Thread: EDIT: Pistol speed and general speed tapes require you to re-equip your weapon!
I just tested this issue again, post publish 23. I did both my macro test and repeated firing of ranged shot. If you don't understand what I mean by this read the previous posts in this thread. I now have an innate speed of 78 and with tapes I have a speed of 105. Here are the results:
Macro test:
Without tapes, pause 2.6 causes my macro to get out of synch
With tapes, pause 2.6 causes my macro to get out of synch
With tapes after re-requiping my weapon, pause 2.3 causes my macro to get out of synch
I repeated these conditions several times to make sure it wasn't lag.
Ranged shot test:
w/o tapes 19 shots in 41 sec = 0.46 sh/s
w/o tapes 16 shots in 34 sec = 0.47 sh/s
w/ tapes 19 shots in 41 sec = 0.46 sh/s
re-equiped gun
w/ tapes 18 shots in 40 sec = 0.45 sh/s
w/ tapes 17 shots in 35 sec = 0.50 sh/s
w/ tapes 20 shots in 43 sec = 0.47 sh/s
took tapes off and re-equiped gun
w/o tapes 19 shots in 40 sec = 0.48 sh/s
w/o tapes 19 shots in 41 sec = 0.46 sh/s
Conclusion:
Using my macro that includes torso, adv. crit., and ranged shots, the speed tapes do make a noticeable difference *if* I re-equip my weapon after putting my tapes on. For pure ranged shot, they seem to make little difference but this may be because I'm hitting the limit on the individual cooldown for ranged shot. It may the case, that this has been how it always has been and in previous testing, I simply didn't re-equip my weapon after putting tapes on. In any case, speed tapes seem to work now.

After an initial response from the jedi correspondant, there has been NOTHING by way of response from either Bacc or a dev - maybe YOUR correspondant can get some results. I can also confirm that BH specials are affected too.
And for the folks who say the cooldown is unaffected by weapon speed skills, please try to explain one thing: Primary cooldown on anything but the base attack (saber hit, melee hit, ranged shot) is always 1.5 times your base speed and secondary cooldowns equal your base speed, no matter the weapon. That's easily tested by using different speed weapons, or in the case of jedi, removing pearls to increase lightsaber speed. That changes cooldown timers, meaning the argument that said timers are independent of weapon speed is a bogus argument.
