This will be great for dabblers if u look at it right.

We will see a ton more Commandos dabbled in. We will see alot more pistoleers taking dirty fighting.

We will see alot less Holocrons, since FSNpc's will eventually have 80% resists AND damage Mit. -it will take a group of 10 to take em out.

We will see more pets... Since to PvE it will take u to have one on mobs that are over level 30.

We will see melee/ranged combos more now.

A ton more Combat medics.

No more noobs in PvP.... No more Crafters taking a break from crafting and getting involved in PvP...

-There will just be the hardcore templates... Guys with templates like Architect/Merchant/M.Pistoleer will not be viable anymore against M.Pistoleers/DF tree/Commandos.... U will either have to dump the crafting or stay outta PvP.

-!end sarcasm!

The main problem right now with the dabbler system is dabblers are more powerful than Masters. It should be equal. I'm not, in any way saying dabblers need to be nerfed...I'm just saying that being a Master should give better benefits than it does right now.

I really have to disagree with you that masters and dabblers should be equal. A Master Pistoleer versus a Pistoleer and Smuggler dabbler should result in the Master Pistoleer winning. Dabblers, in general, are supposed to be well-rounded characters, not uber-killing-machines. That's part of the problem right now; players can just pick up one skill tree here and one skill tree there and suddnely be unstoppable. Dabblers are meant to be powerful in their versatility, not in their ability to power through mobs or players by spamming attacks.

Now, the line between master and dabbler does get blurry at certain points, such as Master Pistoleers getting Dirty Fighting. That player is both a master and a dabbler, and he certainly would be stronger than somebody that is just a Master Pistoleer.

But, when talking about dabblers I personally just mean players that take skills from many professions without mastering any of them. And that type of dabbler shouldn't have an advantage over a master. My previous example of a player with only Pistol Tech 4 and BH Pistols 4 so they can spam Stopping Shot is an example. That player shouldn't beat a Master Pistoleer, simply in terms of how many pistols skills each player has.

Again, when you have masters that dabble in other professions like Smuggler, then of course they're going to be very powerful. I suppose it depends on exactly how a player does their dabbling.

Philosopher any word on the weapon damage scaling upwards as you increase your skill in the specific profession?

"DEV RESPONSE: "The Ranged and Melee Mitigation levels do not stack. Two level ones does not equal level two. Only the highest one is in affect. Ranged and Melee Mitigation can both be in affect if you have both from different profession. They are not limited by weapon equiped.""

If everyone wasn't already rolling up master pistoleer/master fencers....this would seal the deal and make them do it.

I don't know anything more than you know on that. My impression, based on everything I've seen, is that they're totally revamping combat from top to bottom. Take a look at what they've done on creatures in TestCenter right now -- changing HAM, changing resists, etc. I think that they're going to rebuild combat, and all combat professions, including ours, will be changed. I expect to see a lot more weapons and a lot more variety -- at least that's what TH said in his post.

I strongly suggest you takea look at my "Status Update" thread before making that choice. I talk about stacking defenses in there -- just something to take a look at before you make up your mind. Fencer is still a great choice, but there are other choices (like TKA) as well.

Phil is right, the advnatage of going TKA is a pretty big one...

  1. If you want the smuggler DF line you save 14 points over the fencer, which leaves you with 46 over the fencer's 32 points left.

  2. Not to mention TKA gives you the ability to cure Disease/poinson ect, as well as wounds, which is *extreamly* usefull....And its Defense/State defense bonuses are right there with fencers.

  3. TKA also gives you the ability to target the mind pool, which is nice .

In the end, after this holocron thing, my build will probably be a pistoleer/TKA/0040 smuggler, with medic 2030.....

But who knows with all the changes...

Does that mean fixing us in the process, or just changing us and leaving our specials broken?

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I have no control over what the Devs do ... all I can do is tell them what we want, ask them our questions, and bug them about our issues.

If you were a master GF/expert BH, would getting some of the stuff for investigation stack onto the mitigation for pistoleer?

Nope. If (for example)you have Mitigation 2 from Pistoleer and Mitigation 1 from Bounty Hunter then you just get Mitigation 2. Mitigation doesn't stack, it just uses whicheverone is the highest.

hehe...think some ppl are forgetting that the marksmen elites(carbines, pistols, rifles) arent the sole ppl being effected...commandos and BH's are going to get hit with thebig ranged mit stick too...granted the FT and LLC have a way higher min damage...but for some like the LLC the range is 400 between min/max...so just like the laser rifles...these are going to get hammered by the damage mitigation...so a master pistoleer will most likely not be one-shotted by a BH using llc4 skills...or a commando with flame4

as for higher end mobs getting mitigation...so what?? there will probably be very few npc's that have both ranged/melee mitigation...so its just a question of finding which is weaker...just like playing with the resists and AP...would be cool if scouts and/or rangers (or even better...BH with invest4) can see what if any damage mitigation a NPC has.

the only prof i think you haveto worry about with this new mitigation is the MCM...since the damage isnt ranged or melee...and no ham cost to throw...but with the new changes to the CM packs...they'll have to be in range for you to shoot them...so for now CM's are going to be tough...but not unstoppable
