Thread: new fanshot = help us jaegen and philosopher
i dont get it.
how is adding a cone aoe effect to an already powerful PVP attack a bad thing? all these people whinging about it, i'm not sure why.
bodyshot2/3 for PVE or stopping shot if you really must.
btw does anyone else think bodyshot3 dmg went upa bit? i think im doing more damage now but im only guessing
The explanation for whyu you don't get it is in your second line. PvP Sure, the changes to FanShot are greatfor PvP. For PvE...not so much. In fact, it accomplishes in a millisecond everything we try to avoid in PvE.

Since when do the shots in pistoleer match the descriptions?
But anyway, in PVE fanshot is great. Use the prone trick and you can often take out a bunch of blues before they can even target you. Priceless. Or whittle whites down before you need to get up and move. It really is great if you use some tactics. It changed, you have to adapt to the change. Use BS2 or SS if you want single target shots. They are still pretty great. But the new fanshot rocks. Our power and usefulness, in both PVE and PVP just increased expnentially. And the reason Fanshot AE is good along with MTPS AE is that non-masters get to enjoy an AE attack too. MTPS also does more dmg than fanshot (my MTPS was doing damage in line with SS) and has a wider attack area than fanshot. This really is a good thing. Honest!

I agree with Snix. FanShot wasn't particularly useful before the patch (it was always better to use BodyShot2/3 or even KipUpShot/StoppingShot), so at least this makes it somewhat useful. I actually used FanShot last night to kill a group of blue cons on my DeadEye mission because it was faster than tabbing between them and using TorsoShot or StoppingShot.
We do really need to test whether BodyShot3 damage went up. I spent a while testing FanShot last night but I'll try to test BodyShot3 tonight.
Put me down as liking the change. Took down a couple of Giant Peko Pekos AND their lair at the same time -- big time saver. Once they fix the cone-aggro-but-no-damage-bug this will be a great set of shots (Stopping for single targets, fan for multiple)
This sucks. I am a smuggler first, so never come here, but you people didn't ask for this did you? Instead of putting the thing I'm attacking down fast, now when I use fan shot I A) Hit the 2 sludge panthers that were just sitting around B) Hit their nest to spawn more, C) Hit the nest that I was trying to destory to spawn more and D) DO NOT hit the target I was targeting.
Sure, "Fan shot" sounds like it would have a AOE, but it was infintly more useful when it just hit 1 target. Now I'm back to using Body shot 2, or Last Ditch if I want to sit around for 4 seconds. (LD is like stopping shot 2) I'm also more pissed because they didn't bother to mention it "We don't try for stealth updates" my ass.
Have to check overcharge 2 now, it probably does more than double tap ![]()
Double tap outdamages stopping shot at mastery with a1.8 speed weapon or slower, I think, so be sure to keep that in mind.

Now that the change is in, I'm getting the feeling that:
1. leave fan shot
2. get stopping shot adjusted to be closer to the old fan shot DPS (increase damage, or decrease delay)
If not, well, we can talk about that then? Folks seem split on the idea. keep the comments coming.
Leave FanShot as cone AE... its terrific and new. Instead of being Yet Another Random Ham Attack (tm) we actually get a new ability.
The real fix is to make Stopping Shot faster to be the same dps over time as the old fan shot. Keep the damage the same. This will be be a non-nerf for the pistoleers at mastery/speed cap. And it will be an upgrade for the non masters/bh dabblers.
Very High damage per second random attack: stopping shot.
High damage per second cone AE attack: fan shot.
Sounds good to me.

So what is multi target shot for, if fanshot is now multi targeting. Should multi be renamed fan shot 2, or is fan shot already better than the ability we should get at master? I understand that body shot 3 was(is?) useless, and fan shot seemed to replace BS2 nicely, being the same ham, but more damage.
Good point Arch. I say keep fan AOE but raise Stopping dps or dmg. But as for Multi-target... now with the new fanshot that means multi-target needs some sprucing up, rename it or simply change stats, maybe more damage or one pool or even quicker.
And Fanshot is random ham and Body shots are health. BS3 is ONLY better than 2 if you master it... or at least get the speed bonuses but then you might as well master it... and the weapon speed helps too. So there's a lot to re-think now with the new fanshot change. KEEP IT but Stopping and Multi-Target NEED something to change now.

MultiTargetPistolShot is a piece of junk right now. We've asked the Devs to make it an AOE Health-targetted shot (like an AOE BodyShot3, for instance) which would be pretty badass.
FanShot was worse than BodyShot2 before the patch, so no loss there. The only time you should use random HAM is (1) if the enemy has very low action or mind or (2) if you are in a group and care about maxing your XP and aren't worried about how fast you kill the creature. Random HAM specials are more valuable to Carbine and Rifle, because it gives them the ability to target Health (albeit poorly). Since we already target Health, we don't gain as much by targetting it more weakly (by hitting it 55% of the time instead of 100% of the time).
DisarmingShot2 should be sweet in PvE & PvP if it were AE +Intimidate+
MTPS should be sweet in PvE and great for "cleaning up the mess" in PvP if it were AE BodyShot3.
