Hey everyone. I've seen alot speculations about "duel wield" and was just wondering if i could get any confirmation. I saw a thread with many, many, many, many, many, many posts about this as a petition... Just wonderin' if the correspondant or anyone could help me out.
Oh, btw, even if you don't know for sure...post what you think about it here too

duel weild will be given to pistoleers and fencers sometime following the release of jump to lightspeed.

The problem I see with this strategy is that dual wielding should be part of the combat balance, doing it afterwards is likely to lead to one of two situations:-
1. They take into account the fact that we're getting dual wielding at a later date, and we come out of the combat balance massively underpowered. (Since we're only using half of our firepower.)
or
2. They balance us with the rest of the classes, and when we get dual wielding we end up being massively overpowered and become the next FotM class and have to be nerfed into oblivion.
Neither of these situations is ideal, they'll have to rebalance pistoleer and fencer when they add dual wield, leading to potential nerfing for those who choose not to dual wield (or are forced not to if they place the certs at master, another good reason not to make dual wield a master only skill).

well, the ability to fight with two weapons at once can be balanced against itself. It doesnt neccesarily make you a bigger threat, as much as it makes you a different threat.

well the major question i would have for this is, fine yes so we get to use 2 weapons simutaniously, good. but is it going to be double th damage or just 2 different kinds of damage, like wielding acid and energy type dam weapons at the sametime. i personally would like them to just average the damage of the 2 guns while adding the 2 types of damage.....i personally dont think having double the damage right now would be a fair idea, tho it would certainly be very kool me being a pistoleer and all
but for example if i had 2 500+ scatters that would make me wielding a 1k+ dam weapon, which by far surpass riflemans today.....tho i know about the revamp so we shall see what they do with it, im very curious.........and thats me ranting on.....
thanks for playing

I am not sure how this duel wield is gonna work out, but i just really want to use two de-10's at once, kind of a throwback salute to our western heros

WhatI think will happen is the farther you progress up the tree the faster your offhand weapon becomes, Like that hasnt been said beforeI know. Even if we get 1 offhand attack for every 2 main weapon attacks at master would be awesome, Iwouldnt think 1 for 1 would be fair maybe you could toggle a 1/1 attack at a very drastic reduction in accuracy but at a 2/1 you keep your accuracy and speed cap for main weapon and just a slight reduction in acuracy and speed. I also think specials should be very limited with an offhand weapon no last ditch, eye shot and any other well aimed targeted pool shot. Fan shot would be usable as i could see it easier effecting more targets with 2 blasters.
Ialso would like to add Shoulder slings for rifles, Arm slings for carbines and Hip/leg holsters or underarm holsters for pistoliers.I always think people running around weilding their weapons looks like afganastan. Throw in sheaths for swords and axes have back sheaths.
Whatcha think?I like feedback good or bad.

Though duel wield sounds really cool, i have to agree with another of the posts in that the implementation scares me. If it is the great thing we would like it to be, everyone and their momma is gonna go pistoleer. Just like tkm. I was a tkm for a long time, then they were everywhere, everyone one I saw had VK's in their hand. I got tired of being like everyone else and went back to pistoleer, my first elite profession.
OK to the guy who said something about 500 damage scatter?? OMG i have one thats 225 and thats the highest I have ever seen. Do they go that high??? geez what am i doing wrong? heheh

dual weild would be easy...
make it a certain weapon that can only be double weild a new type of gun/guns stats would just be like speed 2.3 damage 120-234 but that would be for both guns and not each gun.... the only thing that would be different would be the animation.... just like gloves its only 1 item but has 2gloves... u would just see 2 lots of gun fire and animation..
therefore they could balance the weapons with the rest of the game...

Sorry xPredatorx, but that would make duel wield IMO not nessesary as one of the main reasons for it would be the possibility of dealing two different damage types at once.

My thoughts exactly. Until then im stacking my chips to buy 2 DE-10's and either a Mando (wishful thinking) or RIS helmet.
