Thread: What is your pistol of choice?

Just wondering what everyone's favourite pistol was. I'm fairly new and am looking to buy a weapon (won't be used for grinding I can assure you! lol) that'll i'll use for those ultra tough opponents or creatures and wondered what weapons different people swear by. I'm currently using a republic pistol which is good but not sure if I'm missing out on an even better pistol!!

Also I know its kind of a weaponsmith question but I thought you guys might know....what are all the weapons extras I see on the bazaar. I mean what kind of effects do they have and which am I best off getting added to my weapon of choice by a weaponsmith?

Cheers!

The beauty of being a pistoleer is that you have so many to choose from. Dig through the threads here in the forum and you will find a plethora of similar topics. You will probably not use one pistol for all battles, as mobs are allergic to different things. Case in point, I went Krayt Dragon hunting last night. It would have been kind of pointless to try to use my favorite FWG5 since it is a heat-based weapon. I did quite well with a Scout Blaster and DX-2 against them. Some of my double-tap shots were upwards of 1400 dmg. Best advice is to pick one for roleplaying in town and then match your pistol to your enemy's weakness.

My 2 cr worth of advice.

FWG5 is without a doubt my pistol of choice.

lol. Thank you!!! I will give this a read now. I ahve gathered that there is no 1 ultimate weapon but was just trying to get a feal for what the very high specs are as I hope i have enoguh credits to purchase at least 1 or maybe even 2. I hear terms re Krayt Dragon stuff being mentioned but ti means nothing to me and I have no idea as to the effects they have on the weapon during the manufacture process. Also have no idea just what the best add ons are that I see ont he bizarre. Anyway thanks and I'll post back on here if I have any questions that AREN'T covered in a sticky...... ;-)

That was a very helpful guide. I guess what I was asking was information that would maybe not be suityable for a newbie. I wanted to understand what people were on about when they mention the different materials used to make the high spec weapons and also so I could know for myself when it came to my turn to ask a weaponsmith to make me a weapon!! Don't want to get rippe doff and also don't want to e going around with a crap weapon when there are far better out there but i just don't know anything about them!!

Hope that explains my motives and what I was looking for. May I suggest a guide for those looking to understand the more complex principles behind the pistols as a 2nd chapter and leading on from where you left off? Maybe in conjunction with a Weaponsmith(As I'm sure they get annoyed with being asked what the best pistol is!!)? Sorry, this is not meant ot sound ungrateful but just a thought....anyway thank you once again for being so helpful....

Cheers!

Here is a post that explains Krayt tissues, power handlers, Gorax shards, and all those cool enhancements that can be used when crafting a weapon. Hope it helps.

My pre-nerf Krayt FWG-5, which I traded for a Kaadu when Mounts came out.

DE-10 hands down most effective and best looking pistol in the game.

FWG5 for looks, Scatter Pistol for use (nice allround pistol if properly krayted and sliced).

Depends on what I'm doing...

If I'm role playing I'd use my DL44, I'm somewhat of a World War 2 buff and love the old Mauser Pistol. Just had this look to it that screamed a Sci-Fi looking gun. Along with that there's also a Scout Blaster I own, or my rp 'big' guns a FWG5 and SR Combat with a lovely barrel and scope.

In PvP I'll used a hairdryer of doom errr I mean Scatter Pistol or a DE-10 or my Geo.

Tell the truth after seeing some of the Pistols that will be out in the CU I think I'm going to have to go with a Deathhammer. Much like the DL44 it looks based on the old German Luger sidearm with a few more bells and trimmings.
