Topic explains it all really, what do you think if rifleman could not shoot any closer then 10-15m?

i agree

no way somebody should be able to hit you with a t21 that close in .

riflemen just need a good nerf _ SOON_

they have too many advantages

They dont hit too well from close range anyway... a bit of supression reels em in.

im not a master rifleman and just bought my t21, so i cant really speak out of experience, but i have a -70 mod on 0m no hit while running bonus and a speed of 7.7 on the weapon.

a hit of my rifle may hurt bad, but youshoot atme in the same time upto 8 times, and you have a far better chance to hit me in close-quarter combat...

Erm.. we actually shoot at the same speed due to speed modifiers while having 65 less accuracy overall and most pistols having at least a -80 range modifier at 48/64m - frankly, I like the idea. It would need some balance, but I like it.

it is hard to balance rifleman vs pistoleer as pistoleers can add skills and speed and such just by taking another profession that stacks pistol skills. Rifles do not stack with anything. If you want to balance rifle - either nerf us and give us skills sets that stack with it to bring us back or nerf us and don't allow pistols to stack with other professions - you can not do a straight 1 for 1 comparison due to that fact.

the best question here is who isn't a pistoleer/smuggler or pistoleer BH? your professions is by far the most versitile and stackable...

I say giverifleman a min range as well... by adding a -150 to all rifle weapons at 0m thentheywould hit much less often (pretty much that would solve your range problems with rifleman)

i personallty think that pistoleers should not cry nerf though - i think you should get your specials working again and ask that the geo pistol schematic be dropped more often and that is it ap 1

plus the big solution to all balance problems is not more speed or damage or ap...

it is a change to the buff system and the armor system. If buffs could only double the base stat and there were multiple armors that are viable but each is only perfectly resistant against four of the major damage types. like this

type heat cold acid energy kinetic stun restraint electricity

composite xO x x x o o x

ubese xx 0 x x x oo

Tantel 0X x 0 x x0 x

mandol x x 0 x 0 x x x

Ris0 x x x x0 0 x

shield gen 30% 30% 30% 30% 30% 30% 15% 30% (or greater for all)

each x should equal a rating that is possible at 80% or higher (with slices)

this would give each armor type a weakness and a strength that another type does not have. - it would also allow every profession to shine again

also ,,,, make factional armor work up to at least 60-65% then people might even use it! ^-^ (and yes give neutrals the ability to factionalize with jabba or valarian or some such group and give them armor as well...)

OOOPS FORGOT PADDED AND BLAST oh well you all get the idea... make stuff have damage holes and damage resistances - then each profession gets weapons that do damage specific to their profession and that can cut through some armor types like butter and others like granite.

Pistoleers can only improve speed and accuracy by taking up BH (which is a shedloads of skillpoints, I don't see anything about variability here). And there are many many Master Gunfighters out there that aren't Smugglers or BHs. You could make the same argument about Riflemen/CM templates - they complement each other almost perfectly. I agree about the buff/armour issue tho.

And yes, Master Pistoleers and Master Riflemen both hit the speed cap.

Thank you for your insightful comment, althoughI'd like to remind you that Pistoleers don't have any status effect specials besides PMD1, which is a KD.
