I'm close to having fan shot if I want it. Can someone tell me about what it does?

Read the rough draft FAQ sticky, the first post has damage, delay, and action cost. I have the new version of it ready...will post very soon.

anyone know how to get fan shot to work? I fire it into mobs of creatures, and it usually only seems to hit 1 or 2 of them. how many is it supposed to hit? do they have to be in a line? whats the spread?

Ibab's Mining Co. is just a little south of Coronet (-112 -5585)

Ibab's Food, Drink + Buff (-112 -5585 coronet)- now stocking 100's of buff kits and 100's of crates of food and drink, tools

You have it backwards, fanshot hits multiple targets. Double tap(or whatever its called, does anyone use this?) hits multiple times on one target.

From my understanding, it is supposed to hit one target multiple times. For me, it does not work all the time. However, it is nice when it works.

It's a cone effect, so yes, they have to be "in a line". Actually two or three tightly packed together will get hit. Watch for non-agro mobs BEHIND your target! Frequently, you will unintentionally hit them as well. I've been deathblowed by lowly Imp troopers, because I accidently pissed off a herd of Sludge Panthers, who incap'd me.

ACTUALLY

fanshot is supposed to hit a single target multiple times

double tap hits a single target twice

multi target pistol shot is supposed to hit...wonder of wonders..myltiple targets!

as it stands, fan shot does the job of multi target, and the multi target pistol shot is broken

When I use Fan shot It usually hits multiple targets within a very small cone.....usually when I use it at a long distance (LIKe 60 meters) I can hit a whole mob and do pretty good damage on all of them. I find the best time to use fan shot is when mobs are stationary or fighting someone else and you can get them all in the cone area while at your ideal range. This way you can just about take out the whole mob with multiple fan shots. Also, I 've noticed that it tends to miss as much as regular shots do....sometimes i'll hit all the targerts, sometimes only 2, sometimes only 1. Since the patch it's been a little harder to use because mobs start to attack differently now. When they get close they will flank you in effect keeping them all from being in the cone....so using fan shot in close is not very effective.

To add to Jessallyn about double tap....it is suppose to hit a target twice in the same general area. Usually when you fire 2 separate shots....one can hit the chest and the other can hit the arm.....double tap is suppose to focus 2 shots in the same area, effectivly hitting a target 2 times in the chest or 2 times in the arm.....and so on.

I use Fanshot, Double tap and Stopping shot all the time.....I like using Fanshot in hunting groups on Dantooine....you can rack up XP really fast.

I live by Stopping shot though with a combination of double tap and body shots in-between.

Personally I find it better using fanshot alone, does lower damage than stopping but I can fire it faster, and it does better damage than double tap.

However as noted its an area effect special... so I am rather careful about it.. and yes it does rock when hunting in groups and there is a large mob of enemies

What she said.

Also, what someone else said too. Watch it when you use it, you'll accidentally hit things behind them. I like to let all the creatures agg around my pet, (which I usually do by siccing my pet on the lair,) and then open up with /fan. I hit all the creatures and the lair, which causes most of them to start healing the lair, easing up the damage on my pet, and it of course spawns more creatures, so it creates its own cycle, as it were. Works fabulously with huurtons and such on Dant.

FOr instance: Do NOT use fan shot against Krayts. Hitting the lair behind him is BAD to do; especially with how mean they made the new krayts. It's great against Dune Stalkers or something you can kill pretty easy. 5 shots, you kill 3 baddies. Not a bad deal.
