That works for me. It should be very hard to knock down fencers, TKs and pistoleers. Afterall, aren't those the people who get the most defenses vs knockdown? I could be wrong, haven't looked at all the professions on this skill.

I think they should just disable everybody's knockdowns in PvP/duels. That would be fair, people would actually have to really fight that way.

Eventually knockdowns are going to be nerfed, because right now PvP is all about who knocks the other guy down first. I think the best way to do that would be to keep the knockdown moves in, but have them do no damage and make them either less successful(higher chance of failing) or slower.

Another way of fixing knockdown would be making the knockdown moves only available at master level -- so just move underhand shot to Master BH, for instance. I have no problem with a Master Pistoleer having a ranged knockdown, or a Master BH for that matter.


I don't think that pistolwhip (melee defense 1) should be singled out. Pistolwhip doesn't make a pistoleer unstoppable, because it only works within10m of the enemy. And with this lag, I've had trouble getting it to work much in PvP anyway. The real cheap move is Underhand Shot, which you get one box up from Novice BH.


The only knockdown that *is* working fine, in my opinion, is the TKA knockdown. TKAs should kick ass at melee. The solution for the rest is not to single out pistolwhip but to nerf all non-master knockdown moves.

I say leave knockdown as it is. Fix the defenses first. After the defenses are fixed then we can see how knockdown needs to be changed if at all.

This attack is WAY overpowered. A pistoleer in my 5 man team the other day tanked a singing mountain clan councilwoman using the pistol wip attack. Fyi these mobs have a challenge rating of 250. The problem is there is no immunity for knockdown attacks.Kockdown is similar to a stun in AC2 and Daoc and various other mmorpgs. In these games they put a timer on the mob or player after they are stunned which makes it impossible to stun them again for a set period of time. I feel that once you have used a knockdown effect on a player or mob you should have to wait 1 minute to reapply the effect. You would still beable to deal dmg with the attack it just prevents chain knockdowns.

One thing to consider is knockdown resist does not seem to have an effect. When folks don't get knocked down every hit, we can expect to see their effectiveness reduced.

Just a reminder for all the trigger happy duelists out there! The PvP portion of this game is quite reduced. 90% of the player don't practice it, yet 90% of the forum posts are screams for nerfs from PvP fanatics who believe they own the world as soon as they complete their first pistol or whatever martial discipline box.


There's 90% of the servers popuplation that use knockdown for other things than PvP and would be quite upset to suddenly fight 10k HAM mercenaries without that option!

plain and simple, i am a novice TKA with power techniques I, i started fighting these imps today who were using TEFS for an advantage against all covert rebels in town and i decide to go take em out, so i run up to one, and swing at him while berserked and i hit him for 550, he turns around and uses melee defense one on me for 600 with a scout blaster and thats it, i was knocked down and he hammered me with knockdown till i was dead. hows this anywhere near fair? its not, pistol whip should be like unarmed lunge, it should knockdown but do no more damage than a standard pistol attack. otherwise why be a TKA, theres no point if i am gonna get knocked down on the first hit and have no chance of fighting back

Congratulations on your first box of TKA. Meleedefense only requires 60,000 combat xp, translated into 600,000 weapon xp. Do you have anything you can get for 600,000 weapon xp that's pretty cool?
