Thread: New pistols- Weaponsmith quests

I have some more reading to do so this mayhave come up and I haven't read it. But still I voice my opinion.



I would like to see a pistol with higher AP. The best pistol gets only light. Most are none. Or a faster gun. We do haves some speed advantage. Still fighting a carbineer with medium AP and 2.5 speed gives one a headache. Much more so against a BH or commando. A quest for a new gun would be great for the weaponsmith (rifles and carbineer quests too) and ranged fighters.


I am not really complaining. I can adapt and strategize against other wepons which is fun. This is just a wish list.

I'd like to see something cool like this with one exception:



Pistols should not be AP2 or AP3 weapons. Pistols fire fast, so giving us AP2 weapons would just be begging for the Nerf Fairy to come buy and fix us real good.

I have to agree with you Inhocmark. AP3 is not pistoleering. An AP2 would be quwstionable. I just want to see more AP1 pistols in kenetic and fire. We have light AP acid in the DX2 and energy with the republic. I hunt mobs for the meat, amny mobs run medium to heavy armor.


I like pistoleer even tho it doesn't go with CH as well as other ranged.It is my mindset. I Also carry 6 guns to fight with. Republic(AP1) and scout(no AP) for energy. DX2(AP1) for the acid. Fgw5(no AP)for the heat. Striker(no AP)for the kenetic. Tangle(no AP)for the stun. Where is the cold? Should I go Bh for the Scatter(no AP)and blast damge?



With the speed of pistoleer I can do AIM to get the extra damage done if I have the HAM. SAP shot gets double bleed shot damage. Double Tap does double damage with AIM. None of that works without AP. I do search around at many weaponsmiths to find the faster pistols. Hope and prey for a good slice. Add on good power ups. This makes a good profession.


Having a quest to get neew weapons would benefit rifle and carbineer as much as pistoleer. I gotta vote for the AP1 pistols. I am also toying with master marksmen and the other ranged guns to get the higher AP if I need it or have the skill points for it to be of advantage. I love pistoleer. Don't want to go to another ranged even if it is that much better with CH.

yeah i just think we need some better pistols, like the striker pistol, i mean if they could make a harder hitting one of those, wed be ok, same as the tangle pistol, be nice to see a cold or leccy pistol too but i aint holding my breth


only weapons i use, are the republic, scout, fw and the dx2, the rest i dont bother with - maybe i should.....

thing with the dx2 is the ranges are so poo, i mean to get 0+ on accuracy we have to be point blank - lol personally i dont like to get that close heh.
the only 2 with nice accuracy are the fw and the scout, 20m ish and ur laughin, even stood up or running.

I use all the pistol damage types. That way I can examine my prey and see it's vulnerables and choose my guns acorrdingly. For instance nightsisters are 100% to everything but kenetic. With a pitifully done striker and lived and killed one yet my3 partners perished (all energy users). But against a brackerset I am in trouble. Heavy armor vs. AP1 at best.

But lowering the speedcap for pistols is necessary (and i guess planned) because the other ranged weapons are as fast as pistols because of the speedskills. So the argument that pistols are fast and other ranged weapons are slower is a good one, but not ingame reality.

I'm not even sure about lowering the speed cap. We hit brutally fast now, any faster and it makes strategy and other combat dynamics means nothing.



I'm in favour of ramping up the different classes and having hard speed caps allied to each combat class to give a more realisitic view of combat.

'Close and inaccurate'? Close yes but accurate up close. Inaccurate far out is expected. More accurate than rifles when running is expected. Defensive moves for pistols not rilfes is a good thing. Lower damage than rifles is a good thing. No AP is hard to deal with. No AP religates pistols to low level PvE or PvP.


If I say carbines need to be slower or need a speed cap, I risk more nerfing. So let's forget that. Just make a new pistol for a quest. Let it have AP1. Let it be heat, cold, or kenetic AP1. Stun...I don't think you can AP stun. Truefully this is Star Wars. A futurist, advanced spacefaring universe. Certainly they have tech that is AP for a pistol. Come on if ewoks can kill stormtroopers then I should have an AP! pistol to kill ewoks.

Each class had it's pros and cons. Pistol should not be high AP... ever.


Think about the true operation of real pistols vs rifles vs heavy weapons. Pistols should be close, fast and inaccurate. Rifles should be far, slow and deadly acutare. Heavies should be wherever, hit wherever and level all buildings in a 2 block radius.


Pistols can't be beefy. I don't think they ever should be. I'm a pistoleer and I'm enjoying it. Speed and styleshould be our thing, nothing else. Melee moves with pistols are good too.

I agree that we need some more choices in the game.....



How many power5, striker or tangle pistol get sold in a couple of week. There really in not a HIGH demand like a DX2 or FWG5.


We could use a couple more option in all weapon trees.

pistoleer is the easiest profession in this game. Unfortunatly, you cant ask for that much. I was completely blown away by your kd+dizzy immunity. You guys got lucky as hell with that.

I dont think that an AP2 pistol is out of the question. here is some stats I would think would work...



200-300dmg


4.0 base speed


AP2


Damage type: Kinetic



the high speed would allow to take into account the difficulty to fire a hand cannon like that. I wouldnt see that as being an overly used weapon either. but it would be nice to have. the speed would hold a lot back from using it. but it would be nice to have against the higher armor mobs out there.

Ive always thought that basically(not always), pistolsmax=ap1, carbinesmax=ap2, riflesmax=ap3
