2 we would be fine. I like the knockdown on 1, but wouldnt want a Dizzy+Knockdown attack. The reason being that if the dizzy doesnt stick and the knockdown does, you can just use the dizzy special a few more times. If they are combined, a second use of the special would cause your target to recover from the knockdown (stupid bug) and you wouldnt be able to stick them on the ground for any length of time. Not overpowered, but extremely useful in my opinion.

I would be very annoyed if they made PMD2 a posture change attack for two reasons: 1. If I'm going to posture down, I'll just use SuppressionFire, and 2. If I take a gun and crack you in the face with it you're going to fall down on your back not kneel like it's no big deal.

random thought from a pistoleer turned tk just to be able to use mindheal effectively 8/
PMD1 = knockdown..
PMD2 = knockdown/knockback 8)
that's right.. knock them down and back away from you 10 - 15 meters 8)
then you get a chance to shoot them twice while they're lunging their way toward you.. or just up and run kiting as long as needed till their dead.. (or they pull out the legendary t-21 and incap you in 1 shot due to mindshot3)

as soon as i can figure out a way to keep mindheal effective.. i'll be picking up a gun again.. still have my 'old set' somewhere

i would really like some form of knockback attack, but it would probably be more suited for pikeman/rifleman
also i would like pmd2 to have a knockdown/stun and leave pmd1 the way it is
the reason for the numbered specials is to start using the highest numbered one when you get it and scrap the older one..... make pmd2 BETTER, not so we would have to use them both to get a good effect
also tk's have a dizzy/knockdown so why the hell would us getting one be too powerful?

Well thing is with supression fire 1, that ends up costing 14 skill points to get, and it's optional (great with rifleman btw ^_^ ).
I guess knockdown would work, but knockdown is so easy to resist with people who's prepared that posture change would actually be better imo (since it doesn't have a higher resist unlike knockdown).
