Well I am sad cause my template now will not be what it is. Master Looter. But since I less than half a box from jedi I would be giving up this temp anyway so that is no big deal. What I really look forward to the more I think of it is being able to be something in a large group taking high end mobs. I look forward to being master pistols/bh 3040 (if this is still pistols and jedi hunting)/ and either master rifles or smuggler 0040 and commando 4040 (if these are the same) and being able to be something in both pvp and pve. ALso I really hope that range means something. For instance, outside 40 meters pistols are not very accurate, and inside 20 meters rifles are not very good and carbs would be good for 10-50 meters, or something to this effect.

From what i have read about the CU, there are alot of changes that arent needed, examples may include, the "New" health bar system, and that medics and BEs will only craft medic supplys. I just think the Devs are doing a lot of work to see it all fail and player getting piss off. I for one will be mad cuz i am a CM and i like make and running my own biz of CM supplys, i dont want to have to wait for some one else to make them for me.

I kinda feel SWG with the CU is pulling an Ultima Online with Trammel or Age of Shadows...
For those of you that never played UO, Trammel and Age of Shadows are loved or hated by the playerbase at large. Trammel was hated by most of the hardcore pvpers and the kewldoodz. The PvPer's didn't like the fact that now players had a world that had no risk to go and hunt in. The kewldoodz hated it cuz it took there easy prey away from them (IE
ther Players) so now they had to go and kill monsters or fight guys who knew what to do in PvP. In Age of Shadows it was hated cuz it went from a 'skill' based pvp game depending on who your talking to, to an "whoever has the best items wins." Needless to say some love to leave out the fact that before Age of Shadows it had gotten that way with runic weapons and "whoever has the faster ISP wins."
Due to that and I'm already seeing it with SWG the CU is going to be loved and hated...
Alot of the older playerbase are already disliking the CU, they feel they spent months working on there 'uber' skill set. Finding or buying the best weapons and armor. The Jedi players are disliking it cuz "I'm a Jedi, I should be able to face whoever and win." So far I've seen the Meleers, Jedi and CM's are crying about the CU. A few of the TKM's in my guild have said they may quit and go to WoW cuz they believe TKM is a already 'nerfed' class and it's going to be nerfed big time...
Tell the truth this much I see, PvP is going to be more balanced out. I like the fact that Comp Armor isn't going to be the only armor we where (tell the truth I find Comp Armor ugly as hell.) I like the fact that PvE isn't going to be a TKM/Fencer/whatever taking down almost everything by themselfs. Most likely you'll see more groups going to the higher level places, and I get the feeling SOE may up the loot rate for a few things.
As for Pistoleer, I think the CU will be good for us. Our class so far really only has two moves we use alot Fan Shot and Stopping Shot. Tell the truth a few Pistoleer's I know only took Pistoleer for the DE-10, so one can only hope there going to make our class somewhat better. Still I don't know I, SOE really hasn't come out and said what all the classes will be like after the CU, so I think we'll have to wait till then.

I'm definitely looking forward to the alleged balance that the CU promises. I've been a ranged guy for well over a year now, and I can't wait until we're worth something. I'm definitely looking forward to the different types of GCW armor that will be available and craftable. That's just good stuff.
I'm kind of disappointed that I won't be able to be Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/TKM in the revamp. I had just started grinding the TK aspect of it all (after dragging my feet on making that final step for about 9 months) when I found out it won't be viable anymore. If pistoleer/smuggler will be worthwhile post-CU, I can totally get over not having TK, though. The only reason I was going to get it was so that I'd be effective in combat.
I'm not quite sure what to do with myself in light of all this lack of information, to be honest! I've thought about becoming Smuggler/Pistoleer/Novice Squad Leader to help my crew take down bases... I've thought about becoming Smuggler/Pistoleer/Partial BH either to hunt jedi or get more pistol specials... I've thought about getting novice musician to help heal my crew and do some non-combat socializing... I've even thought about finally making the great grind to jedi. I just don't know! This is the first time since I decided to be a smuggler (shortly after launch) that I've felt so *lost* as far as my template goes.
But, in general, these are exciting times!

I don't really have any comment on the other professions you are considering (they all sound like fine choices), but I used to be a Musician and can tell you not to go that route if you're only considering Novice. A Novice Musician's healing powers are painfully slow.
