Thread: Mastering Pistoleer ADVANTAGES/DISAVANTAGES
I have a delima, and I was wondering if you wonderfull folks of the Pistoleer Professions can help me make a decision. I am currently a Master DOC and I have Pistoleer at 2,4,4,3. Is it worth it to get Master GunFighter? PVP wise or PVE wise? I just dont know what to do. I have a tuff time in PVP, considering I am a doc and I spend a majority of the time saving peoples asses
I have 2 macros set up on the pistoleer line that I use for PVP and PVE, both work ok but not something that will win me top PVPer and PVEr awards. For charging players or mobs I have /stopping shot;/bodyshot2;/fanshot;/fanshot;/fanshot. For up close attacks or melee I use /pistol melee1;/doubletap;/fanshot;/fanshot;/fanshot. I would be interested in hearing some of the macros that people use and there effectiveness. Hopefully that should shed some light as to what I need to do too.
I have thought alot about ditching the range support line in Marksmen, dont use it one bit now a days and thinking about going the rifle line. With my remaining points I can either go master pistoleer, or have pistoleer at 0,4,4,0 and have riflemen up to 4,0,0,0.

If you want to use pistoleer/Doc templet... Iwould suggestpistoleer 0-4-4-3 doc. 4-4-4-0 and smuggler 0-0-4-0 and i do really good in pvp.
macro: /lowblow /lastditch /panicshot /lastditch /lastditch or /panicshot /fanshot /lowblow /lastditch
With the doc at 4-4-4-0 you can do good buffs and stop poison/disease
and the pistoleer trees would give you speed/marksman and all the great def. that pistoleers get.
The reason i would pick smuggler would be for low blow, last ditch, and panic shot. Low blow KDs people, panic shot delays people (a really good shot because it delays people for 10secs and can even delay a group of people). Last ditch because it is the most powerful pistol shot right now.

Mastering Pistoleer for me has been a big bonus. The speed advantages are great, plus all the defensive bonuses keep me alive. Coupled with the DF line in Smuggler I can take BH's. At Master you also get level 3 ranged damage mitigation, which can help you own those nonMaster hybrid templates. As far as kiting goes, that is how a Pistoleer is supposed to fight, considering the defenses and bonuses. If your standing there letting a TKA or Commando run up to you and smoke you then you need to rethink your tatcitcs. If you go with PLCMartin's template I would suggest instead you max the stances line for the speed, and take the Grips line as far as you can to get as much dodge as possible.With the smuggler specials from the DF line you won't need the Pistoleer special from the Techniques line, and the state defenses are of little benefit in PvP with special spam the way it is.
Master doctor master + pistoleer is great, you can buff yourself, heal if needed etc.
If you are zabrak, master doctor plus anything is amazing, with buffed health andactionone can healthemselves then hit equilibriem which, because health and action are higher than mind, fill the entire mind bar. then you can heal your H&A and be almost completely refreshed.
Idon't know if pistoleer is the best thing to stack with master doctor though, TKM, which is awesome alone, is great to pair with doctor for double buffs, FoW with a stamina or constitution buff will get you up from incap in half a second and maybe some other thing(s). As apistoleer doc one can spam anything with out action or health cost and as a master doc, this IMO is crucial and should be a little obvious, max out mind, willpower and focus and drop everything else because you can buff. that will take care of every ham cost from using specials.
Chaos'e ( i think that's how it's spelt) on the tarquinas server is a master doctor + master TK, ask him about it more, I'm sure he knows more than I do.
the +20 speed at master pistoleer is INVALUABLE
i think it would be better to get master pistoleer andfire stopping shot with good speed in pvp rather than get dirty figthing 4 and fire last ditch extremely slowly.

Ok, first, you need to work on your macros a little. First, unless I missed a post that these specials were fixed, double tap and stopping shot are a little bugged. True stopping shot does alot of damage, but the speed handicap it causes is more than enough to steer me clear of it in a pvp battle where the average fight lasts 10 sec or less.
Which brings me to my next point about pvp, don't let all those powermongering tka's incite you to fight them up close. Pistoleer is a ranged combat, that is it's advantage. If you fight them at melee distance, forget the fact that they'll tear you apart with their regular moves, remember if you are ranged and they are melee, they have a to hit bonus. The only reason melee combatants gripe about kiters is because they know that this is the only way we can beat them in most situations. Take kiting away and we're just another gnort on the map. So kite them suckers and get master pistoleer for the extra speed and on-the-run accuracy which are the other advantages.
If you pvp with a group, help your other buddies out by staying back out of the main fight and just bleed everyone. /healthshot1, healthshot2 (they stack) then just let your speed and accuracy take over (unless the baddies are in a group, then fanshot of course.
Afterall, one of the best pvp players on my server is simply master pistoleer/ MCH (no, it's not me
) It's all a matter of good strategy and smart maneuvering.
i thought mastering pistoleer was pointless, multi target shot is horrible, found fan shot more effective, disarm shot 2, why??
Only good bonus was the dodge, speed didnt matter, never usually see guns THAT slow to need that extra bit of speed master pistoleer gives
