Well, this is to help out new pistoleers and holo grinders (like me). I was a 4322 Carbineer when my second Holo informed me that I needed to pursue pistoleer. I gave the obligitory, ooohh maaan so much time lost, then quickly bought a new pitsol and got to work. thankful that I had gotten an good profession to work on. I have been to every planet, and hunt extensively but I was finding that pistol xp was coming in slower than I thought that it should. I finally got up to novicepistoleer andstarted up the techniques line.. I was hunting with my guild mates on Endor, Yavin and Tat, but i still felt that the xp was coming slower than expected. After 3 days I was only at 0011, I was a little disapointed. So last night I traveled back to Dantooie and joined up with a random group. I had forgotten how much better the xp was here, this is where i leveled up in Carbineer. Needless to say after 4hours, I finished the second block of techniques and now am with 70K of techniques 3. message is just to re-affirm to you that the XP is good on Dant.

Forget hunting anywhere else if you want to get to master. There are 2 main reasons why Dant is the place to go:

1) Piket Bols and Volitors ..... pikets and bols 1000 - 1500 xp per kill, and vols are 2500-3500 xp per kill. In a big group you just blow through lair after lair.

2) The availability to find a good size hunting group. This is very important b/c on the empty planets it takes longer to solo lairs and it is soo easy to find a group on dant.

Again this is only my opinion, I am sure there are plenty of other places to get the same type of results. This is just what is working for me right now and so I thought that I would share it with you. I hopes this offers a little help to somebody. Thanks for the read and I will see you on Dant.

team up with someone who hasa good pet...

then, after you get FanShot, you can take the entire herd down all atthe same timeby having the pet aggro everything at once.

do this on seething bol or picket protector lairs, and you'll get over 30k pistol experience per lair (like 3-4k per creature).

the only problem is your team mate wont be getting very much xp because you'll be killing everything at one time with your fan shot, so you could lose your partner's helpreal fast.

So, you might want to "pay" somemaster creature handler to team with you -just explain that the whole mission will be over in a few seconds and tell him he can keep all of the pay & meat.

you'll finish pistoleer 2 full days, or 1 week of evenings, after you get fan shot.

oh, and go to player cities with "improved job market" - seething bol lairs pay $18.8k credits there instead of $16.4k at the outposts.

oh, yeah - I speak from experience. I'm a master creature handler too. You can get those other 2 columns of pistol xp rather easily after you get fanshot.

only 5 lairs for the first skill box

only 8 lairs for the second skill box

only 11 lairs for the third skill box

only 15 lairs for the fourth skill box

repeat once more and you're done.

Take 2 missions at a time in the same direction, and you can see how fast this will go for you.

I like Seething Bol Crusher lairsbecause there is only 2 of them for each round of spawns, or 6 total per lair.

The only problem is that you have to store/heal your pet a lot because of disease.

Personally, I end up cycling thru all of my pets before I worry about healing any of them.

Also, if you want to master squad leader (just for something to do or because a holo told you too) this method works well for that too - group with 3 pets and a droid, and for every 30k pistol xp you'll get about 24k SL xp.

Voritor Dasher's are excelent exp, if you can get a pet to tank the lair you'll get 4k(group exp) for every one you pop off, and they are vulnerable to heat so if you can get a really fast FWG5 like me(0.9 speed baby) you'll be set. i picked up 900k in about 6 hours just running missions and killing every one i saw along the way.

Also, the really big Bols are good exp, and also vulnerable to heat.(can't remember their names, but i do know they are murder for any brawler class).

I got pistoleer from my holo and I had no pistol skills at all. I check some of the boards for posts about where to go since I am a master pikeman I wanted to get the most xp in the shortest time. I blew threw pistols 1 - 4 in no time on Dathimor. I got Giant Baz Nitch missions which pay 11k and the lair will only have 6 Giant Baz Nitchs spawn from it each worth 3.6k or 3.7k and the lair will get you 3.6k also. So for two missions you get about 50k of pistols xp and 390 to 450 combat xp per kill is great I think. I would not recommend doing Dath unless you have good kinetic armor, buffs, muon gold or fishak surprise. I know its alot of prep but the payoff is great. I leveled up a smuggler in the pistol tree blocks there and my TKA almost to master and get this TKA get even more xp per kill then my pistoleer does, they get about 4k unarmed and 450 combat. Now remember Dath is the argo planet now so you must be careful. While I was there I had a graping spider hunter attack me and I almost beat him, I was stupid and didnt heal in time so he incapped me then destroyed my speeder and killed me.

nothing beats "seething" bols on Dantooine for xp...

(5k xp each Bol, 6 per lair, Non-aggro, does NOT deathblow)

that's70kxp for every 2 missions including the lair itself.

you need a level 44 mission to get them from the terminal, and they pay 16,400 credits.

and the mission literallytake seconds if you have fanshot and a group partner with a descent pet

and you don't ever have to worry about going to the cloning center.

andyou'll collect a lot of herbivore meat.

the only down-side is that you might get a disease if you draw aggro.

I will have to check out Dantooine then seems like a good deal, do you think I can solo them with buffs and good armor?

This may seem dirty, but if you are desperate, it will work. Go to dath and get, as a pravious poster suggested, giant baz niches (sp?). Now, scout around the baz nich lair, and look for either gaping spiders or kiwi defenders. Now, target andpull 1 or 2 of the baz niches towards the spiders or kiwi. If you can keep from getting aggro from the spider or kiwi, then they will engage the baz niche. Peace, and begin attacking. They will be doing more damage than you, so they will keep the aggro. When the mob is dead, get away, heal up, and do it again. Since baz niches aren't the fastest things, you can easily pull them without getting hit. However, watch out for the aggro from the spiders or kiwi. They will own you unless you are buffed with good armor.

This method is preferred if you have...

A.) No tank.

B.) No buffs

C.) No armor

This techniques works well. However, even if you deal out a lot of damage, the most xp you will get is between 2.8k and 3.3k.

Hope this helps.
