Hey everybody. Heres my question: Which is more powerful, your fanshot/stopping shot or the last ditch? First let me address something. It seems many hold the Fanshot to be the most powerful pistoleer sp. In guide to grinding pistoleer at the top of every page it says ur first priority should be getting fanshot. Well no matter how many people agree with that, fanshot simply doesnt do as much damage as stopping shot for me. So the real question for me is between stopping shot and last ditch. And if last ditch IS better, is it THAT much better to have to get the whole line in smuggler(and for that matter all the nonsense skills u have to learn jus tto get novice smuggler like buisiness and such)?
One final quesiton. Can somone explain to me exactly what feign death is, does, and how useful it is? The situations you use it in and how its that helpful? Thanks,

OK, I'm not sure about that whole vs. thing. I, too, have noticed that stopping shot is far better than fan shot, which is odd, since everyone was telling me how great fan shot was![]()
As for smuggler, that has been changed. You only need to get the Unarmed tree in brawler, and the pistols line in marksman, plus whatever amount of pistol xp you need for Novice Smuggler (I think it's 40k, but I could be wrong).
Select the type of gun.
Plug in its stats and calculate
- /healthShot2 - best single-pool attack
- /stoppingShot - best DPS, random damage pool; in some cases with slower weapons, replace with /doubleTap
- /fanShot - best DPS + AOE (cone) attack, random damage pool
- /pistolMeleeDefense1 - melee knockdown, random damage pool
If you also have smuggler, it changes slightly:
- /healthShot2 - best single-pool attack
- /lastDitch - best DPS, random damage pool; in some cases with slower weapons, replace with /doubleTap
- /fanShot - best DPS + AOE (cone) attack, random damage pool
- /lowBlow - ranged knockdown, random damage pool; substitute with /pistolMeleeDefense1 (melee knockdown, random damage pool) if you like a different animation
I've toyed with /pointBlankArea1 but found it is rarely worth it, unless I want to kill a swarm of durnis around me in one take.
getting back to the point...most people say speed is an issue with this attack but it really isnt. with a mediocre speed pistol (say 3.0 or lower) you will have no problem reaching cap so long as your skill mods are capped. It is definately worth the additional SP for that extra couple hundo dmg.

That is your answer, most of the guides are only considering you are grinding your way up Pistoleer (no that you are already a Desperado). That is where Fanshot exels. Since you are speed capped Desperado/Pistoleer yes Stopping shot is much better DPS, but if you choose to do Pistoleer first the Fanshot has a lower delay, allowing you to fire it faster than Stopping shot, making it a better grinding shot. I am not even metioning the Cone AOE.
If you are just a Pistoleer, the Fanshot is the best special highest DPS, but once you add in the Speed from BH or Specials from Smuggler that changes dramatically.
