Well Im glad you dont mind lossing to someone but I assume by your statement you dont think you should ever loss to a pistoleer( ignoring there other skills). Well Im afraid its going to happen sometimes So you might as well get used to the idea thatra Master Pistoleer is good with a gun and can hurt you if your not carefull.

I have no problem losing to a fully specced pistoleer either (meaning he has complimentary skills like CH or Medic)

I do however mind losing to a player who has devoted a fraction of the skill points and time into their class than I have....

Why can you not see that 217 != 92?

217 = 217....a pistoleer who has spent 217 points in the right places SHOULD be the absolute equal to a BH... a pistoleer who has only spent 92 points in combat should be inferior simply because of the fact he only spend 92 points. Not that hard to grasp guys.

you guys also seem to be making the mistake in thinking that this is a rock/paper/scissors game...

like me having carbine skills means I am more powerful against a pistoleer or having pistols makes me more powerful against a carbineer....

this game does NOT work that way....if it did, it would be MUCH easier to balance and BHs would be what they should be...Superior in that they are ready for any situation...however, that is NOT the case here so drop the argument...

basically the pistoleers are arguing against me because they are currently the undisputed PvP/PvE gods in this game.

There should be no PvP/PvE gods in this game. Every class shoudl have a weakness. Pistoleers have NO weakness and can have the advantages of almost any other profession in addition to what they already have. They do not want their throne taken away and be made the equal of others who worked just as hard as them.

Again...until a 250pt-spent MBH is as powerful as a 250pt-spent (wisely spent. not on entertainer/artisan skills) pistoleer there is a SERIOUS problem

This thread makes me laugh. Lot of babies out there who lost their toy.


Seems obvious to me that BH would be *not quite* Master in all forms of combat. They are also like "detectives", so a large part their skills have not much to do with combat. I think Sherlock Holmes could probably track down Billy the Kid---that does not imply he could defeat him in a gunfight.Han Solo (pistoleer/smuggler?) kayoed the BH's in the end. LOL poor Greedo and even mostly blind he sends Bubba Fett into the Sarlaac. So based on the movies, the source material for this game, BH's are not uber.


I think after the BH tree gets fixed, they should be competitive not uber at PvP. I think if they use their investigative and tracking skills to confront a target, under favorable circumstances (time and place of their choosing, choosing weapons to exploit weaknesses, etc), then I think BH should probably own. I think humanoid traps are a good idea, like that flying rope that tied up Ben Kenobi's hands.


LOL I'm all for player initiated bounties on other players. When that happens, we can place bounties on all the BH's so they can fight amongst themselves and stop bothering us.

Have you even looked at the numbers Iebo. It takes alot of experience to be a masterpistoleer in fact it takes more then BHs need and one whole tree is combat exp. Yes a pistoleer has more points left over to use other places but we dont get to use almost every weapon in the game nor are we scoutsor marksman.

So since you have to blow more points on your profession, that means you should be compensated wtih better combat skills? I don't understand why you think you should be compensated with better combat skills. You are a bounty hunter for god's sake. Not a combat specialist.

I hear what you're saying. I think many people agree. However, it's simply not possibly IMO to see that far ahead. Not everyone is running around right now as a mastery BH or a master pistoleer + master combat medic. Sure, a few are, but having most of your opponents topped out won't happen for a while. until then, it's almost impossible for us as players randomly fighting in PvP to figure out too terribly much about balance. YES, if given armor/shields/buffs/food, you are able to be defeated by someone spamming knockdown alone, that's a problem,maybe. That makes KD a trump card. But you also get the same card, so it can't be that horribly imbalanced even based on just that.What about KD resist? You can gain some in the pistoleer tree as well. How about skill tapes..will that have a skill modso you can cover your #1 weakness, and retain your strengths, and thus, end up on top again? So you gain +60 KD resist, ignore all the master pistoleer KDs and eyeshot them to heck and back....maybe. Way too early to know.


Smugglers get KD, and they need FAR fewer points to gain that. I mean, so you get a torso shot off before you get knocked down. once you get up, you stim yourself to full health, and the pistoleer has a rack of health wounds that cannot be healed in combat? I just don't know, I haven't seen the high end fighters duke it out over and over enough to make power judgements. I HOPE, as you seem to, that different maxed out skill point profession mixes, if spent on combat related things, should be able to "compete" in various situations.

jaegan, I agree with you on many points....but....

very few people in this game have ever been hit by a pistolwhip and lived to fire back...

I won't argue that KDs aren't lame in PvP. They are. Probably only TKA should have a knockdown that works in PvP. Even then it should NOT be spammable or even used more than once or twice in a fight.

*IF* bhs had other tools available to them, especially humanoid traps I would be satisfied with the current situation (except that Investigation/Carbine/LLC trees are broken)

I know lots of players that dont use pistols and do just fine. I have seen people killed with rifles, carbines, swords, VKs just about everything. Pistoleers dont hold the crown of best combat professional. We arnt great at distance.do they need to fix things like defenses and range issues sure but that doesnt make the pistoleer thebest.

if carbines/rifles had a distinct advantage over pistols over say 15m then things would be much better...

also, pistolwhip needs to be *truely* unspammable and not work against things it shouldn't....same goes for *ALL* KDs...even BH ones.
