Thread: Pistoleer State of the Profession Report (11/6/03)
Just hoping devs are sifting here....
please fix our profession:!
or Ill stop playing or something...
sorry I still enjoy being a Pistoleer even without any real "bomb" like other characters--while it does suck atm--I have hope they will fix us and give us that bomb that all other combat characters seem to have (almost all). In the meantime Pistoleer makes a hell of a healer guard (just a role suggestion ive found to be useful at for now).
Rock on Pistoleers

Thats the best report on pistoleers I have ever seen, bar none.
I've just come back from a 3month enforced break from SWG. I must say I nearly cried when I saw Jaegen had resigned as our correspondant; instead I held back the tears and yelled "Noooooooooooooooo!" for a solid minute (I havelarge lungs).
However, on reading this SoTP report my hopes are renewed - great job Phil! You've done Jaegen and the rest of us proud.
Yesterday Thunder posted on the Commando forrums asking for their top 5 issues (they have no correspondant at the moment) so hopefully that means something's being done about the professions now. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that they read each and every point made by Phil and do something about as many that is in their power to!
Then, once we're working nicely, we can go back to our dreams of holsters, quick drawing twirleyness and running around with two pistols blazing ![]()
/salute Incredible post, Philo!!
I /agree with about every single thing on this post. This is probably the best State of Profession Reports on the forums!! I just hope the devs take the time to actually read it...
NObugs that have been reported as early as August should be going unheard, unanswered,or unfixed.
As an aspiring Master Pistoleer who doesn't spend tons of time on this board, your report really helped me understand my chosen profession and the game mechanics behind it.
At the very least even if the devs don't address the issues soon, it makes us players aware of them in detail and lets us figure out the best way to move forward under these conditions.
And also to ask, "Am I the only one that hates the 'Pistoleer' title?" I'd much rather be known as "Master Gunslinger".

YER BUGGER!!
I just picked up this game over the weekend at the suggestion of a couple of friends. After pouring over the manual and some of the online helps, I was very interested in the idea of a Pistoleer/Slicer. Now, however, I think I'll just drop Medic and Scout (which helped to give me some variety and flavour) and go with Commando.
Thank you very, very much for this SotP Report, as it has steered me away from something I wouldn't have been happy with... causing me frustration which probably would have seen me quit the game in anger. Take note of this, devs - if you don't even the class balance as the game progresses,we will start to see fewer and fewer different builds of characters. People will just become clones when the optimal ratio of skills is determined.
excellent report, viewed almost three thousand times so far (3000) you'd hope the issues would get some attention.
thanks again,
Wow! you've made some excellent observations.
I hope they change some of this stuff.
