Thread: What is Crowd Control?

I have to say, that I personally think crowd control may prove more useful that mere damage output. Just think about it, in solo or group play, if you can control the enemies to prevent and/or limit damage from them, you have the possibility take out enemies much tougher than you are, just by spoiling thier attacks. Sure we won't do much damage, but over time,we should be able to nickel and dime them to death. That doesn't kill solo play. It will merely require more patience and skill to do. (Which in my opinion, will make it a much more interesting class over time than merely trying to shoot the heck out of your enemy.)

Pistoleer may not be an 'uber' profession if taken by itself, but just add one more profession that does a little more damage and you'll be a VERY well rounded character.

The only drawback I can see is with those who will want to use pistoleer to grind FS exp. It will take longer, since we'll have to outsmart our opponents, not out-gun them, but hey, you can't have everything.

I think this combat revamp will do wonders for the game. I am worried about the possible negatives too, and I understand everyone's concern, but I think this forum, as all others, will serve all of us better if we lay off all the negative, knee-jerk reactions until we all have a chance to try out the new system.

Who knows? Maybe you really will hate the new pistoleer profession, but who says you won't fall in love with another profession that matches your personality and play-style better?

It's not like in WoW where, if you want to play a new class you have to roll a new character from ground one.

I have never played WoW and never are. And I dont hate pistoleer, Its that I dont like the CU notes for it.

CU is about... GROUPING like it, lump it or leave it. It's your choice. Pistoleer takes a position in the groups that involves debuffing, which is quit important. We need to stop thinking of this as a solo game where everyone gets mega buffs mega armour and kills a krayt to themselves. Now it involves using other professions abilities to get the upper hand.

The only other place I'd see pistoleers would be on the defense line (we all know that a pistol does less damage than a rifle(what happened to sniping with the 35 metre rule?)), but then again would you think of a pistoleer tanking?

I dunno, I think solo play will still be viable. Just don't expect to solo the same level things as you do in live right now. Whatever level we cap off at is what level you're going to be soloing against. Too much over that, and it's nitey nite, lil pistoleer.

At least that is the case in the newbie experience. White and lower cons are easy. Yellow is pushing your luck. Red is dead. Purple is "I'd like a free trip back to town, please!" Honestly, that's how it should be. (of course, armor, buffs, slices, powerups, etc might make yellows easy and reds pushing your luck, but point is the same.)

If you wanna take on that critter that's 10+ levels above you, then group up, soldier!

This is what I dont like aswell about the CU, I was happy soloing, not beacue it gives better XP but beacuse its more of a chalenge and that you feel alot more better than getting a group of 5 to take a Krayt down, but in the CU everything is level based?? This is why I stopped playing everquest!

Umm, SWG has always been level based. Every character and MOB in the game has a challenge rating, and I'm pretty sure we've always had the conning system (which is based off the challenge rating.) The difference between pre-CU and the CU is the fact that the buffs and armor could send your challenge rating through the roof allowing you to solo things well beyond what was originally intended for you to solo.

Solo play will always be there. Characters are just being brought back in line with what they should have originally been, so the extreme high end MOBs are going to be too tough for solo play.
