I can't see any reason why they wouldn't appoint you. You seem to have all the right qualifications to me.
I was playing with guns tonight...
Had a Featherweight FWG5 made with +156 gorax shards, seems the cap is 936 for max damage on a pistol (although max dam pups took it up over 1k), so I asked for the rest to be put into SAC and got it down to 100 SAC.
Incedentally a -3% slice gave took it to 937 max damage, slicing seems a bit busted then.
With a 29% action cost reduction PuP thats 70... so then I stuck those pups on my converted DX2 that has about 916 Max damage and it went down from 84to 55 SAC.
Can spam quitea lot of damage that way, especially with the chef, spice and doctor action regen buffs.
It all made me realise that the action cost idea of % cost that I have in this post is all wrong. The specials all have specific action costs on them relative to the SAC of the gun you use.

doubt it very seriously, Badger, unless they completely change the way accuracy/defense works with max damage. Right now, we hit for a percentage of the max damage based off our accuracy vs the targets defense (then I guess there is a PvP mitigator? hmm, need an artisan with no ranged defense at all for a few tests...) They'd have to completely change the way the damage calculation works for DPS to at least be an accurate measure of the guns strength (remember, there is no way my rep blaster will outdamage my FWG-5 right now, but it has a higher DPS.)
Interesting info regarding the weapon stats I had no idea we were speed capped at 1.73, though I suspected it from a few trials with PuPs. I guess it's the ~900 max damage mark we need to hit now, damn shame that. It's a bit of a mess really isn't it? Something has to be done about the DPS if nothing else, it's quite misleading and seen as not everyone reads the forums to know that's a real problem.

Seriously though this needs to stay near the top, it covers so much ground and answers lots of repeated questions like DPS etc. Also I'm hoping a ranger will fill int the gaps regarding traps, P-darts or something...

I think Master Ranger adds 10 to melee and ranged defense. I think Ranger adds battle armor certification. I think ranger adds creature to hit bonus. I don't think Ranger (or scout)adds anything else that affects using a pistol as the rest of the skills are terrain negotiation, camo, tracking, trapping, and harvesting skills.
Don't know for sure, though.
