Let me clarify, he didnt say we wouldnt get anymore fixes, he just thinks we are the best of the ranged classes. So that implies to me that we will be a lower priority

I think he must of played with the marksman tree / a couple of boxes in.

I don't think he meant classes. He's clearly talking of weapons. BH, Smuggler, Pistoleer, Marksman, and Commando all use pistols.

I might agree with you except that he lists melee as the number one cool class even though the question asked was about ranges .....

Without being completelyrude to the man... I don't like his opinions, I don't like his way of dealing with the players and I think that he does more harm than good for the game (TH that is.)

Here is my take on this, guys. I read Thunderheart's post about this yesterday.

Thunderheart doesn't play the game as much as we do. He's a Novice Brawler who is just starting to work his way through the Marksman tree so he can get Commando. So he's comparing Pistols 3 to Carbines 3 to Rifles 3, which has very little to do with the comparisons we're usually making -- the folks on this forum are more concerned with Master Pistoleer vs. Master Carbineer vs. Master Rifleman or whatever.

Thunderheart is just discovering something that you and I know, which is that pistols are very newb-friendly and get most of their power at low levels. Our relative power peaks at Novice Pistoleer ... after that we start getting worthless specials, the speed equation starts working against us, etc.

If I thought that Thunderheart was actually the guy designing the combat system, I would freak out because he's making some incorrect assumptions based on his experiences in the Marksman tree. But he's not. Thunderheart is just their Customer Relations guy.

Do I think we're a low priority for SOE? Absolutely, one of the lowest. I think that's because they look at the "metrics", see that there are so many "Novice Pistoleers", and assume that Pistoleer must be working great (which it's not, as we all know). But that has nothing to do with Thunderheart, at least as far as I can tell. He just relays information between us and the Devs and tries to keep folks on the forum happy.

I like TH and I think TH is doing a good job but he may have too much on his plate. There is no way he can have a one weekend marathon and understand all there is to know about every class. I hope he will listen to the correspondents and not just rely on his own observations.

Hrm...im a TKM and going for Master pistoleer as well. im doing this mainly becuz u guys have better defenses than we do. U can master 1 tree and u have better defenses than a TKM...congrats that is officially the worst thing i have sean in this game. But i do agree with u on the fact that our special really do suck and dont compare with the lastditch shot of smugglers...hehe the comparison isnt even close. I would like to see the special upped a lil bit. but to say that u dont have anything and that ure at the bottom of the totem pole is borked!

I think you have a good point. I had a problem with him saying that death decay is here to stay, after declaring that it wasn't a problem based upon his one weekend worth of play. He plays one weekend and suddenly he knows what's going to work in the long run better than people who have been playing this game since day one of release?

I think TH is a good guy, and certainly he interacts with the players more than any of the other Devs, but that doesn't make him right. Especially when he's basing his opinions (which can result in broad sweeping game changes) on a weekend's worth of play here and there.

I don't think death & decay are staying because HE said so, Im absolutely sure that he is actually relaying the feelings of the Dev's.

All MMO Devs know there has to be a penalty upon death, and for whatever reason decay is thier answer along with possible wounds. Actually, if you simplify it to the very bottom, it's just all about Credits.
Since their economy is completely player driven(mistake), money continues to stay in the game. NPC things such as shuttles, cloning, insurance, matinence etc. are the only way to make money disappear. I dont see what was wrong with the last system, I didn't mind corpse runs(if I didn't completely insure), but I guess they don't like them.

But this is one of those things that wouldn't change if TH liked it or not. He's just saying "It's here to stay" because that's probably a pretty fierce sentement in the Dev meetings.
