Thread: devs: do something useful for us and make that colt .45 youre adding with crappy stats MEDIUM AP
You don't know your weapons very well.
How so? an Old Colt .45(not a .45ACP) dates back to the cowboy days. BTW a .45 255gr. Colt only has 420 Lb/Ft of energy at muzzle. Not enough to crack an engine block. I could see a .44Magnum doing it(with double the energy: 840 ft/lb), but not a .45Colt.

We don't have time to discuss this in a committee.
It all depends on the ammo. Just like in the game the components make the difference. It is not difficult at all to get a 45 to deliver over 600 lbs of muzzle energy with todays rounds. Sure if you buy the cheap rounds its even rough for target practice. A good round with a clean and well maintained pistol will deliver tremendous results.

I suppose if you're in to reloads. I don't know many people who like to reload a .45 colt. I would still rather have a .44mag than a .45 colt any day.
Now if this thing was baised on a .500Mag, that's some KABOOM! Magnum research makes a revolver called the BFR (Biggest Finest Revolver). It can be chambered for: .500 magnum, .45/70 govt., .440 Marlin, .450 Marlin, and some others. The ones I mentioned (esp. the last three) have a rep for big game killers with one shot. That's some impressive fire power. I wouldn't like to fire one of these on a regular basis, but for some reciol therapy, these will do the trick.

It's confirmed that the weapon stats have not been put on TC yet and any stats you have seen are not the correct ones (i.e. the ones that are intended). Hopefully we'll get newer versions of these weapons soon and we can get 'em tested out.
Lots of things change on TC before they go live. That means that it's good to fight for the changes you want. It also means that what you see may be a far cry from what yer supposed to get.

Xaver, I admit the object of giving new weapons should not be to make them more powerful everytime. The object should always be to give the profession another option in fighting. Lets look at the stats as we see from the first screen:
Range: sucks
Damage - on par with Republic
Damage Type - Energy (makes no sense with Republic already damage)
Speed - slow as hell (as if we werent slow enough, now we can definetly be the worse profession in the game using this gun)
AP - 0 (keep in mind we have an Energy gun with ap1 already why have 0)
What can I possibly do with this gun except stay in Coronet spaming "Hey look at my Gun, I'm so cool". The thing that makes me the most upset is they are waisting there time thinking up crap like this and not even LOOKING at our specials for 2-3 more months. That is why I'm disappointed, it seems they think throwing us a bone with no meat will be satisfying.
This goes with what I was saying. I'll admit not knowing toooo much about pistols, but if speed is an issue for you, how would making this super-fast be unbalancing? I think it would be perfect for the Pistoleer class to have at LEAST 1 very, very fast pistol (would go along with the fast speed, low damage concept I feel the Devs have envisioned for this class). Something along the lines of .5, maybe less? Especially with AP0 (and ENERGY damage no less), it seems to be only common sense....but then you all can't be the only ones thinking everything 'they' do makes sense
BTW, I have been under the impression that pistols are capped at .5 seconds. Is this correct, or is it 1 second?

We already have a very fast, low HAM Energy Pistol, and it's better that this new 'thing' in every aspect -the Scout Blaster. Even FWG5s are superior.
We have very fast Guns, we have every damage type out there except Cold, Electricity and Blast(not counting the Launcher Pistol). What we currently don't have is any form of decent AP. There's 3 light AP guns out there, 2 of them are Energy damage, one has 48m max range and the other one broken accuracy modifiers just like the DE-10. The third one is acid damage.
I've seen Scout Blasters as low as 0.5 speed, but that's irrelevant since you hit the speed cap (even with stopping shot) with a 1.7 or 1.9 gun.
a master gunfighter gets +74 pistol speed mods . stopping shot has a x4 delay . this means you need a weapon that is 1.0 to fire it at speed cap . with this crappy pistol a master gunfighter would fire once every 3.4 seconds . with a 1.7 speed weapon a master gunfighter fires stopping shot once every 1.76 seconds . unless your weapon is under 1.3 speed your damage per second is higher using fanshot . and we are supposed to be the profession that is supposed to fire the quickest

oh thank god, i don't have to reply to that now. I thought i was the only one that knew how pistol speed works.
