Thread: Duel pistol wielding solved (in my opinion)
1. If you are using 2 pistols, the speed would obviously have some kindof increase.
2. If you are using 2 pistols, the HAM would most likely DOUBLE, or maybe a little less than double.
3. If you are using 2 pistols, then they would have to be the SAME pistols; It would just be dumb to have a DL44 in one handand a Scout blaster in the other hand. for example.
4. Should have to achieve master pistoleer before this is usable.
My opinions on how these obvious things would work out:
1. Speed- I think that the speed should be anywhere between 25-50%. I think that sounds reasonable.
2. HAM- Like I said above, I think that double pistols deserves double HAM bar costs.
3. Same pistols- Pretty self-explainatory.
4. Maybe have the twirling pistol thing as an added bonus too.
Miscellaneous:
1. Holster would be sweet.
2. Twirling would be cool.
Thanks guys for reading/listening to this. Please state your opinion, as this might help the correspondant and/or the Dev's.
Two things:
Dual Pistols should definitely be Pistoleer-only. For the Bounty Hunters out there, obviously Jango was a Pistoleer-Bounty hunter, since I don't recall any other BH, Fett or not, using 2 pistols.
For the people saying the animations would be prohibitive, you do realize that SWG uses skeletal frame animation, right? All humanoids basically move the same in SWG, even with different skins. All it would need would be 1 generic load of a dual pistol animation (for fighting only, you wouldn't need it for running) and all races would use it.

The Beta Testers brought this up during Beta 2 and the response was basically that they didn't have the time or resources to do something like this, since it would require a MoCap session, programming, and even more balancing past what they are durrently doing. Literally a few months of work.
This can be a 'Down the Road' idea but for now, you're beating a dead eopie.
beating dead eeopies is one of my personal favorite pastimes...
whats wrong with it?
I would say its not the most important thing to worry about right now, though I agree if we ever see it that it should be a pistoleer technique only (maybe for mastery in one of the four collumns). Pistoleer seems a little lacking and I am begining to wonder why I have spent so much time training towards it.
I disagree completely that it makes no sense to have two different guns, obviously you've never seen a John Woo movie.
I think both guns should function normally, but you should get a penalty to accuracy.
My two credits.
SOE wont have the time to be doing things like that because they are busy trying to finish the game.
Ya know they think they could put something in here that would add too diversity amongst the different classes, nah they dont give a crap.
First of all, I agree, the primary thing the programmers should be working on is getting the game running smoothly. Once they get the bugs worked out (which I’m sure will only last until the next major update, but still), then they can work on specializing the classes more, making each more unique.
This is what I think, as compared to the post above:
1. Speed increase could easily be handed with a reflection of the pistols not firing simultaneously, but about halfway through the speed of the readying of the other. Now, I understand this is what everyone means, just clarifying it.
So, say you have two pistols, each with a speed of 3. The first would fire, then the second approx. 1.5 later, then the first when it’s time was up. All relative to the adjust speed due to Pistol Speed. Of course.
2. Accuracy decrease. Perhaps the accuracy of both weapons is .75 to .50 of the normal.
For that fact, they have a Moving and Standing accuracy bonus, perhaps they could add another category, making it ‘Dual Accuracy’ or something along those lines, perhaps with a progression of half the normal pistol accuracy bonuses gained? Add that to the base bonuses gained through the pistol branch of the Marksman tree…and you’re still fairly accurate, but not uberly so.
3. Full HAM bar for the use of both pistols, perhaps even a 1.5 multiplier to the HAM usage of each. It makes it costly, but not impossible, though the 2x is definitely possible. This leads to what I’d like to see…
4. Ability to fire multiple types of attacks, one for each. Now this one, I’m not certain is possible. But I wouldn’t mind being able to fire a Health Shot with one pistol, and a Warning Shot with the other pistol.
On second thought, for things like this, maybe the special HAM bar cost should be much higher when using both…heh. This might be asking for too much…but I still think it would be damned cool.
5. I think the ability to use two different pistols would be spectacular. If you have two weapons that work with different types of attack (say stun, fire, etc), you could use both types. Cosmetic more than anything, but still…
I think holsters would kick ass. I used to play Planetside (no time now that I’m constantly on Galaxies!), and on there, you could see the other avatars carrying weapons, at least some of the time (been awhile). I wouldn’t mind seeing my pistols at my sides, and my rifle slung over my shoulder, or a sword at the hip of my buddies.
Flourishes would also be wonderful. Now, I can’t speak much for the way the programming of such things happens, but hell, I don’t have to worry about that, I just play the game!
(Just kidding…)
Seriously, even if it was just as pin thing to show off, just something quirky to throw in to appease our gunslinging, Space Western imaginations…
Thanks for listening!

If there truly is a speed cap of 1.0, then being an MP, you would see no speed benefit in wielding 2 pistols with a speed bonus. Unless the pistols were godawful slow to begin with.
Not necessarily making the guns themselves any better, but increasing the overall DPS potential, due to firing two weapons within the same timeframe.
You are right...the difference between having your first gun fire, then having your second gun firing a .5 second later, then having your first gun fire again when it's full 1 is up wouldn't change it much.
Would make them seem like they're shooting at the same time, or at least **edit** near...

Jango is proly the only BH at that time that realized that he can use his remaining skill points to take some of the pistoleer tree to maximize his pistol abilities 8} Oh and in episode 1 he got killed by that Jedi because he didnt take the Marksmanship tree for Pistol Accuracy While Moving Backwards
Jokes asside, I vote for Pistoleer-only dual wield.
