The M60 machine gun is still in limited service in the US Army. Where the M60 was used in a squad support role, it has been for the most part, replaced by the M249 SAW. Where the M60 was used mounted on a vehicle, it has been replaced by the M240 MG. There area considerable number ofunits that have the M60 MG authorized on their TOE's. I have never really heard a satisfactory answer as to why the M60 MG is being phased out, 7.62mm vs 5.56mm, you choose. And the M249 SAW is ungodly to maintain and clean compared to the M60. Got to have the 'latest and greatest' equipment I guess.

Master rifelman is surely the strongest off the 3 proffessions but there are still some things that i wanna get into consideration:

1. The fixing/ balancing is a dynamic process, so while rifelman may have gotten too strong with one patch it might be pistoleer that will be the strongest after the next patch (i fell like beeing a beta tester after every patch)

2. master Rifelman with a non speed sliced rifel alone dont get to the speed cap. My tests results showed something like 1.8, but due to the high damage we still outgun all other proffessions so its not an argument against any nerf its just for carification..

3. Rifelman has nothing to dabble in to improve rifelman skills besides Mastermarksman (btw the +5 rifel speed will get us to the cap).

4. Rifelman defences suck. With just my master rifelman i got owned by Carbineers(KD spamming), smugglers (delay and KD) and BHs very often. Well, not pistoleers which i would say rifelman is not overpowered but pistoleer in some way underpowered.

5. Putting a cap on rifel speed or skills in general would mean the end of dabbling. Another thing is that all the armor/clothing attachments would be useless. Someone who spents all his money on the best equipment/skill enhancers and puts all his skillpoints in professionsto aid his template should be better than someone who just mastered one combat profession and not be capped at some point.

A last point: pistoleers are the weakest combat profession right now although there are some nice combos with defnce stacking and smuggler skills. But most of the posts above seem like you blame rifelman for your current weaknesses. And i have seen some posts that stated that rifleman complain about pistoleers dodging too often. I am in the rifelman form everyday for a few month now and i have nver seen such a post. The only thing i have seen is people complain about defence stackers.

Is it just me or doesn't it seem it should:

Fastest

Carbinee -- assault rifle, fast low recoil medium weight high capacity magizine -- lets say 1 sec specials

Pistol -- light weight semi auto low recoil medium magizine -- 2 sec specials

Rifles -- heavy semi-auto high recoil small magizine -- 3 sec specials

that was easy

True indeed, don't we all remember in the earlier days when Pistoleer was the most whined about "overpowered" class, and Rifleman was the weakest due to slow and inacurrate weapons?

Then a T21 patch and a couple more publishes and the Devs have given Rifleman the leg up for a while.

My theory is Carbineers are next to be the uber-overpowerd-by-"mistake"-of-the-devs-class

I'll throw in my .02cr. First off I did pistol for a little tiny while (don't think I ever got novice), but then I saw a T21 and was like, wow thats a big gun, so I took up rifleman Grinding rifleman used to suck pretty bad, its gotten a lot better now. Anyway, rifleman suck relative to most other ranged professions all the way to master, 4444 rifleman and MRM are two completely different creatures. At master we become pretty freaking good, throw master marksman or a few speed tapes on top of that and we're crazy powerful. But I have seen a few misconceptions here that I would like to dispell:

MRM cannot spam strafe 2 on a T21 at the 1 sec cap unless they have a speed powerup and a 35+% speed slice. For my T21 with just MRM I shoot it at about 2.6sec for strafe 2 (I can prove this with math or screen shots for all the neigh sayers out there)

MRM cannot spam strafe 2 without being buffed. My 1100 mind bar would be completely drained in 7 shots if I didn't have food and buffs, at the 2.5sec speed thats emptying my mind bar in 20 seconds without anybody else having to touch me. Honestly this here is why RM sucked so long and is awsome now. It has very little to do with actuall rifleman changes and more to do with the fact they fixed buff stacking, so now you can eat, drink, and spice your way to no HAM costs, regardless of professions, no doc or entertainer required. I dunno about you guys but I always have about 10 different food/drink/spice combos on me for different situations.

Note: in both these cases I assume only master rifleman, if you add master marksman to the mix, they can shoot strafe 2 at about 1.3 sec, throw some rifle speed tapes on that and you can shoot anything at 1 sec. also note in order to get this kind of speed we need something that is a relatively rare drop, and/or spend an additional 34 points on marksman. Yes I realize that you all have to spend a lot more skill points to get the BH pistol line or get a LOT more tapes than we do, but taking up the BH line will let anybody get to 100 pistol speed who choses to, while not every rifleman can get tapes. Best thing you can do is when you see rifle speed tapes being sold... Buy them

I don't think pistoleers need thier speed cap lowered personally, I don't think rifleman need thiers raise either. I DO think you need a Double Fist ability at master that lets you equip two guns, for a 25-50% reduction in accuracy or so. To me that would be much cooler than just letting you shoot faster, maybe make a few master level "combo's" that only work with two guns equiped. What we need is a smidge lower defenses, slower guns (not higher cap) and a bit higher HAM costs on our more damaging specials to counteract the fact that food is fixed (or wait till we see how the new HAM cost things work)

Personally I love how powerful rifleman become at master, I just wish they could figure out how to make more masteries as appealing (two guns would go a long way for making master pistoleer much more enticing)

Carbineers now... maybe they could give them a cane or crutches at master, to help compensate for how gimp they are
