Thread: Serious players need to quiet whiney, pubescent NOOBS

I know most of my fellow Master Gunfighter comrades enjoy this game a lot, despite some of the frustrating bugs with our profession. My second character is a BH and I know most of my fellow BH's enjoy this game, with the same above-mentioned caveat.

Having said that, it's time we stop enabling all of these "whiners" to moan and wail about how overpowered one class is compared to theirs because they got spanked in PvP. I have laid out as much pain as I have received in PvP. The times I lost were not because I was completely out gunned, but actually just unlucky or stupid. You know, simple stuff...like don't get too close to commandos...and wear a helmet when fighting a BH.

SOE put this game out for one reason; to make money. And in order to make money, they have to respond to the concerns of their customers. If the majority are complaining about other professions and how they are overpowered...well, it's fairly obvious what the DEVS will do to accomodate their customers...NERF.

If the serious gamers can put a lid on the whiners and limit our own rants to profession specific fixes, I think we will be better off. I'm certain this has been brought up before, as I have read many wonderful posts on these boards from some obviously intelligent and thoughtful people. I just wanted to vent a bit after reading endless NERF threads.

I can say that leveling pistoleer in combination with doctor was MUCH easier than leveling BH with my second character. I don't know about other pistoleer templates and leveling though. I plan on mastering BH with my second character for the grind and sense of accomplishment...not because of some juvenile, destructive male desire to dominate other cartoons that run around in pretend computer world. I know there are many other grown ups with careers and letters after their names that grew up with Star Wars. Let's keep this game evolving and growing and eliminate temper tantrums that draw the 'bottom-line' watchful eyes of the DEVS

Holy Jebus! This is a happy day!

Here lies proof that not all SWG gamers are preteens (no offense to the kids here, though - sorry kids! *waves*). I too have mastered Doctor in combination with Pistoleer (very close to master now BTW) after trying many other professions for one reason - It's fun! Something that detracts from this fun, however, are the complaining newbs that are the subject of this thread. I usually look forward to coming home from my professional career and logging into this fake world that I've loved since childhood to escape from the politics, economy and obligation thatburden our everyday lives.

It's when I arrive at the hub of player ignorance (whether it be a happening cantina or a thriving starport) that I am reminded of why I gladly /logout at a reasonable hour to prepare for my next day of RL.

Basically, I am saying I hear ya and I agree. But, I ask you, what shall we do? Don't kill newbs? I think that you will find, as I have, that these players are inherent in any online community. I am not saying that I wouldn't like to quiet them, I am just suggesting that it is not realistic to do so. It's not like there's a /growup command that instantly makes your target wiser (at the expense of you suffering major BF and mind wounds, of course).

I have faith that the developers are wiser than nerf criers give them credit for. It is through our correspondents and more intelligent community members that this game will be made better for all, not the crybabies that aren't quite sure how to form a complete sentence.

Good comments everyone. I'm not the most technologically inclined person, but I have to say I have loved the discovery of forums. What a great medium to share ideas. Anyway, I agree that we shouldn't silence whiners...sometimes I just rant a bit...hehe.

I don't think I have a lot of faith in the DEVS. Not that they are bad or stupid people, quite the contrary. I just think they will look at the bottom line when making changes to the game. Frankly, I would like it more if they wouldn't change/alter the basic game at all, but rather fix bugs/exploits that currently exist. I don't care that commandos have huge attacks, or that BH's can sometimes 2 shot eyeshot kill me, or that CM's can poison/disease me from a long distance. The beauty of this game is the ability everyone has to customize their character. All of that is pretty obvious to most of us, and I know others much more intelligent than I have made that point more elegantly.

All in all, I think game is a real kick in the pants. My second character is so weak, crappy, and poor right now...haha. But I really enjoy the grind of leveling. The many different combinations of characters offers me tremendous replay value.

Well, I look forward to this thread and others with all of you. Keep on keeping this game a fun escape for grown ups who day dreamed about lightsabers and wet dreamed about Leia in her Jaba's Palace swim suit...muuaahh....sorry.

Here here, jwiener.

I echo your sentiments. But I don't see any way to quiet the voices of complainers. The beauty of SWG and the history of this galaxy -- Star Wars -- is that is inherently intergenerational. With that you get the wheat with the chaff. I think the responsibility lieswith us, active players without complaints, to do like you are doing and speak your mind. If the developers are indeed only driven by the squeaky wheels (and I hope they are not) then it is our mandate to be equally outspoken and provide them a level of balance.

I too am climbing the BH tree with my second character and enjoying itimmensely. It has been an, at times, a painful grind (certainly no worse than the smuggler/pistoleer of my first character), but the uniqueness of the character makes it compelling to me. Going off in search of a mark is a lonely journey -- but's it's the lonely journey of a bounty hunter! (For just a second there, I tap into the solemnity and isolation of one Boba Fett. But then it passes.) Whereas the world has been crafted to create a level of interdependency, the BH.

And it's been a fun cultural contrast to my pistoleer, whodue to whatevernature of the craft, ended up being a much more social experience.

Adelante!

We need to recognize that whining is the only enjoyment than some preteens have in their life.
