Pistoleer Archive
Thread: If you had 27 points, what you spend it on?
With a non-Krayt FWG5 using Fan Shot, I do at least 800, and usually over 1000 on everything in the cone. I think the modifier is 4x damage, and Stopping Shot is 5x.
I'll check back with this later, but I have to go now. Run some searches on the forum about this stuff, because a lot has been written, especially about the recent Dodge changes.
Good luck!

Then I'd go 0/0/0/2 in Pistoleer and either go 2/0/0/0 in Carbineer to max your Carbine speed (so you can shoot any carbine at the rate of once per second) or 1/0/0/0 in Rifleman for MindShot2.
If you're into PvE you'd get more bang for your buck with 3/4/0/0 Creature Handler.
I'm gonna disagree with some people here and say don't go up the Stances tree. With MBH and novice Pistoleer you should already have a pistol speed skill of +85. That already is fast enough that you should be able to hit the 1 second cap with any special as long as your pistol has a speed of 2.6 or lower. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the highest delay mod on a special is x2.5) Even if you want to use a slower pistol, all you have to do is pick up a few Pistol Speed SEAs. These SEAs aren't all that rare, and I think it would really be a shame to waste precious skill points getting something that you can quite easily get with a few SEAs. As for the Melee Defense mods granted in the Stances tree, you can again go with SEAs, though Melee Defense SEAs are harder to get ahold of then Pistol Speed SEAs, or you can get some clothing items made with BE tissues. Its not to difficult for BE's to make tissues that grant +16 Defense vs. Stun and +4 Melee Defense. Put one of these tissues in an undershirt and put another in a bandolier and you'll hit the cap of +25 Defense vs. Stun and get +8 Melee Defense, and still be able to wear a full suit of armor. Now, the only other reason you could possibly want to go into the Stances tree is to get the Pistol Melee Defense special, however since you're already a MBH, you have several carbine knockdowns available, and I'm not sure how usefull another knockdown would be.
As for the other three trees, its hard to say which ones would be the best. The Marksmanship tree doesn't offer any new specials, but the added accuracy might come in handy when dealing with other players who have a high dodge skill, high ranged defense skill, or high sabre block skill. Then again, Pistol Accuracy SEAs aren't all that difficult to get, though you can't use SEAs to get more than a +25 bonus, but maybe that's all you'd really need to get an edge.
Personally I'd say that theGrips tree and theTechniques tree are the two most advantageous to get. The only real question is weather to go 4-0-3-0 or 3-0-4-0. So, I guess you need to ask yourself, what's more important to you, getting another +20 to dodge, or getting an AOE Pistol Attack and+50 Defense vs. Knockdown. I'm working towards MBH myself, and my current plan is to go 3-0-4-0, however that might change once more testing with defensive mods has been done.
