Well man don't sweat it. Javac corrected me yesterday and I helped him fix his dmg calculater. We are here to help each other.

I personally am convinced that the Geo Pistol is not worth the price. My Dx2 does a lot more damage. The problem with the Geo is that ap0 vs ar1 = -50% then add a psg of 40% and your hosed.

Maybe you or someone can help me with a question. What exactly does Ranged Mitigation do? I must be missing the link.

Ok found a great link for it.. Gosh Im slow..

The person was partially correct. Once you get into pistoleer, there are only a few pistols worth using. That is once you get the cert for them.

I only use the fwg5(mostly in pve) the republic blaster, dx2, and the geo pistol(mostly on pvp).

In PvE combat, most all things about level 30 have resists to damage types. You want to check this out before jumping at an unkown enemy. So if you see it has a 50%+ resist to energy, dont use a weapon that does energy like the republis blaster. Use something like the dx2 doing acid. But also keep in mind that the republic blaster and dx2 have AP1. So even if something has a small resist to those, say under 30%, your AP1 rating will will compensate for that. So if something has 25% resist to acid, but 60% engery, cold then use your republic blaster. The fwg5 can be made with pretty good damage ratings, but it doesn't have ap at all, so unless something has no resist to heat with high resists to all else,or a vuln to heat, dont use it.

The geo is good pretty much only cause it's stun. Stun is not a very resisted damage type on armors. The heavy pvpers will get stun layered armor so not always good against them. But only the player crafted Geo pistols are any good for PvP. the looted ones are only good for PvE.

Where are you guys getting these high damage weapons. My DX2 is 2.4 with damage from 100 something to 200 something...

DX-2s can be Krayted. I believe you need 5 tissues to do it though. Or something similar to that.

Also you can get looted components that will help out a pretty decent amount. Damage slices are always nice as well. My DX-2 pistols were close to 200 max damage before slicing, A nice damage slice can put you near 250 on a common DX-2.

well against riflemen you actualy need to worry about having 30%+ on your helmut. The Jawa rifle has AP1 I believe. 1% resist will only get you 1% vs the Jawa rifle. But a 40% helm alone won't run to you much... maybe 200-400k. Add a PSG, 420 brandyx2, Muon Gold, and Musician/Dancer buffs you'll be pretty set with those right out rifleman. What you have to worry about is a high effect mind disease CM/Rifleman.

Yup, there are a number of enhancements you can stick on the DX2. Since it takes 5 krayt tissues, it's generally better to get some of the easier to get enhancers and hope for a 30%+ damage slice.

High Velocity Blaster Pistol Barrels (Themepark Reward)
High Powered Energy Capacitor (Lok, Nyms)

Maybe I should make a seperate post about enhancers ...

The primary differences betweent the Republic Blaster and the DX2, aside from the damage type, are the HAM costs and the accuracy modifiers. The Republic Blaster is probably your best bet in PvE because it does somewhat more damage, costs less HAM on specials, and can be fired from long range without worrying about increased miss chances. THe DX2 is probably your best bet for a Pistoleer PvP weapon (aside from the Geo) because PSGs do not have acid resists. It is less effective than the Republic Blaster in PvE because the damage is somewhat less, it requires more HAM to use, and the accuracy beyond 48m is nonexistant (I have a DX2, non-krayt, that does 210 damage but has -60 accuracyat 64m).

Are those high-velocity blaster pistol barrels available from the Rebel or Imperial themepark? (I'm guessing they're available from the Imperial Themepark since I didn't get a schem for 'em with the Rebel, just like Imperial PSGs. The Imps get all the toys... -sigh-)

It's a rebel reward from 3CP0 I've been told. Imps get the rifle version of the barrels. Making up a post on enhancers now.

Another update on this issue. Yesterday, I did 7 duels with a Master Pistoleer/Master Fencer. For those who didn't read my last post in this thread, I'm a Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/Master Marksman.

The first two rounds were armored and buffed. On the first one, I used a blastedly good republic and on the second I used a decent Dx2. My geo pistol is crap. Barely scratched her either time. As soon as she got within melee range of me, I was toast.

The next three rounds were buffed but with no armor. I used my Republic from here on out. The first round, I made some mistakes and she whacked me again. The second was close, but I incapped her (she then force of willed to get out of the incap, but that doesn't count 'cuz at incap, the duel is over). The third was decsively my victory.

The last two rounds were unbuffed, and I did stupid stuff, so I'm not gonna talk about those

Anyway, the point of it is this: Not being able to do effective stun damage made the buffed/armored rounds a waste of time. Couldn't even touch her. I think the bleed from the republic did more damage than any shot I made.

Exactly. Pistoleer needs help, not just a shiny new gun (the DE-10). Check out my post under

and add any appropriate comments. (Yes, I know this is spam, but I want to make sure the above post gets READ because it contains a number of suggestions that might actually FIX Pistoleer.)

The DX-2 and Republic blaster are both good for PvE.

A decent amount of creatures have less resistance, if any resistance at all, to acid.

Most creatures have at least some resistance to energy.

The DX-2 and Republic are both AP1 HAM does not matter with pistoleer because when buffed I have yet to find a pistol that will cost me more than 4-10 ham per shot.

So check the target, if it is more vulnerable to acid than energy use acid, and if it is more vulnerable to energy than acid use energy. Quite simple. Their damage is actualy quite similar when it comes down to it. My republic blaster does 10 more damage max than my DX-2 does.

PSG resists shouldn't change whether you use a republic blaster or a DX2, should they? Last I read, anything with ap bypasses a PSG completely.
