Also I have no idea why pistols carbines and rifles all work at 64 meters. Maybe make rifles 128, carbines 64 and pistols 32. Each should own at their respective distances. Yeah in a city ora cantina pistol will rule but in an open battlefield rifle will. Carbine is the intermediary.

Defensive skills should reflect offensive weapon. Pistol: high defense and rate of speed, lower fire power. Rifle: low rate of speed and defense, but high power. Carbine is the middle. Pistol is the least encumbering weapon and most agile.

These two ideas are the ones I agree with most as they express my general feelings on ranged combat in SWG. Although I do think 32m is a bit close-in for pistols given that this is a sci-fi world. 64m is extreme range with a pistol while standing and using a good scope or laser sight, so that's a good range for them in-game too. But with my .22 carbine, I can get a 12cm target grouping at 200m and I'm not even very good. And the game just won't handle going all the way out to a reasonable sniper rifle range. Still, Pistol 48m, Carbine 96m, Rifle 144m would be good and it would give more room for range modifiers to make a bit more sense.

As for defenses fitting the class, I've seen lots of mentions of changes to the meleedefense abilities, but if this one was in there, I missed it:

Active Evasion - +20 to dodge, +10 to melee defense, -20 to pistol accuracy, -10 to pistol speed. Have it last for one or two rounds, similar to Aim, but for defense rather than offense. Of course, this is only goodif the defensive bonuses work. There could either be a second, more effective one higher up, or one that deals with active evasion versus ranged attacks as well.

PBS2- I like the idea of raising the Action and Mind cost of this move slightly and making it AP+1 to represent going for a **edit** in the armor. After all, every joint is a weakness. Higher AM costs show the effort made in noticing the opening and positioning the weapon fast enough to take advantage of it. Another option would be to have it affect the mind pool, though I don't like that option as well. Personally, if someone or thing were that close, I'd go for a lethal shot rather than stopping power (center mass), but it doesn't fit as well with the current profession area of focus (the Health bar.)

PBA2- I don't have this, but I have PBA1 and I like the lower end version just fine. Having an area attack even if it's point-blank is quite useful when being eaten by womprats.

SS- Should go for Health pool and causekd or position change andstun. A shot from a .357 will lay someone out on their backs from a standing position or on their faces if they were running into it. I think the sci-fi equivalent should at least make them stumble for a second, which is all posture changes do now. Stopping shots are to be aimed at center mass, which is the torso, which seems to correlate with the health pool in this game.

Position change- I think moving this down to 15 sec. delay vs. creatures and leaving it at 30 sec. for NPCs and PvP would be good. I don't PvP since I'm an artisan, not a gunman, but I'd really like to be able to hold off a couple of womprats at a time successfully instead of the current suppressionfire sequence: Round 1-If it works, rat squats, if not it attacks. Round 2- rat stands. Round 3- rat teleports to my position. Now it's only another 13 combat rounds before that's usable again. Not much of a suppression. Leaving it higher for NPCs is fine, since they should be smarter than the animals and be better at avoiding this sort of thing. And for PvP, getting spammed by knockdowns would make things fairly uninteresting, so I understand the implementation there.

Please tell them to try fixing the other professions in response to complaints instead of the current practice of breaking anything that happens to be working somewhat.

Point Blank Area is useful in the right situations. But it doesn't seem to be doing area attacks anymore since the last patch(tested PBA2)
