Thread: Leveling in Pistoleer for Grinders and Novices
flabajaba2213,
that seems like it would be pretty slow going, and dangerous too.
seriously, the key is XP / TIME.
great xp that takes a long time is not worth it.
low xp that can be done quickly is not worth it either.
padeye,
I wouldn't know anything about soloing seethingbols without buff or armor or pets ![]()
but, I imagine that you can pull them one at a time and have a reasonable chance.
However, they do disease... you'd wind up with a TON of wounds.
If you're gonna solo without someone else to tank, then I'd suggest pikets instead of bols.
Pikets give roughly the sameXP per mission (because there are 9 of them that spawn for each mission instead of 6) and they don't disease you.
but doing 9 pikets instead of 6 bols for the same overall xp would be a bit slower, but certainly safer.
I've discovered that the best pistol exp for me has come from soloing faction bases while buffed. When I attack, I'll draw about 5 rebs back away from the base and fan shot them to death. The low end I get 600k and high end about 3k a guy. There are usually 2 high end guys per group of 5. I then heal, and run back to the base to pull more. There is usually little to no wait as they spawn all the way around the base and you can pull one side at a time. I try to do this later at night as to not draw the locals attention, some time their not happy that I'm beating up on their base and come running, though that's alot of fun too.
Anyway, I get good exp, and good faction points as a bonus.

I tried to get the Seething Bol Crusher missions but could not get missions that high so I trieda Picket mission instead. I can take them out but they argo on me when I attack one so I and heading back to Dath first to earn xp untill I can get the Seething Bol Crusher missions. I did make novice pistoleer last night in the Rancor valley, I had fun being in a small group but they xp was alot lower and had to use my scout pistol because they had 100% resistance to heat. So its back to Baz Nitches until I get stopping shot, then I will try my luck back on Dant.
You need level 44 or abovemissionsin order to get seething bol lairs...
for some people, that means grouping with high level pets
for other people, that means grouping with other players when pullingthe mission from the terminal.
Try getting your missions from the outpost andask the folks waiting for the starship or hanging out in the cantinaif they'll group with you for a minute while you get the missions of the terminal.
but if you (or someone in your group)don't have good "tanking" petsthen you probably can't do those missions anyway.
Regular Bols, or Pikets, also work well though.
(just like seething bols, regular pikets are also vunerable to heat).
Try Dathomir if they're medium level and you've got healers and tanks. I cannot stress enough how much fun doing 20 enraged rancor missions in a night is. I pulled about 300k in four hours and altogether we collected about 50k of meat, which then went towards a BE friend of ours. And the missions pay 38k each.
Alternativley, if you've got some way to do damage control (a knockdown attack with some kind of creature slowing attack [Dirty Fighting is what I was using]), you could take a group of newbies out and try and get Mountain Squill missions on Tat. 10k per lair, good harvesting materials. They spawn in 2's and don't group aggro. The newbies will be overjoyed at the xp they're getting while you rake in the serious xp. Again, I did about 300k that night and it was fun to boot.
Final tip: Stay away from groups with lots of melee fighters. They will suck all of the xp away. 1 or 2 to a party is ideal.
How do I increase the difficulty of missions? I'm assuming there's a thread on this somewhere. I thought it was tied to your level with the currently equipped weapon, but I hear things that make it sound like grouping with a big pet and/or droid like a probot can increase the difficulty.
I'm a novice Pistoleer and the mountain worrts on Tatooine(thanks for that post) worked great for me. I found a lair just N of Bestine, like he said, and they just kept spawning. We must've killed 15 of them and finally got a shot at the lair, and 3 more popped out. I was getting 2k each, which was great compared to what I've been doing (grinding through WS), but there was still some significant downtime, which should decrease when I get better armor and the food and drink buffs figured out.
I tried Dantooine, the mining outpost, and there weren't too many people and the missions were diff 32, some Bols, too hard for me.
But back on a planet like Tatooine, all I can get is missions of diff 11, which are way too easy and don't pay squat. It would be nice to get missions that pay good XP and money and are do-able.
also the tortu's or turtle thingies on talus are great, they give you about 3k xp per kill, and you can do 2 missons in less than 20 mins. the turtles are easy as heck to kill.
so if you find your self without a group, the turtles are a peice of cake, and you can easily make about 150-200k xp in an hour.

I am sticking with the giant Baz Nitch missions, I tried the seething Bol on Dant and got around the same xp and disese so I can do the Giant Baz Nitch missions and get the same xp and no disese. Plus on Dathimor I pick up a little extra xp getting to the lair and heading back to the outpost because something always argos me there, and with my smuggler(2-4-3-4)/pistoleer 1-0-0-0 I was able to kill a craggy bol looking thing. I am not sure what they are called but he was big and vunerable to heat. So until I gring out pistoleer for one guy and smuggler for the other you will find me on Dath.
I agree, Giant Baz, and even Mutant Baz are good. I get 4200xp from Giant Baz's, 3700 from Mutant Baz's and they take almost half the time to kill, and 4800 from Craggy Bolma's, although they take a bit longer than a Giant Baz. Overall Ive found mutant Baz's to be the fastest way to level.
