Do what I am doing.. Cancel your account and wait 3 months.. Give tSony no money while they fix their messed up game. If enough people do this it will be amazing how it wont take "until Febuary or March" to fix our problems..
Sony has always historically given far more development to expansions to make more money while leaving everything broken and using the logic that as long as people are playing the game, that it cant be that bad... I am not putting up with it anymore.. See you all in 6 months if they fix everything (I am sure by then they will make it 300x more hard to level rather than put in high end content as well) or high end content will be handled by another 40 dollar expanson x 3

AGREED,
We quit Planet Side for the same reasons. (We = local gaming giuld) Talk of expansions & hollow promises make for bad business. A friend had to talk me into playing SWG, assuring me different devs would make a difference. Hell, he had to buy the game for me. Doesn’t matter who the devs are, they do as they're told & I don’t blame them.
I buy Sony products (most recent a 21’ monitor) if things don’t change soon my family & I will never buy another Sony product. I don’t expect to strike fear into the hearts of Sony COs but at least I’ll feel better. Huge companies can do whatever they want, there’s nothing to stop them. Smaller corps have to follow their lead or drown. As a small business owner I could never sell a faulty product, if I did I’d be locked up faster than flies landing on a fresh pile. I realize software is never really “finished” & updates are just a part of the game. But be forewarned, release an expansion without COMPLETELY fixing all current bugs & I’m quitting.... not just SWG, I’m quitting Sony.
I commendthe devforthier awesome concepts & games! Please prove to me they can work!
Salschaka,
I agree even though most sony products are the best and high quality, it does not EVERgive them reason to lack in the gaming industry this bad. And on top of that, it isnt a one time buy like a monitor or tv, IT IS A CONSTANT PAY. Thus , it should be the top of the line and not even close to as many bugs as it has now.
I left for about 2-3 months hoping that they would fix something and then come back to something far more unbalanced. If they put out the expansion before the patches (or if those patches fix nothing) i will probably throw in the towel to.
Ive trusted sony a bit too long and will invest my money ina betterquality entertainment soon if they dont fix this.
Excuse me...
If the QA team only notices these problems after the players have reported them a few times then... what does the QA team do exactly for the money they get? Surely not testing SWG.
Commandos have rocket launchers, particle beams, etc. that can shoot 64m, so your logic is flawed. no ranged profession should outdistance any other ranged profession for balance sake.

There isn't a 64m cap on all weapons. At least one, the flame thrower, requires the user to be much closer. I don't see everyone flocking away from commandos, so your logic is flawed.
Planetside has a wide variety of weapons with various ranges, from short to very long. Different game, to be sure, but why wouldn't that work with SWG?
The answer is obvious: The 64m cap simply doesn't allow for much in the way of range differentiation. The 'long' range rifle isn't much different than the 'short' range pistol.
You could make varying weapon range caps work, but it would involve overhauling the whole combat system. Removing the profession-based speed modifiers would help out tremendously. Sure, your rifle fires 100m, but you can't fire it faster than once per 10 seconds, ever.
We have a “Weapons Balance” that will bring a lot of fun to the game and it will be out in the January or February Publish. I know your first reaction will be, “January or February!?!?”, but consider it. Every weapon in the game will be re-balanced and there will be a lot of progress on many fronts.
See...I just deleted an extreamly "down-to-the-point" post about stopping the nerfage, andactually allowing us to enjoy the game. But, I realized I've wasted my time...Not like SoE will act on it. So...I'll get back to playing like every SoE drone, and curse at them ingame, about how they suck, how they're imcompetant, etc. For making Star Wars Galaxies, crap.
SoE has a nice ratio of making good things while nerfing others, 1:10,000, for every fixed thing (that no one really gives a s**t about) the nerf 10,000 other things that people rely on.
I swear...Sometimes, if it wasen't for a few pals ingame, I'd quit. I would, because Star Wars Galaxies is as much Star Wars-y, as some cartoons...Let me see what a good comparison would be...Hello Kitty.
There, all I have to say, and I think may would agree.
I don't mind the balance issues as much(which are the most difficult things to design around and QA), but the things in the game that clearly either do nothing (remember ballot terminals?), don't do what they're supposed to or advertised to (broken specials in so many professions), or clearly are misconceived (such as the speed formula) are of greatest concern. Things that do nothing should be removed from the game until they do. Things that don't do what they're supposed to should have their descriptions changed to reflect what they actually do, or removed, or fixed, to eliminate the confusion. Things misconceived must be fixed based on their significance to the game as a whole.
The best way to address a problem quickly is to put in a quick fix that removes something from the game (take out the ballot boxes or broken specials) orchange the descripiton of something (so the description matches the gameplay). After that you can take more time to fix it or replace it the right way. People will always scream and complain, but at least if what they see works as described, they won't say things are broken.
The little things go a long way...
