Im getting a little frustrated with pistoleer, most of you say its a great profession and i beleive you.. i think the problem lies in my methods!
I am a master pistoleer, i have BH pistol tree and the smuggler pistol tree, (i own a geo 2.7 max 344, and an acid max 300ish) i would like to use my template for pvp (solo/and grouped)
Ive read some guides on the forums but most of them date back to 2003 so i dont know if there out of date..
just wondering if you guys could give me some pointers, as in what weapons with what damage i should be looking to buy. Also what combos of moves do you would use etc..

any info greatfully received

Try this out and see how you like it.

I use this list exclusively and it works wonders.

(In this general order)

/eyeshot til blinded - lowers accuracy of opponent

/lastditch til stunned - lowers dmg output

/intimidate - lowers damage output

/torsoshot x2 - fire health DOT (spam a few times to get a good roll for tick) -- strongest gun(geo if u got it)

/bleedingshot x3 - random pool bleed, spam to be sure of a health bleed -- strongest gun

/healthshot1 x1 - health bleed -- strongest gun

/healthshot2 - health bleed -- strongest gun

/panicshot -- strongest gun

/peace

Reapply /eyeshot and /lastditch with a Mod Rep Blaster - 105 health bleed, blinded, stunned

/panicshot

/peace

/switch to E11 Carbine - 150 Health Bleed

If you want to be really nasty, use /fullautosingle for the dizzy then switch back to pistols and use /lowblow, then spam /lastditch or /HS2 or /Torsoshot and let the hate tells flow

I have a non-CH pet that has a dizzy special attack and of course he's weak as hell, but if the dizzy sticks, low blow, and hit them for everything you can. I prefer to spam healthshot2, just because it causes bleed, and you are targeting a single pool. Once they're up I whip out the torso shot, eye shot, panic shot, last ditch, any thing to slow them down enough to finish them off.

If you have a BioEngineer friend, it may behove you to try to get a non-CH pet with dizzy (and disease if possilbe). Preferably something with ranged attack. Of couse if you have the cred and can find a pre-nerf pet, that would be the best way to go. I have a pre-nerf blurgg (but no dizzy )

Toastie, looks like solo PvP is covered already, so here's some for groups fights.

I generally lead off with /fanshot off of a mind poison geo blaster. At the beginning of a group fight, the opposition is generally grouped close together. When the break happens, and there are alot of guys just running around, I run this macro:

/ui action cycleTargetOutward;

/fanshot;

/fanshot;

That fires twice for every target, and in general, I stop when I see that everyone has a poison tick going. It has a fair chance to catch more than one person in the fan. Why the mind poison when pistols can't hit that without eyeshot? Because it supports your riflemen and two handed swords and TKMs. Group PvP is about who has the best team.

I then swap weapons to suit the target that I will go after next. In almost every case, it'll be the DE-10. That weapon has huge damage when properly made of krayt tissue (mine isover 600powered up). It will take down shield gens reasonably fast, and open up the way for the Geo blaster.

Now, pick your target. Do not tangle with riflemen without help! Rifles have insanely high defenses and kite you all over. Blast on the melees. No ranged mitigation, in general. Find a pikeman or two handed guy and open up. If you think they are using a shield gen, use an acid weapon over the stunner or the DE-10. If you are shooting at a Jedi, acid or DE-10 is the way to go, and in general, over 2 minutes into the fight, most shield gens are gone.

If the fight goes for a long time, and you see the poison dots dropping, grab the mind poison weapons and go again. I don't advocate swapping to a carbine and trying to land a little 105 health bleed, because your accuracy will be low. Stick with pistols, use the mindpoison and eyeshotto support your CMs and riflemen and keep moving.

To buy:

Get yourself as much pistol accuracy or pistol accuracy while moving as you can. Make a belt with good skill AA's in it.

Get yourself Krayted weapons. Scatter, DE-10, Geo.

Get mind poison or mind fire pistols. Generally Geo blasters, but I've seen SR-combat weapons with mind fire on my server.

Get yourself dodge clothing and tapes and AA's. You need 20 points of dodge to cap. Get it.

Get good food. I generally use exoprotein wafers over synthsteak since I can pop those all battle and never get full Good brandy, Air-cake, Thakitillo, Vegesperine, Smuggler's delight (take this half hour before you PvP, so you can use spice and have a short downer if you have to) and parwan nutricake. That last is the most underrated food ever, but your burst run is FAST on this stuff and sometimes you need to get away or chase.

Get you and your mates on Teamspeak. That way you can watch combat spam and not have to mess with group chat.

Teamspeak is definetly the way to go. God Bless Teamspeak. It makes them game much, much more enjoyable and frees up your hands. It doesn't slow your PC down noticably (or at least those of us blessed with broad band. Curse to the depths the one who chose a typing interaction environment.

Run up to opponent,
intimidate lowblow torsoshot last ditch torsoshot last ditch, they usually are dead by now. but continue as nescessary. Thats what you do on crappy melee defense stackers. This works best with a 600pt + de-10 or geo pistol. i say de-10.

Yep use a similar kind of method.

Its amazing how many pistoleers with the Dirty Fighting tree don't use intimidate, use it first and as soon as it drops hit them with it again.

I would go DE-10 over Geo, unless they are not wearing stun armour in which case Last Ditch + Geo is very funny. Doesn't matter what armour they have on, last ditch with a good DE-10 is always going to hurt.

Dizzy is our enemy so might be worth drinking some Ithorian Mist before to give your Def vs Dizzy a bit of a boost, also popping some air cake gives you a nice Dodge increase with very low fill. Also keep a muon and vurcupti handy in your toolbar as these can be a lifesaver. If you have equilibrium then toolbar that as well - I am a zebrak and that has been a livesaver on more than one occasion

I friendly duel a lot as well, against a variety of different combat types - its an excellent way to learn your strengths and weaknesses and those of the other proffessions.

keep in mind that intimidate and stun lower the damage output so if you can get both on a person the damage they can do is minimal.

If you are wanting to 'kite' and stay out of range of the meleers just use last ditch and stun them. It has the same effect as intimidate but you can do it at range.

Also keep in mind the effectiveness of our health/body shots. A good portion of the players are worried about Headshots and eyeshots or any head hit in PvP, therefore they only buy helmets with stun protection. If you can lay into someone without stun armor you can do major damage.

You know as much as I love my LLC I am really considering returning to Rogue for PVP since I can always return to Novice commando if I want toget my MBHlater. I will admit that I get owned hard in PVP, and have yet to get my DE-10. I am saving up this week to afford one, and may even go two weeks so I can buy something exceptional. Just got LLC IV last night, and it has been fun completely ruining lairs with it. The one thing I have noticed too is that Low Blow seems to work way better than PMD1 or 2.

Try using Disarming shot on the lairs. It does x2 damage to it. You can go through lairs pretty quick that way.

Low blow is great because you can do it at range and not have to be close to anyone

Don't bother trying to bleed people, it's a waste of good shots.

This is what I used to be with great efficiency...

Use your best Geo gun
Warcry/PanicShot them and spam intimidate
Last ditch them a few times to get them stunned
Then either keep using Last Ditch (if they have little or no medic, use Torso shot too) or switch to Eyeshot if they can heal fast.

That's the easy part.

The hard part is keeping them intimidated and stunned while kiting.

Also, you can use Lowblow and Suppression Fire 1 to help you kite (kd and posture change). If you become kneeled and dizzy, use Kip Up Shot to stand you up without falling.
