I just got stopping shot today. It doesnt seem so good. It has a long recharge rate, hits random HAM, and doesnt do very high damage. Yea it can hit for 1500-1700 ocassionally but sometimes i get hits as low as 500. Im using a 61-259 2.0 speed FWG5. Im only 0-0-3-1 currently. Will this special get better once i finish the pistol speed line and is fanshot better?

It's also handy to use just after you Pistol Whip, since knocked down opponents suffer additional damage (50%, I believe?).

So Pistol Whip, Stopping Shot...you can do some serious damage.

It's also good for when you've whittled that opponent down to Half Action/Half Health, and are tired of equally hammering away at both of those HAMs with Double Tap.

I.e. Stopping Shot can be a good closing attack. Double Tap, however, will be your mainstay until you get mastery or a super-super fast weapon.

You just hit SS box so you're possibly ONLY 0030. Do you really expect to be very powerfull with only 45 skill points used ?

The speed is surely the most important thing for a pistoleer right now.

PVE...

Try this for the first 2/3 of the bar: Healthshot1 (bleed), Healthshot2 (stacked bleed), Body Shot 2 (to decrease their health bar). Then, after 2/3 of it is gone, start with the Stopping Shots. You should only have to fire 2-4 of them before the creature is dead.

This saves you time, and takes full advantage of the random HAM and high damage of SS.

They should change the name to "Finishing Shot" for this reason.

Yes, against weaker creatures, stopping shot can be a great finishing shot.

Against crazy strong stuff, it doesn't really matter anymore, since they have 15k HAM

the problem is your random-ass gun. Get a more consistant dmg gun like a sr or dx2 (people hate on dx2's). problem is that if you have none of the combat xp slots filled, these guns will fire too slow.

Iam 0 0 3 2 in pistoleer, and i don't use SS unless it is for creature that i can kill in on shot, or as a finishing move.

It seems that it is only useful with the speed bonus of Master, or BH.

Even at master ( pistoleer only speed mods) I can only fire stoppingshot every 2 seconds with my 1.6 speed gun, I only hit 1 second fire rate with a speed 1.0 gun.

Why are the masters so fond of stop? I use BS3 at master and with a good gun you can punch big holes in someones health bar. Not as many points of damage/hit but it's all coming off the same pool. If buddy starts stimming or using eyeshot then I switch to stop and pray for mind/action hits.

The braintrust has decided that, at the speed cap, BS3 is slightly more efficient than Stopping shot at wearing down the health pool

Against weaker mobs, a few lucky stopping shots can drop something super quick though.

For pvp, accidentally whacking people on the action or mind pools (especially mind) is often far more useful.

Pistoleer, the anti-dabbler.
