Note, to those that Don't know... 1 gun, will not do it all.. Sorry.. Take that Republic Blaster and Go Shoot a Kimo'. You'll notice that while the combat spam window show you hit for 1100.. ther is no Number going off the top of his head.. and his Ham Bar's aren't going down.. Why? They are 100% Energy Resistant.. so.. you can shoot til you dead.. and won't scratch him.

It's always best to carry a variety of guns. and Examine your target for Special Protections and Resist's before attacking. always try to use what it's vulnerable to.. which in a lot of instances.. is Stun.. only.. which makes the Tangle Pistol your friend.

No your enemy before attacking.

This is a NOVICE PISTOLEER. He's not going to be hunting Kimo, or high end voritors. If you have money for 1 gun and 1 gun only. Buy the Republic Blaster. If you can afford two guns, get the Republic Blaster and a Pre-Patch FWG5. If you can afford three guns, get the Republic Blaster, the PP FWG5, and a DX2 (with damage slice). These are all you need, if you can't kill with those guns then you are out of luck because the other guns are useless and the DX2 is near useless.

You can get from novice pistoleer to master with only Republic Blaster, and FWG5 quite easily.

well, this all depends on your skill, strategy and tactics.....I started hunting voritors when I was only master Marksman. Sure it was difficult but with my pets, I managed to not get poisoned and take down quite a few of these.....I did it for the challenge though.....It was very difficult, time consuming, lots of healing and more running than fighting....but I'm proud to say that I did it.....

I found a descrepency in my earlier post.....I said that no npc has higher than light armor rating.....well I just ran into one today who had medium armor rating and 75% resist to most everything......vulnerable against stun and cold and low resistances to heat......Uhm, I couldn't kill him.....I ran .....he was on lok somewhere.

Also, in my post I stated that I average 600-700 with specials using pistols (at novice pistoleer).......I forgot to add that I don't use krayt weapons......I just refuse to pay 100K for a weapon at all......My DX2 hits for 208 max with slice and I only payed 18k for it.....matter of fact I have never paid more than 40k for a weapon......so the guy who uses the republic blaster doing 1100 damage......fine but there is far more enemies resistant to energy than any other form of attack.....so you will need more than just that weapon....evidently you haven't been to the advanced planets yet.

I'm also happy to say that I finally found a republic blaster......It's nice....incredible from 64m, not so good under 40m....seems to miss a lot.....and the it cost me 100+ HAM for specials......So I stick to my dx2 and fwg that cost me significantly less HAM.

Ever try to take out a composite wearing soldier with a G5? If the stuff is in the 70 percentiles u will be hurting to do much damage... Comp is suseptable to stun damage, well most of it anyways... A tangle pistol with the right cut in a master pistoleers hand will arc through the stuffway better than ANY G5.

I would strongly advise against using the DX2 as your primary weapon, based entirely on the notion of range. The DX2 is perhaps the most pathetic weapons in the game, considering you need to novice an elite profession to wield it. Personally, I use the FWG or Republic Blaster for 80 - 90% of the time, mostly in the early stages of a PVE encounter. My reason is that, even with the resists on some mobs, the chance of you hitting with the Republic Blaster or FWG at range are far better than the DX2. If you're trying to bleed something, then you pretty much want to hit with the first shot. However, should your target live long enough to charge you, the Republic Blaster or the FWG basically become the "pistol" in "pistol whip." It is at this point that I would use the DX2 .. basically whipping your opponent (hopefully it goes down) and then start in with the point blank attacks with the DX2. This just serves to use the DX2 as it is intended ... as a close-quarters weapon.

I haven't tried the Tangle Pistol, but I was considering getting one, just for the certain creatures that are only susceptible to stun.
